Rating: Summary: Amazing!!! Review: Judy Blume has always been my favorite author, ever since i was a child. Summer Sisters was an incredible book. It touched on everything and every emotion that people have to deal with in life, and I really think that it made me a stronger person from reading it. I highly recommend it to everyone.
Rating: Summary: May I suggest my thoughts for the sequel? Review: I've read the reviews by everyone else and so far I think I am the only one who felt emotionally misled. Throughout the entire book we are drawn to the character of Victoria because we can sympathize with her tough life circumstances. However, at the end we know for sure how in love with Bru she is. It was not wrong of her to put off thoughts of marriage to him and for the year after we see that she can never forget him and is about ready to make a life with him. I was so hurt for her! I'm glad she got Gus, but I didn't feel as though it was the same kind of love. So here is what I suggest Ms. Blume: In the sequel Gus has died from a rare form of cancer. Vix moves back to the island. Bru and Star have long sinced parted because he only settled for her thinking Victoria was out of reach. He is so successful as a contractor and has matured a great deal raising his kids alone. He is hired to renovate Victoria's home and the sparks fly again. This time, they can both discuss their feelings, especially since Bru lost his Mom to the same disease that claimed Gus. Caitlin comes back just as Vix and Bru are about to realize a life together but this time Bru does NOT sleep with her. As a matter of fact we learn that years ago, Bru was preparing to join Victoria in NYC when Caitlin talked him out of it. Please??? A happy ending?
Rating: Summary: Judy Blume at her best... Review: Having grown up reading all of her wonderful books, I had high expectations of her writing to the same audience as adults...I was not disappointed. This book was true to Judy Blume's style...honest and refreshing. I loved every minute of it!
Rating: Summary: Incredible!!! Amazing!!! Review: Summer Sisters was a can't stop reading, amazing book. I could not put this book down, which led to a very late night! I plan on reading it again and again! As a teenager I read all of Judy Blume's books and loved them. I always felt a part of the book and when I picked this book out I really felt that now "grown up" I would not feel so into this book because I am an adult! WRONG. There are some real life issues that are not sugar coated or even made into unbelievable issues. But the story of these 2 girls that by some weird chance become best friends and remained even after many horrible and exciting changes was wonderful. I felt I was a part and truly loved it. I recommend this book to all and hope reading this book is as enjoyable.
Rating: Summary: Couldn't Put in Down Review: I just couldn't put this book down. I loved her books as a child and I love this one even more now. I read it all in almost one sitting.
Rating: Summary: Trite, disappointing. Review: When I was an adolescent, I was completely engrossed by Judy Blume's books. They were engaging and not patronizing like some other novels written for those who were my age. However, Summer Sisters presents skeletal portraits of cliched characters. A garden with potential that has been overwatered. No fun. And Ms. Blume IS an excellent writer...so why such a shallow book this time?
Rating: Summary: The Best Book I Have Ever Read! Review: Summer Sisters is the best book I've ever read! I couldn't put it down! I stayed up late at night trying to satisfy my craving for that book. Any girl that has ever been in love can identify with Vix. She reminds me so much of myself. Summer Sisters helped me deal with some of my own problems that I was having. I was able to think things through because I could go and read how things turned out for Vix and hope that the same would happen to me.
Rating: Summary: I love Judy's books, and this was one of my favorite. Review: This book really moved me. It was about friends helping each other and making it through good times, better times, bad times, and the worst of times. Being from the country, I could relate to a lot that happened in Summer Sisters. I hope there is a sequal! I was glued to it, and didn't put it down. Anyone who doesn't find Judy Blume's work mesmerizing is out of thier mind. It took me all of two days to read the entire thing... bravo, Judy, bravo.
Rating: Summary: If I Hadn't Bought the Audio, I Would Have Never Finished It Review: The title of the book was the best part of the whole book. The sad thing is, the book had real portential. It's too bad that the writer went from interesting to smut real quick. I wouldn't recommend this book to any of my friends.
Rating: Summary: Nasty Way To Get To A Good Story Review: I think that the book is very good. I don't think it was unnecessary to have such a nasty beginning because most people do not do those things. I think that if Caitlyn had had more direction in her life, and more guidance, she wouldn't have turned out the way she had. That is why she didn't go to college and marry well.
