Summary: Nannie Little Rose...
Review: Taken from her home in the open, rolling hills, Little Rose faces complicants and joys. This novel is a tale of her adventurous journey through hardships of her life. Forced to have her braids cut and her hopes flee, Nannie Little Rose faces the troubles of being alone, forbidden to speak her language and think her ways. Learning english is hard, but she fufills.

I dont want to give the plot away so I will stop there. I'm enjoy Dear America books. I recommend this book!

Summary: A Travesty
Review: When Ann Rinaldi decided to write a book about such a delicate subject you would think that she would take the time to speak with Native Americans who attended boarding schools against their will in the 50's and 60's. Even if this was a different time period, the isolation and mistreatment still existed. The fact that she found the names for her characters in a nearby cemetary should have been a clue as to the conditions these children lived in. Using their names to represent children who saw the school as a nurturing place to live is a travesty. If you want to really understand the plight of Native Americans forced to live in government boarding schools this is not the book to choose.

Summary: One of the best
Review: First of all: ever since my second grade history class, I was always facinated by the Sioux Indians history, culture, etc. So, when I found this book, i had to get. When I read, it was kind of hard to understand the broken English in the beginning, but as Nannie Little Rose learns more, the easier it is to understand. Since it's been a while since I read this book, I dont remember to much, so i dont want to say anything, and have it be wrong.

Summary: A Highlight of the Dear America Books!
Review: This is a very good book, and you should definetely read it! I really enjoyed it, and it kept me more interested in finishing it than all the other Dear America books I have read. The story of Nannie Little Rose made me more interested in the hard life of indians living on reservations in the past and in the present time. The things that indians had to do to be sure and have a future, like go to schools where they take your indian things and cut your hair, fobid you to speak your own language, give you a new name, and basicly make you forget your past, are all recorded in Nannie Little Rose's diary. I rate this book five stars and definetely recommend it. You should read it!

Summary: A Wonderful Book!
Review: I enjoyed every page of this book. It is different from all of the historical fiction books I've read, and it stands out in my mind. It follows Little Rose (a Sioux Indian) as she gets educated at Carlisle Indian School in the 1880's. When she gets to Carlisle, her life changes. Her Indian clothes are taken away, her hair cut, and she takes a "white man's" name, Nannie. This diary is wonderful, through Nannie Little Rose's good times and her bad.

Summary: I cannot recommend this book to anyone!
Review: First of all, I thought the book was poorly written. The language is stilted and annoying to read. The plot is filled with inconsistencies. Most importantly, it is not historically accurate. Just from reading the author's historical notes, you can tell she took considerable artistic license. I wondered why the research was even conducted or included in the book when most of it was obviously ignored. (...)

I just hope this book is not indicative of the series as a whole.

Summary: My Heart is on the Ground Review
Review: I liked this book a lot, like all the other books in the series. Unlike the others, it has few deaths, but these ones are more serious to the main character. You will like this book.

Summary: Nannie Little Rose L.F.K.
Review: The main character is Nannie Little Rose. She is brave and shy. She really works hard to learn the English ways. She is a Sioux Indian that was sent to an English school by her father. She has to go through the loss of friends and what it feels like to be left behind.
The plot of the story is about how the Indians sold their land to the English, and English cheated them. It is also about how Indian children got along in the English world.
I think someone should read this book because it tells how hard it was for Indians to make it in our world.

Summary: My heart Is On The Ground by L.F.K.
Review: I thought this book was sad but informed me of some of the stuff that was going on back then. I really enjoyed reading the book. Some of the writing in the book is very sad and emotional but other writing is happy and cheerful.
The main character is Nannie Little Rose. She is head strong ,but loves learning. She is a sioux indain and was sent to a school ,to learn the English ways, by her dad.
This book is about a young girl in America. She goes through hard stuff but always makes it though. It tells how hard things were back then compared to want we have now. It is mainly about what a tough time Indians had trying to learn the American ways.
I would recommed this book to anyone how every wonders what life was like years ago when Indains sold their land to the white people.

Summary: What I thought of this book
Review: I really did not like this book. I got it the year it came out and to this day I have not finished it. It bored me to be blunt. I couldn't understand the broken English or why anyone would read it.But maybe you'll like it, I don't know If you like this period in history buy a history book not this book.
