Summary: Invgorating read
Review: Summer sisters reminded myself of those summer nights spent with friends, and family. Judy Blume has flourished as an adult writer, capturing the reader with in the first few paragraphs...She definatley struck a cord with me, and allowed myself to feel what Vix was feeling.

Summary: Well...the "summer" part is right
Review: "Summer Sisters" is pretty much what you would expect it to be--two girls who are complete opposites, bonding every summer at Caitlin's father's beach house. Then, the inevitable growing up (and apart), the "We both love the same man" (since this was how the book opened, I'm not really ruining anything), etc. I don't need to reiterate that the characters are paper-thin and the plot non-existant, but I will add that by the end, I absolutely hated Caitlin and had no sympathy for her whatsoever (but I got the impression we were supposed to celebrate her spirit and mourn her tragic, wasted potential). Why the three stars, then? Well, it's not supposed to be War and Peace, so you can't fault Blume for the fact that it isn't, and despite these complaints, I was involved enough to read it pretty much in one sitting. Just don't expect anything brilliant and life-changing...more like an afternoon of entertainment.

Summary: Inspired feelings I haven't felt since I was 12 or 13
Review: This book gave me such a good feeling. It made remember how I felt at 12,13 and 14. The new feelings of being boy crazy, of coming to terms with difficulties in life, and the joy of having a best friend. characters are multi-dimensional.

Summary: Good Beach Chair Read
Review: I, like many of the reviewers, have read all of Judy Blume's previous works mostly as a child and was similarly entertained by this adult novel. As always, her sexual content takes over for plot in some parts of the book. Some of the sexual scenes would have been better left out as I don't think they added any value to the relationships developed. The ending was a bit of a disappointment ...the transition was not very smooth. However, overall the book was a quick, easy, entertaining read and I read it all in my beach chair one afternoon. All said and done and I'd recommend it for mindless entertainment.

Summary: Judy's audience grew up but her stories didn't
Review: This book was advertised as being for adults - I think not. It's about a friendship between two girls coming of age. A book for teens, perhaps, but not grown women. The rags-to-riches luck of Vix & her happy-ever-after was too unrealistic. A fast beach read - if you're in the mood for something light, otherwise buy the book for your teen daughter.

Summary: Summer Sisters is an excellent read!!!
Review: I literally could not put this book down. The friendship shared between Vix and Caitlin brought me back to my own childhood. Judy Blume truly captures the ambience of adolescence. This is one I could read over and over again. Thank You, Judy Blume!!!

Summary: beach book
Review: It's all in the expectations. If you're looking for a cute (but predictable) plot, quick (and unchallenging) read, this is enjoyable. If you're looking for a real book, forget it. This is a dressed-up version of a romance novel.

Summary: I could not put this book down!
Review: I loved Judy Blume as a child and I loved this book as much! I needed a book to take on a camping trip and I could not put this one down! It was wonderful and brought back lots of memories for me spending summers on the Cape. I highly recommend this book.

Summary: Awesome...
Review: This is the first novel that has been able to keep my interest for more that 5 min., in what seems like forever. I am a young reader... who usually reads magizines. But as soon as I picked up this book, I could not put it down... and stayed up till 4am to finish it! I think Judy Blume has flourished as an adult writer. And I've also enjoyed this novel more than anything else I've ever read from her work so far. Thumbs up! :) How can I not love this book?

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Simply Excellent.
Review: Summer Sisters is a provocative, endearing, and simply excellent story of 2 girls through their youth and adulthood. This is one of those books that you can't put down. Judy Blume always manages to touch the reader...this is definitely no ordinary book.
