Rating: Summary: an amazing book Review: ok, so what to say about this book? well it is so hard to put down, i've read it around 20 times. maybe this book is good to me because i am a cutter, i cut my arms and legs basically everyday. now i dont see it as a problem but enough about me. this book also deals with drug abuse, bulemia, teen sex and the main characters get through it. maybe not in the best ways but still. this is a good book to put it simply, and i'd recommened it to anyone. the only reason that i didnt give it 5 stars is because katie dies and the nancy learns the error of her ways, which is .... but its still a great book.
Rating: Summary: best book, crosses Review: I have to say this is sutch a good book i read it in 2 days (i dont read nothing) i could somewhat relate to this book being a teenager and all. also because i cut my self at times i dont do drugs or smoke though ive tried smoking but its no good, i loved the book exept that katie died, and that nancy had to learn the hard way by lossing her boy friend and her best friend. i recomend this book to all you teenagers it real good u wont whant to put it down.
Rating: Summary: Imitation Review: I didn't really like the book, Crosses, by Shelley Stoehr. It seemed like it was an imitation, and a more modern version of a FANTASTIC book called Go Ask Alice, by Anonomous. Crosses just got old. All they talked about was drugs, and how Nancy and Katie always got stoned, high, or drunk. This was not the greatest book I've ever read. I don't recomend it.

Rating: Summary: The best book I have ever read... Review: I have read several other books on the same topic and Crosses was by FAR the best. I recommend this book to anyone and everyone! READ THIS BOOK!!! You won't regret it!
Rating: Summary: One of my top ten favourite books Review: I can totally relate to how Nancy feels! I'm a cutter too, so I also know how cutting feels like an endorphin rush. A way to feel better. This book is wonderfully written.
Rating: Summary: CROSSING HERSELF OUT Review: The protagonist of this story which is set in Babylon, Long Island is an angry young punker named Nancy. Her alcoholic parents have little to recommend them and are generally despicable and odious. Nancy describes the abuse she suffered from her mother throughout the book. She "crosses" her parents out of her lif. Nancy is suffering from more than adolescent angst. The story opens in 1985 when the then 15-year-old Nancy tires of conforming and presenting a seemingly wholesome image. She adopts the punk trappings of the 1980s, yet she offers a softening contrast to the hardened, nihilistic 1980s look with her love for 1970s rocker, David Bowie. She meets a classmate named Katie with whom she finds many common bonds. Both love David Bowie; both have turned to recreational drugs and both have a terrifying secret: they cut themselves. Katie, at 5'10" cuts an imposing figure indeed. Raised by her single mother, the 15-year-old is left to her own devices. She and Nancy share cutter stories; both explain that since they have nobody else to inflict harm on or vent their anger on, they turn on themselves. Nancy is an outcast at Babylon High School; when a classmate sees her cutting herself, that classmate ostracizes her as do most of the other kids. Katie is the one friend Nancy feels she can depend on. But can she? Katie's cutting escalates to an extreme level and Nancy has to recognize what coping mechanisms she has. She also has to learn to recognize whether or not Katie is a friend or a "cutting buddy," somebody who triggers the desire to cut herself. A gritty, painful book that will leave readers with a lot to think about.
Rating: Summary: April; McIntyre; 3rd period Review: I thought this was a really good book. It said a lot of things that can help people through life. The book was about these two girls who cut themselves because of how thier lives are and how they think they can get through life by hurting themselves to make everything better, which is not right, you can't get through life by hurting yourself it wont make anything better it will just make things worst.I hope other people enjoy this book as much as i have.
Rating: Summary: WOW Review: WOW!!! I think in my lifetime i have actually finished reading about 2 novels i started... But the first day I picked up "Crosses", I couldn't put it down. Living in a small town and being part of a punk crowd of like 10 people at the most, I can relate totally to the characters in the book. After I finished it (the same day I started it) I broke down and felt bad about the bad past I lived and it wasn't until I read this book I noticed that. I wish I could meet Shelley Stoehr and shake her had and tell her just how presice she is on the topic.. I don't think I'll be able to pick up another book as good as this one. I want to steal it from my school library cause it's just that good!! But I think I'll order it instead..
