Rating: Summary: makes my top ten Review: though the art is a little choppy it is still a nice comic. batman is not as young as he used to be hes 52 and has to take on freaks that movie faster than him the joker (more crazy than ever) and superman. robin is a girl who saves batmans life. alfred has no real importance at the beginig but at the end he... overall a good book. if there is a batman 5 it should be based on this (bring back burton!!). i say buy this today.
Rating: Summary: Dont Read The "word to your mother" Review. Review: Dont read the "word to your mother" review. The person who wrote that review says that he hates Batman and that he will never read another comic again. He states that he will buy some acne cream and get a life. The reviewer, called Imnotfrechdammit, is clearly a troubled little boy with acne problems and a hate for Batman. Now, I liked Dark Knight Returns. Imnotfrenchdammit never says why he hates the comic, and says that comic readers are losers. Now, I bet that everyone and their brother has more of a life than he does. So read his review if you want to waste your time, and be .... off, or do what I did and write a review bashing him. And to answer his question of "why is he named Batman?", a bat is a symbol of terror and he uses that symbol to strike fear into the hearts of his enemies. Batman Rocks!!
Rating: Summary: Word to your mother Review: I hate batman. It is stupid. Why is he called batman if none of his powers have anything to do with bats. In fact, I've decided to stop reading comics. I'm going to get a life, a maybe buy some pimple cream. Which is what all you people out there should do too. Give me a "not helpful." I don't care. Stupid Frenchies.
Rating: Summary: Miller+Batman=Dynamic Novel Review: It's Batman at his finest: old, rugged, weathered, and wise. But he's up to no good as he becomes public enemy number one. Features one of the greatest battles between Batman and... well, you have to see it to appreciate it.
Rating: Summary: Buy It Review: Batman has always been a fan favorite, there has been ups and downs in the writings for the comic books and at times I felt the theme of Batman was lost. Its really about the dark knight, this is an excellent book with an good storyline. You won't be dissapointed.
Rating: Summary: The Best Review: I read Batman comics all the time when I was younger, but it wasn't until I turned 18 that I finally read this comic. I was totally blown away. This comic has to be read twice just to take it all in. It did so much for comics, it's like the star wars of the comics world. The basic plot is about Bruce Wayne coming out of retirement and becoming Batman one last time in order to save Gotham from destroying itself. It is in four parts, and you will have a hard time putting it down. The writing is the best you can get, you truly feel what the characters are feeling and the story is incredibly complex and compelling. The ending is operatic and amazing. The artwork is also great to look at. With out a doubt, this is the greatest masterpiece of a comic ever written. Strongly suggested over it's pointless sequel The Dark Knight Strikes Again.
Rating: Summary: I feel [...] Review: I'll get right to the point. DK2 is a big let down. I was really looking forward to this, but in the end I was disappointed. I won't give away any spoilers, however, readers should know before they lay down their cash that Batman is hardly even in the book. You barely see him in part one, and he is not in that much of parts 2 and 3 either. Superman, his daughter, The Atom, and Catwoman, are in the story more than Batman. Plus the ending was terrible. This did not give me the epic feeling that "The Dark Knight Returns" gave me...
Rating: Summary: World's Finest... Review: In 1986, comic book maverick Frank Miller, took the Batman character in a bold new direction with the landmark mini-series, The Dark Knight Returns. Now, some 16 years later, after revisting the story again, it still remains my favorite bat tale...PERIOD. Not even Miller's recent sequel, The Dark Knight Strikes Again comes close to this What a letdown that was...nothing beats the original classic.THE STORY- Sometime in the future and Gotham City is without its hero. Crime rules and the criminals have taken over. Batman is presumed dead. He is not. He is "retired" and in seclusion. However, when old ememies threaten to take over the city, our hero is called back into action, and decides that this time, things will be different. He takes on a female sidekick called Robin and the duo prepare to take back the city. Filled with action, drama, and bitting social commentary from Miller, the story is a multilayered masterpiece that has stayed with me to this day. THE ART-Miller, Klaus Janson, and Lynn Varley gave the series a classic look, while at the same time, giving the art a unique style. The layout of the series kept the reader visually intestested. The panels vary in size on a given page but it never seems overdone. The fact that the artists never give the reader flash, just for the sake of it, makes me appereciate it all the more. The use of a lot of grays, black, white, and soft blue, match the story's mood just pefectly. The 10th anniversary edition gives readers the entire four part story as originally published. Special features include an introduction from Miller that explains how the story came to be At the end of the book, there's a cover gallery from the books when they were originally released, and a peek at the original treatment proposal for the first part of the series, Miller handed execs at DC, complete with rough sketches. The book has 224 pages. and is a must read for anyone, whether you like Batman or not ***** Stars Just remember avoid the sequel and stick with the original.
Rating: Summary: Get it!!... Review: I am new to the batman thing and to Frank Miller. I enjoyed Batman the Dark night so much that i writing you to tell you about it. In short... you will be happy.
Rating: Summary: A soul stirring epic Review: There are few books that truly capture the human spirit at it's finest.. there are few tales that stick in your mind long after they're over.. few books hat keep you awake at night dwelling on the meaning hidden in thier pages... This is one of them.. The dark Knight returns is unlike any other comic story I've read..(Forgive my inexperience) Alan Moore is a brilliant incisive writer whose work demands the painted page but Miller is the true renaissance man, he writes and draws it all.. He takes a character who is a class act but was and still is terribly presented (expolited) by DC.. and makes him a god.. The story is epic... read the other reviews to find out about it.. What gets you is the heart he (FM) puts into it.. The art is often described as great in the begining and wilts to the end.. Rubbish.. Miller evolves himself.. Batman is shown being worn slowly to a nub and his exhaustion is felt in each page.. and the end shows his rejuvenation... The tale works on so many levels.. a boy of 15 may be bored quickly with it since it demands your complete attention.. But have no doubt.. this is the rare book you can read next week, next year, when you're 50.. and still be moved.. The analogies that can be drawn from this books multiply and multiply.. We are all called to be men, heroes and gods, instead we bow down and bent over to the ignorant, the unjust, the fearful.. Do I reccommend this book.. yes.. Buy it and share it with as many people as possible..
