Review: Some people try to think they can make good books, by someone getting their tongue cut out, or write a story about midieval times that isn't even one bit interesting. This book is just a typical boring, wanna-be book and has no plot except for some kid going through feudalism. Don't read this book unless you want to be bored.

Review: the book is the best book i have ever read. the author has done an exclent job bringing the characters to life. you grow to love Evyn and Harold, just as they love each other. this book is very heartwarming and entertaining. At the end i have to confess i cried. all in all i recomond it to anyone with a tase for a good read.

Review: The cover art of this book was ugly, but I bought the book anyways since the story was very unique and rare, I just love old historical fictions on England. I enjoyed this as much as Alder's The NINE DAYS QUEEN.

Summary: Probably the best first novel I've ever read.
Review: This book is excellent! Right from the beginning, the story is compelling. Evyn loses his dreams. What will he do? Who would have thought that such ancient heroes could be brought to life so colorfully? How could I cry at the death of the last Saxon king, knowing that English would not be the same today if he had lived? How could I not, after reading this book? I was extremely impressed to read that this book is a first novel. The plot and characterization are excellent. This book is suspenseful, and has people that I enjoyed spending time with. I will never think about the Angles and Saxons the same way again. I will recommend this book to all my friends. I can't wait to read her next book!

Review: This book was not one of my favorite books but it has practically all the requirements for a good book. Emotion, action ect. It got off to a slow start but picked up later on. Though action usually happens at certain times, it is well worth the wait. I do not want to give this book away by a summary of the whole story but I will say this; Evyn a voiceless squire, finally meets somebody who will respect him, and becomes that king's personal friend. I do not recommend this book to people with a short attention span. But I promise the ending is so unexpected, it is definetly well worth the wait.

Summary: The book shot me with a tranqulizer, I slept well.
Review: This book was, without question, super boring, except for the battles where people died. That was cool. The rest was just cowardly remarks about being not brave enough to do anything for his king. This book is a new different style of reading that was fun for two seconds but anything after that was like a sleeping pill, I can't believe I read the entire thing!

Review: This is a book about, sorrow,joy,grief,morality and humanity.(Sorry, no romance.Not much anyway.=P)What really burns me up, though, is Duke Williams barbaric ways, and still turning out victorious albeit losing a lot of men.Plus Harolds getting killed by an arrow through hs eye.If you haven't read the book yet and are planning to, forget what I just wrote.

Review: This is one of the absolute best books I've ever read. If you're looking for a senseless book full of gore, then you're looking at the wrong book. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and it gave me a new view on the historical background of King Harold, as well as William the Conqueror..It gives a new aspect on the happenings of war..I believe it to be one of the best books for young adults with the story placed in the medieval time period. It not only satisfied my apetite for history, it also satisfied the need for imagery and character. The setting was wonderful, and the characters, alive; the battle scenes enthralling...the story- touching. This is a must read, by a fabulous author. Keep writing, Elizabeth Alder!
