Rating: Summary: A fantastic book, I could relate to some of the events Review: I really enjoyed the book. I was surprised to see a book from judy blume in adult form. It had been so long since I had read any of her books. Only when I was a child did I read her books. Now I'm looking to read Smart Women if I can find it in paperback reissued.
Rating: Summary: Not her best work, but a good read Review: "Summer Sisters" was pretty typical Judy Blume adult fare. Her "books for grownups" have never been quite as influential on me as the books I read as a kid -- "Blubber," "Iggie's House," etc.Still, an enjoyable read that pulled me in quickly...I read the entire thing at one sitting, because the book encourages that...by starting off in one time, then leaping back into the past, I felt like I was racing to catch up with the beginning of the book. Does that make sense? The characters will confuse you at times, as you wonder what their motivation is. We get to see inside the minds of most of them, except for Caitlin, the most complex of them all. Why she does what she does, and the reader's wonderings about what "might have been," makes the conclusion to the novel somewhat unsatisfactory. Quite a lot of sexuality in this book as well...if you're not comfortable with that, leave the book on the shelf! Bravo to Judy Blume for being brave enough to acknowledge the not-quite-sure-what-they-are feelings and wonderings that many of us felt for our "summer sisters." A good book...you will laugh and cry along with the characters, unless you have no soul whatsoever!!
Rating: Summary: Great summer story! Review: I chose this book because I had read Judy Blume's "Wifey" many years ago and remembered how entertaining that was. My husband and I were heading to Cancun and I needed something to read on the plane. It definitely made the 3 hour flight from Chicago to Miami bearable. I felt like I was living two adventures. Ms. Blume has a wonderful way of drawing you in and making you care about the characters.
Rating: Summary: Not fit for adults Review: I'm sorry to say I bought this book based on the fact that it was on the best seller list and was suggestedto me through Amazon.com. I believe it's time to update my profile because there must be a rating that suggests I may have enjoyed this book. I'd be curious to find out what the average age of the readers of this book are. It was very immature. Not well written at all. As a matter of fact I didn't even finish the novel. I had maybe 50 pages to go and didn't give a rip how it ended. I donated it to the local thrift shop as I would have been too embarrassed to pass it on.
Rating: Summary: Beautifies the love/hate realtionships of best girlfriends Review: Read this book on the beach during vacation. All I can say is if you've ever had that special bond with a girlfriend..especially child/teenage years..then you will definitely love this. It made me remember things about my best girlfriend from high school that I hadn't recalled in years. Read this for pure enjoyment.
Rating: Summary: it was the best book I have read ever! Review: I am only 14 and I started this book because It looked not so boring and I really needed something to do. After the 10th page I was hooked! Before I knew it the clock read 4:30am and I was finished, a total of 5 hours to finish it. It was one of those books that just made you think
Rating: Summary: Incrediable...I couldn't put this book down!!! Review: This is the first book I have read by Judy Blume in her adult series. It was AWESOME! I read the whole book in two days. She draws you in and never lets you go! You will laugh and cry and relate to all of the main characters. IT IS A MUST READ BY JUDY BLUME!!
Rating: Summary: My God what a story.... Review: Judy Blume has always been able to tap into that inner teenager we all still remember. Summer Sisters totally reminded me of myself and a relationship I had with a "2nd" family. This book touched me in so many ways I cried at the end because I knew my time with these characters were over. Unfortunately I was on the subway! Hey this is NYC no one is considered crazy here! Love the book it is worth it's weight in gold!
Rating: Summary: Great book lives up to the Judy Blume standard Review: Great summer read I loved it. I cannot wait to read her next book. I grew up reading her books as a child. The book really made me reflect upon the friendships that I have in my life now.
Rating: Summary: Page turning, I couldn't put it down!!! Review: I haven't read a book this wonderful for a long time. I enjoyed the way the book had a chronological sequence from when the girls were young until they were older. It gave me a sense of life and it made me excited for the future and it also made me think about how you change as you get older. I couldn't put it down, even when I developed a crink in my neck.
