Rating: Summary: One of my favorite books from childhood! Review: I read this book in the third grade (18 years ago) and have such fond and clear memories of it that I've been searching in libraries and bookstores for a copy! It really got me excited about history.
Rating: Summary: One of the author's most talented works! Review: I read this book several years ago because I LOVED the Prydain Chronicles, and to say the least, I was expecting something equel to that. I realize now that that was an extremely high standard to set, but even so I was not disapointed! I can never look at my cat in the same way again! The story is about Jason and his cat Gareth, and out of love for his confused friend, Gareth decides to take Jason with him on his routine time travel journeys (apparently all cats take these) and to communicate with him in the human way. On an epic jouney through time, they visit places like Ancient Egypt, Medieval Ireland, Ancient Rome, and many others. And through it all they learn a little something at the end too. I would recommend this book to anyone with a bit of imagination, though kids ages twelve and under would probably enjoy it best.
Rating: Summary: A Traveling Cat Review: I really liked this book. Gareth is a cat with a weird white spot on his chest. He is a cat that can talk. He also has the power to travel through time. When Gareth tells his best friend and owner Jason that he can travel thgrough time, they go on their first time travel together. Ancient Egypt is the first adventure out of nine time travels. What will happen to Gareth and Jason? What will they encounter on their many adventure? Read the book and find out.
Rating: Summary: Going Through Time! Review: I think everyone should read this book because Gareth and Jason have so many adventures. One of them was when they go to ancient Egypt. Another adventure was when they went to Germany and visited a Witch Village. A nice lady told Jason not to walk around in broad daylight with a cat! The author was great because he made all the characters understandable. I also liked the book because the places they went to always had a cat involved.
Rating: Summary: An easy read...... Review: I think Time Cat was a good book! I love cats so it was an easy and fun read. Gareth and Jason have many exciting adventures traveling through time and visiting many far away places like Egypt, Japan, Ireland and many other countries around the world. Gareth and Jason are like "time-travel missionaries" that go around the world telling people how they should care for their cats and how to treat them. All I can say is that after reading this book I want a talking cat that takes me through time all over the world whenever I want! The story is magical, but the book gets a little slow and hard to finish towards the end.

Rating: Summary: Time Cat Review: If you are interested in world history or love cats, then this book is for you. In this book, a boy named Jason finds out from his talking cat, that cats do not have nine lives, but instead can visit nine different lives. They have the ability to travel to nine different time periods. Jason convinces his cat, Gareth, to take Jason with him. Every two chapters Gareth and Jason travel to another time period. They end up visiting Egypt in 2700 B.C., Rome and Britain in 55 B.C., Ireland in 411 A.D., Japan in 998 A.D., Italy in 1468, Peru in 1555, The Isle of Man in 1588, Germany in 1600, and America in 1775. In each of these places, Jason and Gareth are involved in famous events or are with famous people from that time period. Sometimes they come across characters that are friendly and helpful, and other times they meet characters that want to destroy them. I liked the fact that not only did this book give the reader information about the time period, it tied in how cats fit into that part of history. For example, in ancient Egypt cats were worshiped. There Gareth was brought to the pharaoh. In Germany in 1600, cats were thought to be demons and were killed. I do not usually like fantasy books, but I liked this book because it is a mix of fantasy and historical fiction.
Rating: Summary: Time travel around the world with a remarkable cat Review: In this imaginative story a cat uses his extaordinary power to travel through time to nine different places around the world in nine different centuries with his boy companion. Lloyd Alexander has succeeded in combining world history with fantasy and adventure to produce a story that is filled with excitement. His fabulous imagery draws the reader into the story immediately. Great read for ages 8 and up.
Rating: Summary: Not just fluff ... Review: Is it a time-travel book? A story about a boy and his cat? Or a history text? It turns out to be all three, as Jason and his cat are carried through historically real places and events. Most kids who read it won't even realize they've learned something until they get into History in Middle School and say to themselves, "hey! I learned that in Time Cat!" That's what reading is all about.
