Summary: Not My Idea of Perfect
Review: The Glory Field did not appeal to me as it did to some of the other reviewers. It is about an African-American family who fought against prejudice throughout a period of two hundred and fifty years. This story was told in five different generations in which each focused strongly upon a troubled teenager from the Lewis family. Their troubles took place from Africa to South Carolina as they fought against racism to keep their freedom and ownership of the priceless land, the Glory Field.

The reason why I rated this story so poorly was that I never had a chance to really know the troubled teenager. I guess it was because the story focused upon five different teenagers within only a limited number of pages, making it difficult to perfectly understand each teen and their problem. However, I would not call this book "Poor" because it contained a special quality. A quality in which has touched me. A book in which involves culture and fight against any prejudice in which goes on in our everyday lives is not what I call "Poor".

The Glory Field is a perfectly alright book for almost anybody. I think it will especially touch African-Americans who wish to learn of their ancestors who fought against prejudice. Overall, this book will be atleast enjoyed if not better so I suggest you read it!

Summary: What a Glory!
Review: The Glory Field is a stupendous, mind-blowing and exciting book that enables the readers to understand the problems in the past between the Africans and the Americans. This book is essentially about racism and slavery that happened in the past. This astonishing story is about the remarkable African-American family named the Lewis family. This book has five sections that cover different characters that face different problems in their life. The feelings that Myers (the author) puts in the book makes you feel the pain and the sufferings of the Lewis family through six generations. It is a convincing story that follows the Lewis family from Africa to South Carolina and spans a period of 250 years. This book tells about each of the strong teenage characters in the family that has an ongoing fight for their education, freedom and dignity. The Lewis family also has the continuous fight for their precious and beautiful land, the Glory Field. The Lewis family builds a strong reputation of self-respect and determination through successive generations. Myers (the author) did a fantastic job of sketching a suitable portrait of the Lewis family. I personally recommend every person to read the Glory Field because the suspense and drama keeps you thriving to find out what is going to happen next. In addition, the book indulges you while it takes you to a journey of the Lewis family that shows some astonishing accomplishments, big dreams and a lot of hope. However, there are struggles that occur in the Lewis family with the characters that make you mad and upset. The book is a clear picture of the cruelty against the Lewis family. Myers tells the story of the bitter experiences that they face during their life.

Summary: A Glowing Triumph
Review: The Glory Field is about an African-American family's generations, spanning 250 years. It was extrememly captivating to me, and I think it may do the same for you. I was a bit annoyed that the time spent following one character was so short. This is really my only complaint. Overall, this was the only thing I would change. I am 13 and could easily read it. I think any teenagers would like it, and also some adults. If you like it half as much as I do, you'll be recomending it to others for years to come.

Summary: The Glory Field
Review: The Glory Field was more of a history lesson for me. I got very confused by all the different time zones. In the beginning, I understood that the Lewis family was in slavery, but I didn't understand when they had the first time change. I thought they were still in the same time period. The Glory Field talked about how the Lewis family went through the 1900's. I liked the time period when they went through the civil rights movement, it was very surprising.
During the time period when Tommy was the main character, the book was getting interesting. Tommy wanted to play basketball for an 'all-white' college, and he was struggling. He met challenges in his way and struggled with them. Tommy was not yet ready for college, he had one more year of high school left.
I liked the part at the end when there's the big family reunion. That part was like the overview of the book. Most of the characters were there. During that time period, Malcolm was the main character. He struggled to get his cousin, Shep Lewis, to go to the reunion. Shep had used the money that he was supposed to use for the trip on crack. Malcolm still got him to go though, but they had to take a bus. The bus left them, and that really built up the plot. They weren't sure if they could make it. They hitched-hiked to the reunion though. At the end, everyone was happy.

Summary: The Glory Field
Review: The Glory Field was very descriptive about the scenes and all but it really didn't catch my attention at all. In the beginning it talked about a family being slaves and how they struggled about everything. Around the middle it was very confusing so I kinda lost it. In this book I learned how slaves were treated. In this book the author decribes things like feelings and emotions really well. After generations have pasted each one 's better than the next. But you know good things comes with bad things. In The Glory Field there were way too much characters and because of that I got really confused. Nothing really motivated me to read on becuase there aren't really any exitement. After I read the book I almost didn't even remember the plots and scenes. Mainly I think this book is dealt on teachings and feelings about rights of colored people. On another hand if I hadn't read this book I would've missed out in some very important facts.

Summary: 3 words, A Maze Ing
Review: This book is a very cultural and historical book. I thought it was touching and educational at the same time. I was hooked from the first paragraph and for the rest of the book. No text book has ever taught me as much information on the slavery and prejeduce of afican-americans throughout history than The Glory Field. All throughout the book there are scenes that are so descriptive you can easily close your eyes and be in that scene!

The Glory Field had a very creative form of story-telling which if you saw you would give credits. Instead of bieng like a normal book consisting of chapter after chapter filled with a short time-span it's a whole lot different. This books form of chapters is, in every few chapters it enters a new place in the books future. This form is very interesting and also in each chapter it has an element that connects to the past.

This book is very emotional and compelling. I took the time to pick it up in class so why don't you. I strongly recommend this book to any african-american if they really want to learn about thier ancestors who went through all the pain and suffering to be free.
