Rating: Summary: My all time favorite book! Review: When I read this book about Susan Chilmark I felt as though I was standing beside her and helping her collect silk and meet her brother and even kiss Timothy. I was compelled to read more and was dragged into the story. The Last Silk Dress was the first book I had read by Ann Rinaldi. Since then I have read many others but none could compare to the first book I read. It got me interested in reading to the point where I devour every book I can get my hands on. I have recomended this book to all my friends and even my Grandmother and they have all loved it as much or nearly as much as I did.
Rating: Summary: I loved this book! Review: I love any historical fiction and when I read my first Ann Rinaldi, I've been reading her ever since! She's a wonderful author and I am trying to read all of her historical fiction titles. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes historical fiction!!
Rating: Summary: I love this book. its great!! Review: While reading this book all I thought about was the charicters involved and what they were going through. I have suggested this book to adults and they have come back raving about it. It gives a reader a wonderful idea of what was happening back in the Civil War and how people acted. This book is very educational but in a way that you don't really realize that your learning history until your done reading the book and stop to think about all that happened. I highly sugest this book to young adults and adults. Its a great book by a great author.
Rating: Summary: WONDERFUL!!!!! Review: This is my favorite book! It is so descriptive and grpping that I couldn't put it down! It has everything: romance, adventure, scandles, family happiness, and historical accuracy! It really is a great book and I recommend reading it.
Rating: Summary: A book full of excitement... but not enough Review: The book overall was pretty good however sometimes it's ... a little slow. the ending is really good but the first half doesn't add up to the same sum.It was worth reading it the first time, however I wouldn't read it again.
Rating: Summary: One of my ALL TIME favorites! Review: This book is absolutly superb! It combines the wonderfully interesting and pacifying period during the Civil War with the heartake and pain of a young girl. When she becomes involved in a project to make a hot air balloon for the South she has to constantly remind herself that doing what's right often hurts the person you love. Then after she meets up with her brother and uncovers family secrets, she has to find a way to look to the future by letting her past go! Even if it means treason. When a Northern artist enters the picture a wonderful romance unfolds! This is definitely an all-time great!!!!!
Rating: Summary: The best book!!! Review: I loved this book!!! i've read it about a million times, and i think it's the best of Ann Rinaldi's books. it's one of my all time fave books, and i loved the idea of having a silk dress balloon. i'd have loved to ride in that...well, i just think this is one of the best books i've ever read.
Rating: Summary: THE BEST BOOK! Review: I really love Ann Rinaldi and her books are so inpiring! This one is definatly the best and if you are just starting to read historical fiction or you've read a bunch of historical fiction READ THIS! I mean the book has an average of 5 STARS! That must say a lot. I was completely rivited to this.Way to go Ann Rinaldi!
Rating: Summary: One of Rinaldi's greatest! Review: I have read about every book Ann Rinaldi's written (excluding those published in 1999) and this is definitly my favorite. I love the way the story was constructed and the how it gives a sense of how the war impacted teens. I've read the book several times, it captivates me with every single read. It also helped me to realize how the state of Virginia has been such an important part of the US's history and makes me proud that I grew up in Northern Virginia. Read this book, you'll love it!
Rating: Summary: One of Rinaldi's Best Books ever! Review: This book is defiantly one of Rinaldi's best books yet. I'd say it's my favorite so far. It is mainly about a fourteen year old girl, Susan Chimark, that has a crazy mother. She meets up with her older brother, that her family never speaks of, and becomes closer to him. Susan after awhile reliezes what the south is really fighthing for. She then has to find out how to let go of her past, and she does find a way...
