Summary: This was the kind of book you will want to read again!
Review: I enjoyed this book from the very beginning. For anyone who has ever had a "Summer Sister", this is the book to read. The characters were wonderful and you could identify with either Caitlan or Vix. I identified with Vix. If you read only one book this summer, this is the one to read.

Summary: Not that Great
Review: I had never read a Judy Blume book before, so I gave it a try since I hear obout all these people who absolutely adore her work. I was disappointed when I read it though. It was boring and I did not relate to the characters well but I am willing to try her next one, it may be better.

Summary: Judy Blume should write more adult books
Review: I would highly recommend this book. Like many of us I read all of Judy Blume's books growing up & I'm still not dissapointed. This book reminds you of all the friends & situations you experience as you grow older. It reflects how the different influences in your life affect your decisions you make.

Summary: Extremely touching and very enjoyable to read.
Review: The breadth of the story was amazing. It was captivating to follow the development of the relationships among numerous people who greatly influenced each other. The style of writing from the viewpoints of different characters was refreshing because I've often wondered when reading a story what each of the characters was actually thinking. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and thought it reflected the multiple facets of human nature.

Summary: Beach Blanket Book-o
Review: The cover, two wooden beach chairs in the sand, tells it like it is: a book about two girl friends who spent summers together. It's a corny tale about friendship between girls vs. love between a boy and a girl. If you expect (as I did) more of the biting wit found in the author's 1978 novel Wifey, you'll soon learn that Summer Sisters is not nearly as clever or as good. But it is a book you might take to the beach, to read in your chair in the sand.

Summary: excellent!!!
Review: Judy Blume has always been one of my favorite authors--I always felt like she puts on paper how women ( and girls ) actually think and feel. This book was awsome, and even has a twist ending that I found pretty surprising.

Summary: Still for the YA, but I did enjoy it........
Review: Judy Blume captivated me as a teenager and if I was a teenager now, I would've enjoyed this book as well. I wish the book had started when they were seventeen and gone from there.......

Summary: Disappointing for Judy Blume
Review: I was so excited to see Judy Blume had written another novel. Like most women of my age, I had read all her books as a pre-teenager and loved them for the frankness, honesty and reality. But Summer Sisters misses the mark, much like Blume's other adult novels (with the exception of Forever). The story just didn't ring true; she didn't really make us care about these characters, and I hated the way she switches voice between chapters of the novel. Even as a adult, I think I can identify more with Blume's juvenile novels than the adult ones. And I learn more from those books than from Summer Sisters. An overall disappointing offering.

Summary: Perfect Summer Reading for Dancing Queens
Review: I just saw Judy last night at a author reading in Portland, OR. She read from Summer Sisters and talked about the devleopment of the novel. The audience was filled with a variety of ages, but by far was dominated by young women in their 20's and 30's, like me, clutching the book and listening with rapt attention to the author who brought us up through adolescence. I can't give this book a 10 on literary merit, but I can give it an 8 as it was a completely enjoyable and relaxing reading experience. This book seems like a gift from Judy to my generation.

Summary: The perfect summer book!
Review: Reading this book had me longing for the summer days of my youth and all the caring, sharing and learning about life I did with my girlfriends. Judy Blume has the amazing talent of being able to describe, with great insight, the spectrum of human emotions and the way certain relationships can affect us throughout our lives. I loved it!
