Summary: Eh, so so
Review: Okay, this book is not as bad as everyone says. It does have it's fair share of sex in it, but it's not so full of it that it gets annoying. The plot is a little weak, most books at least have a purpose! It starts out a bit dull, but it slowly gets more interesting. It's also a bit strange at parts (like the part about Lamb and The Countess taking baths together, what's up with that? and the whole deal with "The Power"? I'll tell ya, that's not somethig I did with my best Friend when I was 12!) I won't tell you who Vix ends up with, but I will tell you that it will probably surprose you. Also, I didn't like the ending. It seemed rushed, like Judy just wanted to get it over with. It's a quick and very easy read (probably an 11 year old can read it and understand it , but I definetly wouldn't let your 11 year old read it!) Try just reading it on the beach or something. It's a good way to kill time.

Summary: Very exciting. I felt like I was with them through it all.
Review: This was the first adult book by Judy Blume I had ever read. It was the best book I have read in a long time. I didn't know Judy wrote books for adults until this one, I have read almost all of her other ones when I was younger. My favorite then was, Are you there god it's me Margret?. The people in this book were so real, everything that happened to these girls could happen to anyone. The book never had a dull minute, and I'm looking forward to reading many more of her books.

Summary: Judy Blume shows us that our choices do shape our lives.
Review: Summer Sisters is a heartfelt story of how our relationships with ourselves, friends and family members mold us and how our choices whether right or wrong, popular or not- shape our lives. With one question and one answer, two young girls lives intertwine and the lives of their loved ones or even not so loved ones have a lasting and meaningful impact. As the characters grow up they question their choices, judgements, each other and themselves. You can relate to Caitlin and Vix as if you knew them, the way each is insecure or jealous and shows friendship and love in the only way she knows how. The dysfunctional family units is all too familiar in our society and is another area the reader can easily relate. If you've read any of Judy Blume's books as a young child and thought, wow ! she really understands, well this book is the adult version and has those lingering questions that as teenagers we'd thought would be answered in our 20's or 30's, what is life about and when do we really become "adults" ? My fingers wouldn't stop turning the pages and I was not disappointed. Thanks Judy !

Summary: Delightfully Wonderful!!
Review: Judy Blume has never captured a more realistic plot than this book. I read the whole book in one day, it was too hard for me to put it down, I became too story hungry to find out what would happen next. I instantanously became a character in the book when I started reading. I wish my 'Summer Sister' days of not having a care in the world were not over. A diffferent twist in the end made the book more enjoyable, although I did wish it ended differently. I recommended this book to all my friends and now I recommend it to you. Enjoy it one rainy afternoon, believe me, you won't put it down!

Summary: Fascinating Page Turner!
Review: I devoured this book in 3 days. I found myself transported to the vineyard while I was riding the bus, at lunch, waiting for the elevator... I didn't want the journey to end, but when it did I remembered why I loved Fudge in grade school or Margaret as I got older. Her characters are unforgetable! Blume is an enchanting author and I can't wait for the next book.

Summary: Absolutely riveting, I couldn't put it down!
Review: This is such an incredible story of love, hope, and friendship against all odds. The two characters are such opposites that it creates a wonderful tapestry. I recommend this book for anyone who loves to read, and maybe even those who don't. I believe they will change their minds. I have read Judy Blume since I was a child and I was extremely impressed by this book.

Summary: What a great read!
Review: I am not a big reader, but I bought this book for my daughter for her birthday. She loved Judy Blume books when she was growing up, and these she's written for adults are just as well written. My daughter could not say enough times how good Summer Sisters was, so I read it myself. I could not put it down. I have now passed it on to my friends for them to enjoy and enjoy they have. Everyone who has read it, loves it. Thank you Ms. Blume for another wonderful book. We are fixing to read Wifey.

Summary: Excellent take on teenage girls adolescent behavior
Review: This is the first Judy Blume novel I've read, I'm typically not a fiction reader but found myself picking up "Summer Sisters" in the airport one day and found I couldn't get through it fast enough.

I felt Judy Blume gave a wonderful description of summertimes spent at Martha's Vineyard. More compelling though was her translation of the relationship that evolved between two young pre-pubescent girls whom at one moment in their lives seem as though they can survive only through the others existence. Yet as in life and as for Caitlin and Victoria they manage to end up on opposite ends of the earth. The journey she takes her readers on through the relationship of Caitlin and Victoria is intimate, compelling, lonley and full of individual discovery. I will recommend it to my neices.
