Rating: Summary: extra credit Stotan review Review: I thought Stotan was a little bit boring in the beginning, but the more I read the more interesting it was. The book had a few interesting and suspenseful parts. The book had some funny parts also. Stotan was about a group of five friends on the swimming team, encountering many common and uncommon problems. The more you got to know the characters the better the book got. There were some good lessons in the book. It taught you that no matter how bad you think your problems are there is probably someone out there with worse problems, and that you should not put off doing things with your friends, because they may not be there tomorrow. The book was enjoyable and was fun to read in some parts. Overall, I didn't really care for the book but other readers may enjoy reading Stotan, and it did have some good lessons for teenagers.
Rating: Summary: Interesting and Life-like Review: I thought that this book was very life-like and that people of all ages should read this book. It has several really good lessons in the book. I thought that the situations and ordeals that the four main characters went through are very realistic. Are there going to be any more books with Walker, Nortie and Lion in them? I know there are a few more with Lion in them but what about Walker's and Nortie's stories?
Rating: Summary: (read this) Review: I was assigned to read this book for English, and think it is up on the top of my- favorite- books list. It is an amazing story and you can relate to all the characters. This is one book I would recommend for ages 12 and over. It runs very deep as books go... :-)
Rating: Summary: An excellent and Realistic Book Review: I would highly recommend this book to anyone. I initially had to read it for school, but it ended up as one of my favorite books ever. The characters are likeable and identifiable to people you probably know. It is also often humourous for a novel that deals with death and other serious issues.
Rating: Summary: Excellent example of literature for young adults. Review: In STOTAN!, Chris Crutcher accurately captures the nuances of modern day high school life. He touches upon emotions that all of us encounter in high school, allowing every reader to identify stongly with at least one of the characters. His mixture of humor and tragedy make this novel an emotional roller coaster. This would be a great book for both parents and teens to read, then discuss around the dinner table!
Rating: Summary: Enjoyable Reading Review: My English teacher gave us this book as required reading because Chris Crutcher was coming to speak at our school and she wanted us to have a feel for his writing style, and for once I am glad she assigned it. This is one of the few required reading books that I have ever enjoyed. It is interesting, quick reading that most people can relate to. The plot is creative and intriguing, it really makes you think. I would recommend this book to almost anyone.
Rating: Summary: You should never choose this book to read. Review: Out of the pages that I read I thought that the book was not that great, but when we talked about it in class it sounded alright in some parts. I like boks with more action in them and i don't think this one had that much action. This book seemed very boring to me because I am used to reading action books.
Rating: Summary: blub-blub Review: Stotan is a great book, and I highly reccomend it to anyone who wants to learn more about swimming. A small group of close swimming buddies-Walker, Lionel, Jeff, and Norbert-see a sign on the wall of the gymnasium. What it says is: STOTAN WEEK looking for a few good men to participate in this program Of course they all sign up, and they have no idea what they're in for!
Rating: Summary: Chris Crutcher is the best author in print. Review: Stotan is an incredible book! It's about 4 friends, Walker, Nortie, Lion, and Jeff, who swim together as well as experience life together, culminating in a test of their athletic and emotional abilities known as Stotan Week. Chris Crutcher deals with heavy issues such as domestic abuse, racism and cancer with grace, sensitivity and even humor. I reccomend this and all of Crutcher's books.
Rating: Summary: Very insperational and life changing book! Review: STOTAN is my very favorite book I have ever read. Everyone can relate to this book somehow, eveen if you aren't a swimmer. I would definetally reccommend STOTAN!!!
