Rating: Summary: Summer romance, summer friends but lifetime memories Review: I love it!! I am now 22yrs. old and have always loved Blume's work. But this struck home. How many of us have experienced a summer flig with your summer girlfriend. Blume gave us a look at two different girls who spend the summer together and athough they are complete opposite with different values on everything, the two of them need and want each other more than they know it. I had a summer friend who I spent every waken moment with her and then teh boys. :) I recommend this book to any women who once had or wanted to have a summer sister. As a reading teacher, I don't recommend this book for any teenager or young reader, this an adult book.
Rating: Summary: Not as good as others I have read by this author Review: I was dissappointed in this novel. Sure the story development was fine and I like the way Ms. Blume showed each characters' thoughts, but it seemed to me that it wasn't much of a story. Who hasn't had a friend from the time they were young and gone through even more than the two main characters did? I had a best friend from third grade that slept with my boyfriend and she didn't run away for years and then come up missing. The only reason I finished this book is that it was the only thing I had to read on the plane.
Rating: Summary: I do not think it was a good book Review: I would not read this book again. If you want to have your girls get into living with her friends and not worry about them, this book is for them. I would never let any of my girls read this book. I thought it was an awful story and I really felt bad someone took the time to write it.
Rating: Summary: Summer Sisters-Summer Reading Review: This book is a wonderful book about the friendship between two girls, Caitlin and Vix. The book had a lot of sex and other related actions in it but besides that i think that everyone should read it.
Rating: Summary: Great, One of My All-Time Favorite Books! Review: This book held my attention from page one. I think it took me just over two days to finish it. I felt like I could relate to both characters, and I really like the way the prose flowed. A great book, any teenage girl or woman would appreciate it.
Rating: Summary: A wonderful read !!!!! Review: I'm not much for "girlie books" but this is a book that suprised me. The certain twist to the book will keep you locked. It will take you only two days if not hours to read this book. Its a book you should treat yourself too. Judy Blume writes beautifully.
Rating: Summary: Judy Blume Isn't Just For Little Kids Anymore Review: This book was the greatest book I've ever read and I've been reading Judy Blume since I was eight. This book follows two girls through their whole life and explains the meaning of true friendship. I laughed and cried at this book...I recomend it to every girl in the world.
Rating: Summary: Why does everyone like this book???? Review: I was looking for a quick, easy, entertaining read for the beach-- I couldn't wait for this book to end! It feels like I picked up one of those books I used to read when I was 10-- like the Baby-Sitter's Club. No characters were interesting or likable, the plot was boring; why is this marketed as an adult book? Especially as the characters get older, the book gets unbearably boring-- I definitely skimmed over Vix's conversations with her roommates at Harvard. The ending was just ridiculous.
Rating: Summary: It served it's purpose but... Review: Although I finished the book in two days, it didn't do it for me in terms of content. I really wanted to know what happened next but it wasn't challenging at all. The book in itself was teenager like. If Judy Blume was trying to target adults, she didn't do it with this book!!! I would really recommend this book to teenagers more than adults, although she talks about sex a bit too much.
Rating: Summary: WARNING - Reading this book may induce vomiting Review: Summer Sisters is a poorly written novel, a waste of time, and an insult to one's intelligence. After getting through half the book, I felt I had to finish it, but the last 50 pages made me regret my decision. The ending is erratic, rushed, and illogical - what a mess! That's the last Judy Blume book I ever read.
