Rating: Summary: Nixon Never Fails To Write A Good Mystery!... Review: "Murdered, My Sweet" was one of Joan Lowery Nixon's best books! It was packed with redherrings (people who the author wants you to think the murderer is) and the murderer could've been a number of people. I must say that the ending was very abrupt and wasn't like all Nixon's other endings (action-packed and suspenseful). But, I'm still rating this a five because she made up for it with comedy and romance!.....The storyline revolves around a girl named Jenny Jakes. Jenny's mother is a mystery writer who is known around the world. Jenny and her mother are invited to their Uncle Arnold's party in San Antonio, celebrating the reading of his will. When they arrive the guests act mysterious and some even say that reading his will could be dangerous, especially since he made revisions. Before the will is read, Arnold's son, Porter, is murdered! When Jenny's mom -- Madeline -- starts to investigate, things start getting dangerous. Maybe the murderer thinks Madeline and Jenny know too much. Are they the next vitims? Find out in the thrilling, "Murdered, My Sweet!" Also recommended: "Name of the Game Was Murder" & "Nobody's There."

They weren't expecting a real life murder to happen. Everyone turns to Jenny's mother to find out who was the murderer because she is the famous "mystery solver" that helps the police. She keeps acting in and out of her stories but this is the real deal and it is putting everyone in grave danger. Jenny does all of the real work but her mother takes all of the credit. Will this ruin her career as a mystery writer? This book makes you keep turning the pages to find clues that bring you closer and closer to solve this spine tingling mystery. More suspects appear and Nixon adds love scenes to make a thrilling book. It gives fabulous descriptions and it seems like you are right there witnessing and solving the mystery. This is definitely one of Nixon's best books!
Rating: Summary: Mystery Writer or Detective? Review: Jenny Jakes and her mother, Madeline Jakes the mystery writer, get invited to their very rich cousin's, Arnold Harmony, reading of his will even though he isn't dead. Right before of the reading will they found out that Porter Harmony, Arnold's son, has been murdered. Jenny's mother decides to help solve the case like a real detective even though she isn't. Just when Madeline and Jenny think they've solved the mystery, something unexpected happens! I liked this book very much. The reason why is because it was suspenseful and it made you keep guessing till the end of the book. It also had no boring parts, it always had action in it. I would give this book 5 star out of 5 stars. Another book that is just as good as this book is Secret, Silent Screams, by Joan Lowery Nixon. It too is very unpredictable and always keeping at the edge of your seat.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful Book!! Review: Jenny Jakes and her mother, Madeline Jakes, go to see their cousin, Arnold Harmony, read his will. Arnold owns a chocolate business, Harmony Chocolates, which he has done very well and has made a fortune of money. When Arnold's son, Porter Harmony, is murdered, Madeline decides to become a real-life detective. She doesn't know anything about being a detective. Jenny tries to help her mother, but almost gets killed. A person who had been going around and helping Jenny and Madeline is Carlos. Jenny and Carlos liked each other a lot and that is part of the reason he was with them. He worked at the hotel where Jenny and Madeline were staying. His other job, was a journalist. He wrote a column in the newspaper every week. Close to the end of the book, he wrote an article about Madeline. Jenny thought, when she found out he was writing this, that he was going to put some of the secrets he knew about Madeline. Jenny got mad at him. It turned out that he said a lot of great things. Jenny and Madeline, worked very hard to get to the bottom of the crime. They stayed a week to finish it. Finally they found out who the murder really was. This mystery book was taken place in San Antonio, California, in the springtime. I think none of the characters learned anything from the story. The author didn't have a purpose for writing this book. She probably just wrote it just to entertain people. The author did a wonderful job making the book an entertaining book. I couldn't put the book down once I started it! Although I enjoyed the book, I did not learn anything from it. I recommend this book for anyone who likes mysteries.
