Summary: Feuding Witch Families
Review: 'Witch' is the start of a wonderful new 'Wicked' series co authored by Nancy Holder featuring Holly Cathor, a senior in high-school who does not yet know that she is part of a very old line of very powerful witches. The story unfolds when Holly's parents are killed in a rafting accident and Holly is forced to move to Seattle to live with her aunt and two twin cousins.

Through a series of strange incidents and flashbacks we learn that Holly's ancient family has been part of a feud with another demonic line of witches, the Deveraux's, currently lead by Michael along with his two sons. If witches, warlocks, and the supernatural are for you, then you are sure to enjoy this first entry in this series.

Summary: Definitely Wicked!
Review: After attending a recent signing for Wicked: Witch, written by Nancy Holder and Debbie Viguie, I tore through the novel in a single afternoon. I was immediately drawn into the story with the first chapter and couldn't put it down.

The book is filled with beautiful poetry (written by Debbie) that starts off each chapter and an engaging story which focuses on the lives of two pairs of tragic lovers in the past and present. An age old conflict rages between two magical families and revolves around the main characters--Holly and Jeraud. Who will break the spell?

Readers will be entranced by this novel, the first of four, co-authored by Nancy Holder and Debbie Viguie and will be crying for more as the last page is turned. We are left hanging by a thread until Wicked: Curse is released in January.

Summary: Good.... But not as Good as Sweep
Review: After I finished the Sweep series, I was looking through Amazon looking for something else to read. I saw this, so I decided to buy it, because it looked good. When I started reading, I was kind of dissappointed that it wasnt that close to 'Sweep', because it this was more of the stereotype of magic. But after the first couple of chapters, I really got into the story. This is what it's about:

Holly Cathor just lost her parents & best friend in a rafting accident. Now she has to go live with her family and cousins in Seattle. When she first meets Jer Deveraux (son of Michael Deveraux, the man her aunt is having an affair with). But Jer's family is the descendents from a warlock family from 16th century France. Holly's family is too, they have just forgotten it, but Holly finds her aunt & cousin doing this magic thing one night and then Holly & her other cousin get involved. Now Jer has a thing for Holly, and Holly doesn't know what to do.

OK. Not the greatest review, but, I read this book like late October/Early November.

Summary: Great read for teen girls
Review: But if you aren't a teenager and female, this probablly won't appeal. There are gaps in the narative that don't make sense, like, the characters go from knowing nothing to being full-fledged witches because the chapter number changed, and the black fire can only work when ___ are together. Then characters discover things, but the reader isn't aware of them until some time later, when the information is just thrown out there with no groundwork or preparation.

Mostly, the style is seamless, but there are times when the difference between authors is glaringly obvious.

But it does make a nice change from all the TSR fantasy ...-novels and transcribed D&D sessions.

Summary: Can you say "Where is the next installment in the series???"
Review: Highly enjoyable read. Impossible for me to put down, so I read it in one sitting. It was very easy to become involved with the characters in this story. You can almost feel their emotional state which changes with every turn in the road. I'm not a big "flash back" fan but the ones in this book were done such that they made sense and moved the whole plot line forward.

Summary: one of the best supernatural books i have read in a while
Review: holly's life is turned upside down when her parents and her best friend are killed in a rafting accident. she is sent to live with an aunt and twin cousins that she did not even existed. unknown to her and her cousins they are descended from a long line of witches and their arch nemesis, the devereaux clan is watching all these events with growing concern. for there is a blood feud between the families that dates back 600 years and the devereaux clan has sworn to get bloody revenge. this book puts books like charmed to the point of looking like nice reading material for your children at bedtime. it has blood, reincarnation, murder, all the dark works ofevil that you could ever ask for. i can't wait till i read the next book.

Summary: captivating
Review: I bought this book on a vactaion becaue I had finished a different book and had nothing to read. Which for me is a very bad thing cause all I do is read.

Holly is having the time of her life river rafting on a vacaction with her parents, Tina(best friend), and guide Ryan. A storm starts up and the raft is destroyed leaving Holly the only survivor of the raft. With her best frien'ds mom in the hospital Holly goes to livein Seattle with her Aunt Marie-Claire and her twins Nicole and Amanda.

Also in Seattle lives Micheal Deveraux and his two sons Eli and Jer. They are a line of powerful warlocks tryint to bring about the Black Fire. They are also tryin to forge an alliance between them and a line of Wiccans, the Cahors(who became the Cathers). The Cathers women are none other then Holly's family. However they do not know of their heritage.

Another storyline is invovled in this book. It is about an alliance between the two familys. Isabeau and Jean are lovers and married. However each is supposed to decive the other and kill the family. Something goes wrong and all does not go according to plan.

As soon as Holly is with Jer they are in their past lives(as Isabeau and Jean). All to quickly Holly and her cousins learn of what they are and who the Deveraux's are.

Two stories both trying to win the readers attention. Both stories very very real.

I loved this book and can't wait for curse. However I'm still unclear as to what Black Fire is and why it's so important.

Summary: A major disappointment
Review: I hated this book so much that I returned it and its two sequels to the store where I bought them! After the wonderful experience of reading "Sweep", this was just too disappointing. The book read like an outline. No emotional bond between the characters. Huge gaps in the time line. When the authors tell you "three months passed" and also "six weeks later", with no clue as to what had happened in the meantime, the plot is in big trouble. The authors fleshed out the villains in more detail than the heroes! I wanted to read more about the heroines, get inside their heads and see what they were thinking, get to know them---but none of that was there. And, hey, the couple that was destined to be together?....wasn't. What's that all about??? I've read lots of Nancy Holder's stuff and it has always been good until now----perhaps her publisher slapped her name on this book without her writing a word of it???
Meanwhile, I'll be awaiting the next "Sweep" title.

Summary: Awesome!
Review: I loved this book! Although I do have to admit it got a little confusing in some places. It kept me reading untill 4:00 in the morning (really it did!) This book has a great plot for all you "sweep" fans out there. Its about a girl, Holly, whos parents and best friend are killed in a rafting accident and she is sent to live in Seattle with an aunt she doesent even know. What she finds in Seattle is mystery. Things start happening to her that she can't explain. And then she meets this hottie at the local hang out and they are drawn to one another for a reason they can't explain (yet). and that is really where things start pickin up. You really have to pay attention in the end and put 2 and 2 together so pay attention! It makes sense if you do. Overall I thought it was great and I can't wait to read the next one.

Summary: A new Witch series!
Review: I must say that I really liked this book! I just got done reading the Sweep Series by Cate Tiernan and I would suggest this new series to everyone that likes witches, suspense, and long lost love. At first it was a little hard following the first chapter but as you read it becomes quite clear. It's a really good read. All through the book I so wanted to see Jer and Holly really get together. I can't wait till the next book Curse comes out. Happy reading! ~ Di
