Rating: Summary: A romantic fable that any dragon fan is sure to treasure. Review: This book has everything: adventure, romance, tragedy and comedy. I loved it. I never thought I would enjoy anything as much as I did Anne McCaffrey's "Dragon Riders of Pern" series. I was wrong. The only thing I didn't like was the fact that the four hundred "lost ones" remain trapped and Lanen never makes it to warn her mother. What gives? Is the Author planning a sequel? Oh please tell me she is, because she wrote one hell of a cliffhanger. Sincerely, Alishia Powell Florida,USA
Rating: Summary: I like this book! Review: _Song in the Silence_ I thought would be boring and dull, but I checked it out of the library because of the dragon references. Although it did drag in the middle a little bit, it was necessary to tell about the Weh dreams and such. I am glad I chose this book.
Rating: Summary: Pretty darn good for a book with a dragon on the cover Review: I don't read sci-fi or fantasy books but ended up reading "Song in the Silence" when my tired-of-waiting son moaned "just buy this dragon book, Mom"! I'm glad I did but it taught me a lesson. I'm told these books always come in threes, I hope Ms Kerner can keep up the quality, does anyone know when the next one will be out?
Rating: Summary: Excellent characters! Good story line. Review: Great book. Main characters are charming. The story line is not finished by the end of the book. I expect a sequel out soon. The book seemed to echo my own childhood wishes and fantasies.
Rating: Summary: Good Plot, Bad Writing Review: While the dragons were different, especially the romance between them (which I found disgustingly unrealistic), this book is not one that deserves 4 stars at even the most. While the story was interesting, the writing was dull. While the main character was spunky, she was stick-like in personality. So many things contrasted the other, I found this book horrid.
Rating: Summary: A refreshing look at dragons Review: In most fantasy and science fiction involving dragons, I've noticed that with few exceptions the dragons seem shallow and cookie cutter. Not in this book - it is so well developed and thought out that my impression was a very good one, throughout the entire book. Unlike other books involving dragons and female lead characters (you can probably guess which ones I'm talking about) Kerner doesn't water down the dragon characters nor make them seem like props in the background. What's more, the book promises more sequels to carry on the story.
Rating: Summary: The best book I ever read! Review: I am addicted to reading, I just can't stop myself from buying new books all the time. So when I got this book I thought it was going to be a bland fantasy book. I can't express how glad I was wrong! I've read sci-fi books, romance/supernatural/fantasy books, action/adventure books, etc for more years than I can count and none of them were ever as good as this book. I couldn't put it down. I was entharalled by Lanen and Akhor/Varien. I got the impression that there are to be more stories from this book and wait in great anticipation for it.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful book on dragons with a unique perspective Review: Elizabeth Kerner is a fascinating writer with a gift for drawing you into the emotions of the people and dragons, she writes about. Her tale, of a hopeless and forbidden love between two different beings, was as good as anything Anne McCaffrey has written. I hope to read more of Elizabeth's books in the future, she is sure to become one of my favorite authors.
Rating: Summary: Outstanding! I highly recommend it! Review: The characters in this story immediately pull you into their world. It is filled with action and adventure encased in a love story. I can't wait to find out what happens with Lanen and Akhor.
Rating: Summary: Please be patient - the sequel is coming! Review: Greetings - this is Elizabeth Kerner, author of Song in the Silence. First, I would like to thank you all for your kind (and otherwise) comments about my book. Until recently, an author seldom had the opportunity to learn what his or her readers were thinking. The comments of critics and reviewers are instructive, but in the end are only the individual writer's opinions. It is a treat to hear from a number of you who have read my work, and I thank you for it. And for those of you who have requested more information about the Kantri and the Gedri, about Lanen and Varien and the fate of the Lost, I beg your patience - I'm writing as fast as I can! I have been informed by Tor that they will soon be reprinting the hardback edition, so if you're looking for a copy of the book one should soon be available, albeit at a higher premium than you might have wished. Thanks again for reading - and for your patience - Elizabeth Kerner
