Review: This book was incredible. Susan was a strong spirited and willful girl, I could not put this book down. I gave it four stars because it took me awhile to get into the story, but after I kept reading it I fell in love with it. I even took this book to the beach with me and spent most of the time reading it.

Review: I have read hundreds of books but none have captured my heart like this one. Susan Chilmark's character is incredibly empathetic and her tumultuous tale is beautifully written. To fit a cliche, I laughed, I cried, it was enthralling to read again and again. I recomend this book to any one. It will make you want to read all of Anne's remarkable stories.

Review: I thought that this novel was a wonderfully written story with a great story. Though it's "happy ending", which is so common with books, lost it one star, it is still a great book and I enjoyed reading up!

Review: "The Last Silk Dress" is the best book I have read all year. I usually carry a book aroun school to read in between classes, and all my friends tease me about carrying this one so much. Before I bought it I got it out from the library and finally returned it 8 weeks later! If you like historicl fiction and romance you should read this book. This and "Time Enough for Drums" are Ann Rinaldi's best books.

Review: I have read all of Ann Rinaldi's books (except for about 3) and this is by far the best one. This book is about Susan Dobson Chilmark, a true southern belle, who is itching to do ANYTHING to support the south. She ends up meeting her brother who was disowned, and realized just how corrupt the south is. I have noticed that in all of Ann Rinaldi's books that there is a dysfunctional family, and at the very end there is the promise of romance, and this book is no exception. But that certainly does not mean that if you've read one, you've read them all. Each book has a life of it's own and seems so real you have to stop yourself from wanting to write the character a letter or something. I would reccomend any of Ann Rinaldi's books, but this one especially.

Review: The last silk dress was one of the best books I've ever read! If you like rinaldi's other books you will love this one! It was a great book about the views of a young southern belle. This girl is trying to search for the meaning of the war as well as her mothers love.

Summary: How can Susan do what's right and not hurt those she loves?
Review: this is an amzingly moving book. The story has beautifuly portrayed the struggles and tirals during times of war. Acomplishments, victories, regrets; it is all to real and is shown through out this book. A young girl under the rule of an abusive mother and loosing a father to a work accident. A brother she hadn't seen, an inner war between both sides of the war. Which was right? How could she do what she needed to with out betraying her land and hurting those who she loved? How could she love on both sides with out destroying one of the bonds? One with her family and the other with a yanky named Tim to whom she had fallen in love with. Take a journey through time and see through the eyes of not so long ago. You won't be able to put it down.

Review: This book was beautifully written. Just reading it gave me total chills. The characters were so well built that I could actually feel their emotions.

Review: I would recommend this book to everyone because it it so wonderful. I have this whole book at least ten times, and my favorite parts, over fifty times! Susan is an awesome character, and I don't think that characters get any better. I also think that Ms. Rinaldi wrote this book beautifully. Other books by her that I would recommend reading are: An Aquaintance With Darkness and But in the Fall I'm Leaving.
