Rating: Summary: The best book I've ever read!!!!!! Review: In the book "Silver", by Norma Fox Mazer, the main characters are Sarabeth Silver, Patty Lewis, Grant Varrow and Mark Embelsky. Sarabeth Silver is a simple girl who lives in a trailer park with her mom. Sarabeth's best friends call her Silver. Patty Lewis is a very confused, cold, girl. She lives with her uncle, whom she hates, because her mother cannot afford to rent an apartment.. Grant Varrow is the girl Sarabeth had to be friends with. Grant was popular and hung out with a "clique", consisting of Asa, Jennifer, and Patty. Mark Embelsky was the boy Silver liked. Mark goes to a different school and is obsessed with "Saving Mother Earth". The setting of this book is in Roadview Trailer Park and Drumins. Sarabeth Silver lives in the part of Roadview Trailer Park that is part of the Drumins School district.. Silver moved there because Silver's mom wanted her to go to the best school. Drumins is a rich town and everybody there has at least 3 cars. Silver, being poor, feels extremely out of place there until she meets Grant. ... I enjoyed this book because of the way the author grabbed the reader into the book. I take pleasure from books that are different and the strong subject of this book is not found in any books. The book "Silver" had something I have never in life thought about much. It was the most engaging and hysterical book I've ever read. I recommend it to any mature girl wo wants to read something out of the ordinary.

Rating: Summary: An involving book that had feelings for every character. Review: Norma Mazer's short novel, Silver, was focused on a young woman, Sarabeth Silver, who had her life altered transferring to a different school. In this new school most of the occupants came from rich house-holds, contrasting Sarabeth's house which was a trailer. Sarabeth lived at home with her working mother and cat who she seemed to always find comfort in when it was needed. Through the tough begining at her new school, Sarabeth manages to find a friend, Grant, who is somewhat popular and rich. Becoming friends with Grant leads her into a small clique of close friends. While being accepted she also finds herself crushing over a boy who leads her on for quite a long time. With her new friends she realizes, even though she isn't as rich, she has a healthier life. Along with her own money problems, she has to cope with her friends issues that are deep. So deep that it comes to a point when one of her friends needs her to lean on for almost everything. All-in-all Silver focuses on how having money in your life doesn't always reflect your personal life. Sometimes it is easier to pretend your life is fine and live with the stereotype that life is grand being rich instead of living in the reality.
Rating: Summary: Money isn't everything Review: Of all NFM's books, this one is my favorite. It is humorous and touching. It's about a teenager named Sarabeth who lives in a trailer park. Her mother makes them move into a new trailer so they'll be in a different school district and Sarabeth can get a better education at a different school. Unfortunately, most of the kids at Sarabeth's new school are wealthy, and she isn't. Nevertheless, she makes friends with a clique of rich girls. Through them, she learns that money can't buy happiness. One aloof girl named Patty has a crucial problem. What is it? Can Sarabeth help her? Sarabeth also has troubles of her own with Mark, her new boyfriend. Any teenage girl could relate to at least some of the situations in "Silver". This is a great book that almost anyone would enjoy.
Rating: Summary: Silver Sparkles! Review: Sarabeth Silver is a teen who lives in a trailer park with hermom and cat, Tobias. When she transfers schools during the middle ofthe year, she starts to envy a clique of four girls - Patty, Asa, Jennifer, and her "idol", Grant. Sarabeth is taken by surprise when Grant "adopts" her and becomes her best friend, AND allows her into the clique. Sarabeth still favors Grant through her transition. But when Patty reveals a shocking secret to her they become very good friends, much to Grant's dismay. Patty's secret could force her and her mother out of their glamorous mansion or cause her more pain than she has ever experianced. This book was very good. The only complaints I have is that some plots were not developed fully and Patty's secret (I'm not a surprise spoiler!) was. . . well you'll have to read the book and find out!
Rating: Summary: DON'T MISS THIS BOOK ! Review: Sarabeth Silver is definitely not rich and certainly isn't sophisticated. Grant and her friends are definitely both. Sarabeth slowly gets closer to Grant and she can't figure out why Grant wants to be her friend. Sarabeth also becomes good friends with Jennifer, Asa, and Patty as well. When Patty tells Sarabeth a terrible secret, she wants to tell somebody, but dares not for the risk of losing her friends. Norma Fox Mazer writes a fascinating book that keeps you on your toes.
Rating: Summary: Excellent book! Review: Sarabeth Silver lives with her mother in Roadview Trailer Park. Her mother had her at sixteen, and her father was killed in a ... accident. Sarabeth is moved from her plain old public school to what she calls a 'snob school'. She admires pretty, popular Grant Varrow and is amazed when she ends up friends with Grant. Grant is in a clique with her best buddies, Patty, Asa and Jennifer. At first, Sarabeth feels left out by Grant's other friends, but soon they grow close; all except for Patty Lewis. Patty is beautiful, but she has moods, and is cold towards Sarabeth. But why? Silver was the most AMAZING book. I've never read one as good.
Rating: Summary: Silver Review: Silver By Norma Fox Mazer A reader's first impression of Silver by Norma Fox Mazer will probably be that the story is about a mother daughter relationship. But you will soon realize that there is a lot more to this story than you think. It's a story of happiness, hatred, and a secret that is more painful than anything you've ever known. Sarabeth Silver, a fourteen-year-old teenager, is resisting a move away from all of her friends at Morrisview Central. She is afraid to move and nobody will like her because it's nothing but rich kids. She is convinced that she will have no friends, and nobody will accept her because she is not rich herself. Her mom tells her that they are moving, and so they did. All she could think about was new school, new bus, new class, and new peers. She made it through the first couple of weeks. Then Sarabeth started hanging out with Grant Varrow and her friends. They hung out everyday, and got to know each other better. After awhile Grant asked her if she wanted to come to Patties sleepover, and she did. They did lots of things together at the sleepover. They had pillow fights, popcorn fights, and they talked about boys. Then Patty starts crying and she tells her horrible secret. I think this book is really interesting, and I like how it tells how these four friends stay together through thick and thin.
Rating: Summary: Don't jugde a book by its cover Review: Silver is a good book for young adults. This book talks about a young girl who's mom is a house keeper. She goes to a new Middle school where the rich kids go to. At first she feels uncomfortable at the school she attends because she didn't know nobody there but then she starts getting friends. Frinds that have painful secrets. This book is about how teenagers help each other in different situations. As a 15 year old I feel that this book was for younger girls than 15 but it really was interesting.
