Summary: Judy Blume has done it again!
Review: Summer Sisters is a wonderfully woven tale of the lives of two girls from childhood to adulthood. It contains just the right amount of laughs and tears to keep you from putting it down. If you love Judy Blume, you'll love Summer Sisters. She needs to write for adults more often!!

Summary: WOW!
Review: WOW! How does she do it? How can she capture you within the first 5 pages of the book. Obviously I loved Summer Sisters. It was easy reading, a page turner. I read the book on vacation in 1 1/2 days. Judy Blume has a unique way of reaching the female soul no matter how old. Vix and Caitlin are real, mischevious and loveable. I felt as if I knew them personally. It's one of those books that stays on your mind days after you've finished. If don't read this one, you'll be sorry!

Summary: Fantastic...Touching...Real...
Review: This is the best book that I've read in a long time. It was so sincere and real. I read the whole book in one day, because I could not put it down, by the end I was laughing and crying for each and every character, because I fealt I knew them so well. It was very touching and easy to relate to. The writing brings you into the middle of it all, like you were right there. Fantastic.

Summary: Great Summertime book!
Review: My 18 year old daughter bought me this book for my birthday .... and gave it to me AFTER she read it!! What a wonderful book. Buy it, read it, pass it on! Vix and Caitlan are girls we all knew and had as friends during our childhood. It's a strange relationship, but one that each of them needs and desires. True to life is the fact that Vix and Caitlan are each jealous of what the other one has. Vix wants the kind of family that Caitlan has and Caitlan just wants everything that Vix has ... no matter how little it is. If you pick this book up to read, don't expect to put it down until you have finished it!

Summary: EXCELLENT!! I couldn't put it down.
Review: Judy Blume is a master at capturing the essence of young girls entering womanhood. I wish she would write more adult novels. It was simply amazing!

Summary: Loved it and passed it along to all of my friends to read.
Review: This was a book that i flew through! i read it from cover to cover in two days- and was so sad when it was over! i liked both WIFEY and SMART WOMEN but this book was the best so far from the adult books by Judy - i just wanted to say that i highly recommend this book and cant wait till her next one.

Summary: Disappointed
Review: While I wasn't entirely unhappy with Summer Sisters, I was disappointed... All characters were not developed well at all. Moreover, the short vignettes of each character's thoughts were distracting to me and made me feel even more distanced from the characters. I guess I was expecting more from Blume's adult novels than I got with the adolescent ones (the last Blume novel I read was "Are You There God?" which was my absolute favorite book growing up. I read it 5 times). Summer Sisters felt to me like an adolescent novel with more explicit sexual scenes. It's a naughty teenager's dream, like Clan of the Cave Bear without having to skim to find all the racy parts.

Summary: A Quick "Just O.K." Read
Review: I have enjoyed Judy Blume's books since I was a kid. While I liked the style of the story-telling in Summer Sisters, I was left wanting more. More depth, more detail, more character development. I felt like a kid again reading this book, for the wrong reasons!

Summary: I loved it and hated it.
Review: Summer Sisters is a great, light summer read. After reading some other readers' reviews, I understand both those who loved it and hated it. I relived certain times in my life when I was just like the two main characters. And am SO glad to not have to do it again! However it is frustrating the way this book, along with "Bridget Jones'Diary" are both bestsellers AND portray women as valuing their worth by the men that love them - not for who they really are. I believe that women today are being given a warped and mixed-up view of our place in today's society.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: This novel is as steamy as the season it celebrates
Review: I have always loved Judy Blume's ability to chronicle friendships and attitudes about women and this novel follows in the same proud tradition. This novel is steamy, but this is no typical romance novel. It is about realistic characters experiencing realistic situations and friendships. The plot is fun, touching, and definitely sexy! I feel like I have just rediscovered my favorite author. This novel will make you call your best friend.
