Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: The most enriching book ever Review: This book helps twins or even siblings come in terms with who they are.I can totally relate, its all about being yourself even though you have somebody who might look like you. I like how the main character figurerd out what she really wanted in the world not what someone else wanted her to have. This book is all about life and what we can do or become if we only follow our dreams.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: It was interesting and very detailed with a setting Review: I liked this book because it was so full of detail and had a setting i could relate to; being a Marylander. I depicted typical Eastern shore Island life in the 1940's and it is still that was today! I could have done without all Louise's whining about her sister in the beginning.
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: Whats the big deal????????? Review: I don't get what the big deal is about this book. I practically fell asleep while reading it! Sara Louise is a nothing but a whiner!
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Wonderful Review: This story tells the story of a teenage girl living on an island in MA, during WWII, and how she grew out of her twin sister's shadow.
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: Why do people like this? Review: I still fail to understand why this is such a popular book. I hated it the first time I read it and read it again because I thought I must be missing something. If I was, I guess I'm still missing it. The entire book is a girl whining about how her life stinks. I can understand that she isn't happy, but it is her own fault. She doesn't do anything and then expects to have equal attention with her twin who does. She is ready to take offense at anything even when it isn't really unfair.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Incredibly riveting novel Review: I highly recommend this novel. It deals with difficult, but very real and raw emotions between siblings. The author Katerine Paterson is one of the best story tellers that young people of this generation can read and understand. The story has everything! A tale of family relationships, and rivalry between twins, set in the 1940's era in the Chesapeake Bay. I enjoyed this book for it's dramatic intensity, fullness of the characterizations, believability, and honest dealing with many teen issues. Also, it took place in a locale that we don't usually read about. I will never forget these characters. Paterson is a wonderful writer. I read this book to catch up on children's lit for the age group I will be teaching this coming school year. Fifth graders on up should really read this book. They will certainly come away enriched. I discovered Paterson after reading her riveting "Bridge to Terabithia", another must read.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: A MAGNIFICENT BOOK WITH REAL LIFE EXPERIENCES Review: The author brings the '40s back to life. Putting more depts into the lifestyles of the '40s and the decade of FDR, not in general, but as a whole perspective. This book defined the moral of life and express the characters' emotions. Well-written, recommend to those in need of courage and fate.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: This is an AMAZING book. A must-read for anyone! Review: I love this book. I am 20 years old and it is still my favorite book of any genre of all time (and I've read *a lot* of books). I have re-read it many times. This is an exceptional novel. It deals sensitively, honestly, and above all realistically with a young woman coming to terms with herself. It is not melodramatic, preachy, nor maudlin and even the most painful moments are done with humor and grace. Sara Louise is a rare heroine in the realm of 'young adult' novels. Her character is fully realized as a whole person, with deep emotions, conflicts, and desires. 'Jacob Have I Loved' reaches a level of depth, honesty, and *quality* that only the very best of young adult literature ever reach. This book does not compromise its integrity by trying to add cutesy touches, glossing over uncomfortable situations, or adding a pat ending. Do not confuse this book with light entertainment reading. Even cynical adults would enjoy this novel. 'Jacob Have I Loved' accomplishes what fine literature seeks to do. It engages and entertains you while at the same time making you think. And leaves a lasting impression. I highly recommend it.
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: A Very Surprising Book Review: It was a sad yet true book. Life is not always fair and that what it says in this book.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Ups and Downs Review: The book drew me in and was very enjoyable as I read it, in most parts. However, sooo much info was stuffed in the end of the book. Things that should have taken maybe 40 pages to right about was suddenly all crammed into the last few pages of the book. In my opinion, it moved way to fast at the end. Besides that, I enjoyed it. However, it didn't properly address all the worries of kids. It addressed the jealousy of a "better" sister that everyone else loves. But problems with families were not realistic, besides the jealousy. This is probably because it took place in the 1940's, when families had different problems. However, besides that, I basically just enjoyed reading the book.
