I have never read a book so fulfilling where the characters are so vivid and haunt you at night.... I was given this book by my friend during the summer and i read it on the beach.. I laughed. I cried. I enjoyed this book so much i bought the audio and a hardcopy and tried to go to judy blumes book signings to ask her more about the characters.... I cant say enough about this book... I read this book so much its hardcover is about to come off!!! This book is enchanting, funny and it runs with the emotions that all girls go through... I wish Judy Blume would create a sequel or there was a book that was even CLOSE to coming to this standard .... Theres not no book ive ever read comes close... not even close enough to sit on the same shelf.... I loved this book and just wanted to share that with everyone!!!!
Rating: Summary: My favorite book and I'll tell you why... Review: I read this book for the first time when I was fourteen. I was only a little bit older than the main characters, Vix and Caitlin, at the time, and I related well to the younger parts and really enjoyed as they grew up. Since then I ahve reread it so many time that I have lost count. I'm nineteen now and I have been able to relate many of my teenage experiences with those of Vix and Caitlin. My life is nothing like theirs. I did not grow up in the same era. But I believe that this book has the capacity to be relatable to ANYONE. Guy, girl, young, old. THis book is excellent, and I would like to meet someone who doesn't like this book!
Rating: Summary: GREAT SUMMER READ! HEARTWARMING! Review: I read this book a few years ago, and LOVED it! Unfortunately, I haven't come across many books in a long time that can hold my attention from beginning to end, but this one I COULDN'T PUT DOWN! I carried the book everywhere with me, and found myself turning in for the night early just to read for an hour or so. It's very heartwarming and real - something you can relate to. You really begin to feel for the two girls - as if you know them personally. As if, in a sense, they are a part of what you once were yourself, and in a sense, part of who you still may be somewhere deep within. Two total opposites with so much in common. I loved the whole concept of this book. It really got to the heart of friendships, relationships, and those awkward adolescent years (and into adulthood) and it touched upon betrayal of even those who only mean the best for the other, but sometimes life has other plans. You'll see what I mean - get yourself a copy! This is a great summer read!
Rating: Summary: Heartwarming Review: I'm a teen and I can relate to the lives of the characters from this novel. I read the whole thing in one day and by the end I was in tears. It made me think of my own relationships and how they change but remain strong over the years. I recommend this novel strongly to anyone who loves to read. I loved it so much and right after I read it I ran out to get Forever by Judy Blume which is also another amazing novel.
Rating: Summary: Amazing! Review: Judy Blume is brilliant, and this book really shows it! Its very entertaining, and touching. I couldn't put it down once I started. I felt like i was there, in the book, going through everything that was described. The characters are addicting, and the plot is anything but predictable. I highly recommend to anyone who enjoys a good read!
Rating: Summary: Girlfriend Review: Great story that every girl/woman will relate to and understand. Judy Blume does a fantastic job of taking us with Vix and Caitlin as the grow up from puberty to high school through college and onto marriage and motherhood. There are twists and suprises throughout the book with romances intertwined. She also does a great job showing not only the relationship between girlfriends, but between mothers and daughters.
Rating: Summary: daydreaming of the vineyard Review: very few books have had an impact on me like Summer Sisters. I read this book the summer of 7th grade in a sweltering garage apartment. I instantly fell in love with the style of her writing from different view points and of course Vix & Caitlin. When i was done reading, i bawled my eyes out. The way she wove the story you felt like you were there, or you wanted to be there, and the ending left me feeling like I had gone through everything Vix had. Through her marvelous writing Blume weaves a tapestry of rich unforgettable characters which left me pining for a friend Vix & hoping that i could become a little more spontaneous like Caitlin. The fact that Blume wrote the whole story in everyone but Caitlin's view point really makes you wonder about the mystery girl. This book will bring out the best in you, because you can really relate to one or the other main characters, and at the same time wish you were a little more like the other you that you don't completley identify with. I got many people hooked on Summer Sisters, like i hope this review will get you hooked. I have read it every year for 4 years & it will continue to be a tradition. By reading this book you will realize the power of friendship, and what a friendship really should be.
Rating: Summary: Extremely great book Review: I loved this book SUMMER SISTERS. It really reflected how important friendship is, no matter where you are. This book can be inappropiate at times, but in general, it was very suspenseful and i wanted to keep on reading to find out what happens next. Judy Blume could not have used better characters in this book. I suggest that you read this book because it teaches you life long lessons that you will take with you.
Rating: Summary: Absolutely Enchanting! Review: This book is definitely on my all-time favorites list. It chronicles the evolution of a friendship between two girls. At times shocking and apalling, this book will surely be a favorite of women for lifetimes to come. If you haven't read it, I suggest you do so now.
Rating: Summary: This was an excellent book! Review: I had to read this book for an English assignment that I did on the bonds and friendships of women. I would have to say that it was the best of the three that I read. I just couldn't put it down. This book explores the phase in a young teenagers life that is usually only written in a diary. The fact that Judy Blume explains the hard but true truths of the novel that are admittedly some of the hardest to deal with. When Caitlin gets married, I just couldn't believe that she chose him of all the men in the world. But the part about how he cheated on her the night of the wedding hit a hard spot in my own life. Well, I just wanted you guys to know that this book was a very good read and I would recommend it to all teenage girls. Not one girl in the world experiences nothing that touches base in the novel.
