Summary: The best book I've ever read.
Review: This book is about a girl named Susan Chilmark, who is determined to do something to help the Confederacy, during the Civil War. But after she meets her older brother, Lucien, and finds out why he ran away from home, she is not so sure. Many events follow, and Susan find her self doing things she never would have dreamed before this terrable war started. This is by far the best book I have read.

Summary: Not the most powerful or meaningful Rinalid book
Review: I'd be going too far to say this is the best book ever, or this is my favorite book ever. But putting that aside, this book is still worth your time and money. Aimed at pre adolescent females, this book has the average old cheap chessy romance girls reap for, and some excitment in a few blown chunks in numerous areas of this book. Not her most powerful or productive novel, but still good.

Summary: A wonderful book!!
Review: I think that this book is wonderful!! It's as moving tale of growing up. The thing I love most about it is that it is really universal. Even though Susan is living in the south during the civil war, I can relate to her.

Summary: You really feel a part of the story. It's great.
Review: Once I picked up this book I struggled to put it down. It is a wonderful story. I feel as if I am in the story and feel the same emotians as Sarah. I like the historical part to it. It adds alot of flavour. You know that there is partially a true side to the story. This book is suitable for all ages. If you haven't read it and you like historical novels this is definatly a great book for you! Enjoy reading it.

Summary: A captivating book full of surprises
Review: I have read 10 of Ann Rinaldi's books, 9 alone this year, and have never been dissapointed once. Although I am glad that I discovered her while in sixth grade because I might not have understood her if I was a grade or two lower. Anyway, this book has an excellent fictionous story line but at the same time has been a Wonderful educational novel about the Civil War. I thouroghly enjoyed this book and hope to read 10 more of Ann Rinaldi's in the years to come.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: The all time best book!
Review: This has got to be the best book I have ever read. I would highly recomend it to anyone. I couldn't put this book down once I started reading. "The Last Silk Dress" is a wonderful story about a 14 year old girl named Susan who is living in the capital of the confederacy during the Civil War. She is so head strong. Susan feels she is a true confederate, and thinks she knows what the war is about. During the course of the book she unfolds many secrets. She learns about the war, and about herself in the process. Ann Rinaldi wrote a winner, an I hope she writes a sequal.
