Rating: Summary: Great read!! Review: I just finished this book and thought it was a great read. The storyline was interesting and very easy to follow. I'm sure everyone has had a "Caitlin" in their life at one time or another. I could hardly put it down. It is recommended to anyone who wants to relax and enjoy a book for a couple of days this summer.
Rating: Summary: A quick, mindless read that is not particularly entertaining Review: I am glad I borrowed this book and did not buy it. It is a mindless meander through a quagmire of repetative drivel. Take out the ultimate solution arrive at by Caitlin, and this book could easily have been a Harlequin Romance. Really- one minute they are living in semi-poverty amid filth during their summer visits, and the next they are wealthy people in sophisticated surroundings. The characters are poorly developed, the plot does not exist and the editors must have no long term memory.
Rating: Summary: You can escape inside this book with Blume's storytelling Review: It is easy to feel transported to the Vineyard while reading this book. The story telling is engrossing, but not all that deep. But, then again, on a lazy summer afternoon, who wants deep? I was slightly disturbed by their preadolescent trysts, but they go by quickly and you move on. I'd recommend it for the beach bag.
Rating: Summary: What a great book! Review: Like others, i simply couldnt put this book down. I couldnt wait for the paperback so i bought the hardcover and it was definately worth it. The characters were extremely real and easy to relate to...especially for a teenager like myself...i have never read a book in a day but summer sisters was an exception. Overall it was a great book and i recommend it to anyone of any age!
Rating: Summary: It's so good, I thought I was living it myslef Review: Summer Sisters was a wonderful book. It kept my interest and i did not want to put the book down. I loved this book. i like how Blume goes through the book in stages of time. It makes it easier to understand where you are and how old everyone is. i liked the ending but it leaves you questioning, wondering what happened. Throughout this book, i felt like i was actually in the book, living it myself. This is my most favorite book i have ever read and i don't like to read. It kept me so interested, i would read for hours at a time.
Rating: Summary: This is really a Kids book Review: This book was marketed as Judy Blume for adults but ir really isn't. I read all of Judy Blume's books when I was kid and enjoyed them, so when this came out in paperback I thought I'd try it.Sadly, this book reminded me of Are You There God it's me Margret, with more sex. If Judy Blume really wants to write an adult book she has to do more than just throw in some sex to make it adult. She needs to challange her readers, this book challanges teens not adults!
Rating: Summary: Excellent read! Review: My friend recommended this book to me and I'm glad she did because once I started reading I couldn't put it down. I cried when the characters cried and laughed when they laughed. I can't wait to read another book by Judy Blume. This was fabulous!
Rating: Summary: My favorite book Review: At first I wasn't sure I would enjoy this book, but after reading the first few pages I was hooked. Watching everyone in Vix's life grow up and seeing who these characters become had me fully engrossed in this truly fantastic novel.
Rating: Summary: A good read Review: Well...it's been a long time since I picked up a novel by Judy Blume...I did grow up on some of her books for children..and whattaya know.. really had a good time reading this book. It's an easy read..the time just flows by and you know you have to read it until the end. The ending was a bit predictable, though.
Rating: Summary: One to read Review: I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I've read all of Judy Blume's books for adults and this book is by far the best of them all. I found Vix's character to be the most developed. Every thought and feeling she had was turned inside-out and really shed light into her character. Caitlin was described very well in the physical sense but her inner-self was really lacking. This book left with me with questions as to some of the character's motives. What was Sharky really about? Did Caitlin make up those stories about sleeping around or was it all a facade? Still a great read though.
