Rating: Summary: A GREAT Read!!! Review: I think The Wind Singer was a great book. The characters were so vivid, you could feel like you were really there! I liked it how the author had boys and girls both take part instead of just one gender. The plot was really good too. The author had such an amazing way if describing things. I really liked the ideas the author had about the different characters and how they acted toward each other. It was never boring either. It's a great book. The rest of the trilogy is good too!
Rating: Summary: A Wonderful Book Review: I absolutely loved this book. It's thrilling to the end, and scary, too! The story is about the Hath family, who live in Aramanth, a town where tests really do matter. They determine your job, your social status, where you live, your life. Kestrel, aged ten, has had enough of these, and rebels atop the city's mysterious centerpiece- the wind singer. It once sang and brought the city peace, but its voice has been missing for many years, and so has the city's peace. Back to the rebellion! Kestrel puts down Aramanth, and all it supports, and her family, especially herself, is put in danger. Kestrel and her twin, Bowman, escape the city, off on a mission to retrieve the legendary wind singer's voice, which will bring peace back to the city. They are joined by a stupid, disgusting, but innocent classmate, Mumpo, and the 'three friends' start off on an exciting adventure to save their city. The characters you meet are amazing and well developed, and you really fall in love with them, hate them, or fear them. My favorite was no doubt the emperor... There were some parts that chilled my bones, and some parts that just made me laugh (provided mostly by Mumpo). This novel has it all, I highly recommend it! And when you're done, read the other books in the trilogy!
Rating: Summary: Do Judge a Book by its Cover. Review: I randomly picked up this book at the library one day because of its beautiful jacket illustrations. Reading the brief summary inside I was only slightly interested, but thought I'd try it just the same. Once I started reading I was partially confused, but soon had a grasp on the plot. It is about twin brother and sister, Bowman and Kestrel, whose mother is a prophet, causing them to be the chosen ones to save their city Aramanth from the evil force, the Morah. While on their quest the twins are joined by their city's reject child, Mumpo. I grew to love Mumpo's character because of his complete innocence. Personally I really enjoyed this book because it has the everlastingly perfect plot: "Good vs. Evil" and for the Good to overcome they go on a journey. I am an avid fan of Lord of the Rings which has a simalar plot. This is a great read, try it sometime...and don't forget to read the other two books in the Wind on Fire trilogy: Slaves of the Mastery and Firesong.
Rating: Summary: One of the Best Review: This was such a great book! It's had adventure and fantisy. The end was really weird, that was the only thing wrong with it. I think they could have done it a little better. I read it in a wee and I stared the 2nd book. It is a great light read and I reccomed ages 8-13 if the child likes fanitsey!

I didn't start reading it for a week after my purchase but once I picked up the book I could not put it down. It was glued to my hands and my eyes were fixed on it. The storyline was exciting and adventurous and new characters and mysteries were being brought in constantly.I cannot wait to read William Nicholsons next books. I think that his writing is gripping. The storyline is amazing. How he came up with the idea I will never know. It is a must read for anyone of any age. It is now one of my favourite books that I have ever bought. I give it a rating of five stars because it is absolutely brilliant.
Rating: Summary: This book really captured my attention! Review: Nicholson has my full attention now! What a wonderful beginning to a trilogy! The finesse and sheer brilliance that has gone into writing this novel amazes me. As an avid fantasy reader, I believe that it is very important for a fantasy novel to contain elements such as those displayed in this novel. I certainly rank this up with the best: Harry Potter and LOTR. Not only is this book an enjoyable read for junior-high students, it is also a valuable gem to be read by all ages. It teaches lessons such as the importance of individuality, a valuable lesson indeed. I was captivated from the moment of Pin-Pin's first test to the shockingly clever end. This book, in my opinion, should by read by all avid readers, of any age. I picked this up for a bit of light reading, and wanted more and more of the Wind on Fire Trilogy. Well done, Nicholson!
Rating: Summary: Good first novel and beginning of new trilogy Review: In his first novel, The Wind Singer, William Nicholson takes his readers to a place called Aramanth where twin brother and sister, Bo and Kes, rebel against a socially stifling caste system. Feeling they have nothing to lose, Bo and Kes leave the city walls to search for the key to the wind singer, an ancient structure which once brought joy and harmony to the people of Aramanth. Reminiscent somewhat of Lois Lowry's The Giver, Nicholson takes a turn toward fantasy. From the kindly mud people to the creepy old children, the characters were something fresh rather than the same old creatures from other stories. Although overall I feel it is well written, there are parts that seemed forced and somewhat disjointed. Other parts were thoroughly enjoyable which encourages me to continue reading the trilogy. I am hopeful that the next two books will improve a bit. As with The Giver, there is definately a good message to young readers about individuality and why this type of society, which frighteningly enough has been tried more than once, does not work.
Rating: Summary: The Wind Singer Was Singing... Review: Those were the words which led me into William Nicholson's The Wind Singer. After I had read those words I though that it was bound to be a great book.I was right and I finished reading it in three days. It was fantastic and kept you curious right up to the very end. My favourite character was Kestral and I think that I am a bit like her. Her and her brother Bowman go on a secret adventure to save their city of Aramanth, to do this they must pass over many strange lands together with Mumpo, to find the voice of the wind singer. It is a thrilling story and after I have finished reading the next two books in the series I am sure I will read it again.
Rating: Summary: Excellent! Review: This is an absorbing and excellent book. If you like fantasy, you'll love this one. It is also a very realistic reflection of our society. It has several layers to it, though not as many as "The Golden Compass". It's a great fantasy story, for all ages. It's taken out the only thing I hated about LOTR, the exagerated amount of details. The story happens quickly, and it has an ending to it, unlike many other tilogies which end only at the end of the third book. If you are a fantasy lover, this is a must!
