Rating: Summary: I absolutely loved the book! Review: I found the book to be great entertainment! It was a pleasure to read and the author is to be commended! I felt sad as I turned the last page...I did not want the story to end!
Rating: Summary: ENJOYABLE FAST READ BUT SIMPLISTIC Review: I ENJOYED THIS BOOK, HOWEVER, FOUND IT TO BE MORE APPROPRIATE FOR YOUNG ADULTS OR OLDER TEENS.. NOT REALLY FOR ADULTS.
Rating: Summary: Fabulous!! Review: I was delighted to see a Judy Blume book on the shelves again, I grew up with Are you There God...? and Forever and loved Wifey and Smart Women. I loved this book, I read it in one sitting--just couldn't put it down. The characters, especially Caitlin, are so real (I have a "Caitlin" of my own and could relate with Vix!) and I couldn't rest until I knew how it would end. I found the end fulfilling and was not disappointed, maybe a little surprised.
Rating: Summary: A great read about real women Review: I grew up devouring Judy Blume's books - what a treat to see that she has stepped into the adult arena in her writing... Summer Sisters grabbed onto me and held me until I got to the last page. She writes truthfully and honestly about being a woman. I loved Judy Blume's books as an adolescent and look forward to more of her books as an adult!!
Rating: Summary: a book inappropriate for young readers, too graphic Review: Summer Sisters had a descent story line; however, I do not feel that all that actually occurs in ones life needs to be written as it was in this book. I would not reccommend it to a young adult reader, maybe an 18-23 year old reader. It was a dissappointment. I simply wish it had been less graphic at certain parts.
Rating: Summary: Summer Sisters is a divine summer read! Review: As I followed Vix and Caitlin's lives I felt as if I was reliving my young teen years, college years and ultimately adult years. The characters speak as though they are 12 when they are 12 and conversely when they are 30. I have already recommended this book to about 5 people. (They need to buy their own as it will be a double read for me.)
Rating: Summary: NBO Review: Starring Sally J. Freedman as herself was my all time favorite. I read it several times as a child. Summer Sisters is the second best. I am an adult now, and this book couldn't have been any better. Judy, you are superb. Please give us more. PLEASE.
Rating: Summary: Couldn't Put This Book Down ! Review: With the busy schedule of life I decided to do something for me, start reading again. Summer Sisters seemed to jump out at me and boy was I happy it did. I found myself going back in time to the same insecurities and dilemmas as Vix and Caitlin. I appreciated Judy Blumes descriptive writing, she dipicted things the way they are. All of the characters were so interesting and you wanted to know more about everyone. It was so easy to visualize Lambs' house, what Bru looked like, the restaurant where Vix worked, etc. I found myself saying "I'll just read one more chapter then I'll start dinner". Needless to say that until I finished this book that there were a lot of take out dinner nights ! I reccommend this book to any woman who has had a childhood friend like I have through adulthood. My girlfriend of 27 years was definitely Vix and I was so much like Caitlin. I loved this book so much that I gave it to my mother to read.
Rating: Summary: If you grew up in the 70's, this is the book for you! Review: Do you remember what it was like to be a teenage girl in the 70's? The Charlie's Angels, pink lipgloss, Shaun Cassidy and the Brady Bunch were such a big part of our lives. This book embelishes the love and friendship between two girls that lasts through their preadolesence into adulthood. It takes you back in time and reminds you how your first kiss felt and how you couldn't wait to share all your new experiences with your best friend. Judy Blume invites you to experience the 70's and 80's all over again through the words and feelings of two strong female characters. I couldn't put it down!
Rating: Summary: beautifully written, amazing book Review: i am a teenage reader of this book and i thought it was incredible. i don't think its an adult book, but not a kids book either. somehwre along the age of 14-17 i think. i loved it, the pictures she paints with her words are very vivd and the characters just came alive.
