Rating: Summary: THE FANTASY TURNS INTO FACT Review: If you have never believed in the Lochness monster, here's your chance. This book is so intense and thrilling that you will not be able to put it down. It all begins when a young boy is watching sheep by a lake. The boy is stunned when a huge monster surfaces from the lake and eats the sheep for dinner. This event is one that the boy will never forget. When he is older he decides to seek out the monster and solve the mystery of the Lochness Monster. His son, Loch, is thrilled to go and enjoy the adventure with him. When Loch runs into a great discovery, he hides it from his dad and the other scientists in order to protect it. This book is great for young adults. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys the thrill of an adventure.
Rating: Summary: You'll be Drowning in Suspense Review: Imagine being on a boat in the middle of a big lake when all of a sudden a huge beats with jaws the size of your head shoot out and bite you in half. Doesn't sound like much fun does it? The people the story in Loch by Paul Zindel don't think so either. I liked this book because I am interested in water creatures. If you liked any of the Jaws movies you will like this book. Paul Zindel has written another book of this genre called Reef of Death that you would enjoy if you liked Loch or vice versa. This book has action, suspense, drama, and some science fiction in it. Anyone could like this book.
Rating: Summary: Loch Review: It is a book for the guys. There is lots of blood and guts.
Rating: Summary: Loch by Paul Zindel Review: Loch and his sister joined their father on a expedition to Lochness Lake. Their father's boss was searching for a legendary creature, the Lochness Monster. Many people think he's crazy and that such a creature exists anymore. This creature was believed to go extinct about ten years ago. On a cold dreary day, the unexpected happens. A figure appears on the sonar screens of the boats scanning the water below. It starts moving faster and faster toward the cluster of boats. Suddenly, something breaks the surface of the water in between the circle of boats. If you want to find out what it is, I suggest you read this book.
Rating: Summary: Nessie,BAD?Weird. Review: Loch and sister Zadie have kind of normal lives, well almost normal. Loch is pretty cool because he's not really scared to go back and forth in the water when he knows he can killed. Anyway this book was alsome it was the first book I read by Zindel. My favorite charcter was Zadie she's like 9 and she got to drive. Anyway you need to read this book or his other books, I've read some of his others also. I highly recomend it.
Rating: Summary: For the stong somached and gore loving people Review: Loch by Paul Zindel is a great book about the Loch Ness Monster. The story takes place at lake Champlain in Vermont, where a teenager nick named Loch is with his father and sister on a mission to help capture the Loch Ness Monster, even thoughthey don't won't to because of the danger and curelness of the mission the comander would show. Sarah, the comanders daughter and life-long crush of Loch, has a rin in with the creatures about two times and each time someone died. Like the camera man who got chewed in half and the gaurd that got his legs chwed off by the monsters babies and things go crazy. The ending is cool 'cause the comander gets attacked by the monsters leader, and he desurved it. My opinion on thhis book is that it is heavy in detail and adventure. The coolest part in the book is when the ending war between the creatures and humans. I would only let the strong stomsched and gore loving and adventure loving people read this and I give a full five stars.
Rating: Summary: Creatures from Below Review: Loch By Paul Zindel"What happens when legends become fact?" When Loch and his sister are with their father on a scientific expedition to track legendary lake monsters in Lake Alban, until now, the exercise had not been rewarded, but the fleet is attacked when they go on the first search. Loch and his sister then come across one of the plesiosaur's offspring, and they realize that the creatures only attack when threatened. So he risks his life - and the lives of his friends - to save the plesiosaurs from Cavenger's ruthless claws. But can he open the salmon grid in time? Loch is one of my favorite books, and I'd recommend it to anyone who is reluctant to read. After all, I've had it since 1995, and I read it almost every time I travel somewhere.
Rating: Summary: Loch is an awesome book! Review: Loch is a story about a sixteen year old boy who goes on an expedition with his dad and sister. While they are out on the lake, a lochness monster devours a cameraman. A day later, Loch finds a baby lochness monster when he is scuba diving. Loch tries to save the baby and the other monsters from the inhumane Anthony Cavenger. The end is fantastic. I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes dinosaurs and underwater creatures.
Rating: Summary: Loch. A surprisingly dark, thrilling YA novel Review: LOCH is Paul Zindel's follow-up to his other big-thing-in-water story, REEF OF DEATH (unread by me). Zindel keeps the story on a level teen-agers will be into, with mostly one-dimensional adult characters (they exhibit, however, more life than anyone in the RESIDENT EVIL series), and a spirited, high-energy perspective of things to keep the sense of adventure high. What's surprising about this Young Adult novel is that the attacks are not only violent, they are particularly disturbing. They aren't especially graphic in descriptions of gore, but I suppose it's more a more shocking experience when you get lured into the brisk, shallow YA reading state, and don't really believe that any of these likeable, surprisingly real characters will get ripped limb from limb... but they do. Even the "rich, control-freak idiot mogul" character is sympathized with, as he is the hero's "girlfirend"'s father. The action is effective and greatly intriguing when it moves from the expected location of the lake to little hideaway places, like a hidden waterfall and the abandoned logging mill, which sets the scene for the book's exciting, ANACONDA-like climax. Still, One can't help but wish that Zindel had maybe opened this book up a little more, spent some time on the characters and atmosphere. All that is great as it is, but I wanted more. But I suppose to draw it out to anything more than YA novel might be to sacrifice some of the qualities that set it aside from your typical Benchley fare. For a young reader or anyone with an open mind for fast-reading, effective action fiction, this is a 4-star book, and no less. But to a jaded reader of the "something in the deep" genre, it's a solid 3 and a 1/2-star read. Either way, it's highly recommended.
Rating: Summary: A Very Good Book Review: My first Paul Zindel book ever! LOCH kinda represents The Loch Ness Monster. In this book Loch and his sister are on a expedition with there father and hit boss who is trying to prove the existence of lake monsters. On a routine mission a water beast explodes out of the water and a photographer loses his life. These things are known as plesiosaurs and somehow there cover got blown. Loch encounters a baby plesiosaur that lost it's mother and they become friends. So Loch risks his life to save the creatures from being destroyed. The best parts were whenever a plesiosaur showed up. this is one of Paul Zindel's longest books.
