Summary: Title Undefended and undefined
Review: Dr. Zach has written on a Good Cover with a Good Heading but, forgot to defend and bring out the Infallibility of the True Word! Being an Easterner myself, I strongly feel Dr. Zach should have dwelt into bringing out the Christ from Eternity past to Everlasting. Furthermore, If he were Comparing Jesus to other gods, a good analysis of the Eastern Religious Doctrine should have been written, thus, giving a Comparative Analysis of the Christ from Eternity Past to Everlasting with the Eastern gods. I do find a great deal of paralysis of thoughts, with details that are magnified which are utterly, off the tangent to the context matter.

Much could have been done to this book, before it saw the light of the day.

Summary: Baby steps to intolerance
Review: In an era where our teachers and ministers alike are striving ever harder to imbue our children with a sense of the beauty of cultural diversity and concord among the peoples of the world, Johnson and Zacharias' contribution to children's literature is shameful and backward. According to Johnson and Zacharias, being a good Christian means affirming that "our" God is not "their" God, that modern science is dubious, and that a layman's survey of the bible is sufficient preparation for spiritual independence. Ignoring modern critical scholarship of the bible (but emphasizing inconsistencies in non-Christian texts), the children's version of Jesus Among Other Gods teaches that religious exploration is for clever people like Zacharias but not for those who really want to reflect on the nature of God, salvation and religious observance. That this book should be on any child's bookshelf is a tragedy.

Summary: All Religions Are Not The Same
Review: In the age of pluralism, where tolerance is espoused as the greatest virtue, Ravi Zacharias boldly defends the Christian message and its uncompromising claim that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He emphasizes that when comparing world religions, the only right conclusions must be based in truth rather than on prevailing moods. Zacharias examines the way which Jesus handled some of life's critical questions compared to the answers offered by world religions (primarily Hinduism, Buddhism, and Islam). Essentially he compares Christianity to other belief systems and concludes that there is no comparison. Despite popular sentiment to the contrary, all religions are not the same. According to Zacharias, faith in Christ is the only one that stands the test.

Though Zacharias' personal testimony is fascinating and his philosophical, theological, and historical arguments are persuasive, the book did not satisfy my expectations. I was anticipating a more thorough evaluation of Christianity in direct comparison to world religions. Instead, I found a fair apologetic with only cursory analyses of and comparisons with other belief systems (including atheistic humanism). "Jesus Among Other Gods" is neither a complete apologetic nor a thorough study of comparative religion. It is; however, an interesting and enlightening study from a thoughtful and knowledgeable author and is therefore a worthwhile book investment.

Zacharias examines how Jesus handled some of life's critical questions compared to the answers offered by the world religions (primarily Hinduism, Buddhism, and Islam). Essentially he compares Christianity to other belief systems and concludes that there is no comparison. Despite popular sentiment to the contrary, all religions are not basically the same. Faith in Christ is the only one that stands the test.

Summary: Challenging our assumptions
Review: Buddhism, Islam, Judaism, Hinduism and Christianity are not all the same. Christianity offers a radically different approach to how to make sense of life. The American civil myth that all religions are basically the same is silly and insulting to every faith, as Zacharius shows. Don't go near this book if you don;t want to be challenged. But if you are looking to make some sense of the mess we call pluralism, give this a fair reading.

Summary: A new light on the gospels
Review: This is an essential book in Christian apologetics, because Ravi brings not only his deep love of Christ, but also his deep familiarity with (other) Eastern religions into play as he analyzes the Gospels with respect to Christ's uniqueness, as well as his absolute claims. Ravi connects us with the Middle Eastern culture underpinning the gospels in a fresh and inspiring way, and if you let him, he'll transform the way you view Jesus forever. This book opens your eyes to the power of Jesus' message.

Summary: Jesus Among Other Gods
Review: Ravi Zacharias does an excellent job of comparing the truth of Jesus against the claims of other gods in other mainstream religions. He also presents the information in such a way as to inform the reader of the Middle Eastern religious practices and how they impact not only the non-Christian view of Christ, but Christ's own way of presenting himself in His Word. Although he examines the facts in an logical, factual way, he does so while explaining the divine saving nature of Christ in a personal relationship. This is an excellent read.

Summary: fundamentalism here we go.
Review: I didn't buy the book actually, I spent one afternoon reading this so-called book, and the only logic I've found is this:

"IT IS TRUE BECAUSE IS MY RELIGION". "IT IS BETTER BECAUSE IT'S MINE". "IT IS GREAT BECAUSE I LIKE IT".

So sad I didn't find zero stars.

There is this saying: "the evolution of man is the evolution of his consciousness" I can imagine what level of consciousness this author has and I truly understand him because I was in the same level when I was a teenager... being tempted by fundamentalism, not anymore though. I just keep smiling when I smell them ;)

I don't see any difference at all in the real teachings of Jesus, Budha, or krishna. They all teach Love, Compassion and unity w/ all that is ... i.e. god.

You wanna read a beautiful piece of work, read "Autobiography of a Yogi", it's cheaper, and WAY MUCH LOFTIER, you'll love it no matter what your religion is.

Summary: A Must Read
Review: Dr. Zacharias does a masterful job of defending the Christian faith against the beliefs that are antithetical to the gospel message. He gives a clear headed and rational defense of the Christian faith by presenting the gospel's uniquenes. In his presentation he counters thinkers such as Chopra and Dawkins and presents the incoherence of their beliefs. Dr. Zacharias offers, here, challenging arguments that will answer the questions of the skeptic. A must read for anyone who desires to minister to the Gen - X, postmodern culture.

Summary: A glimpse at apologetics
Review: This book is an attempt at apologetics, but I wasn't very impressed. This title implies that I should be able to understand the major differences as a result of the reading. Instead, one gets a few pieces of the puzzle with a lot of verbage to fill the page. I can't see how anyone but the ignorant signing up to Christianity with the use of this text. At best, one can hope that an unsaved reader would seek out something much more detailed.
