Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Liz and Sam . . . together?
Review: This book was really first-rate. The only reason that I gave it four stars was that it features Ms. Wakefield and Mr. Burgess (a.k.a. Mr. Non-Committment, as Jess would say) together! I'm not saying that deep down Sam isn't a nice guy, or that he's not good for Liz in some ways. I think he's been able to help her live for the moment and seize the day, but in a long-term thing I'm not thrilled about this. I was always hoping she'd get back together with Tom! I know that a lot of you might also want her with Todd, right? Well, either way, notice the changes. In this book, Jess has no boyfriend. Oh, sure, she flirts with a guy from class, but she truly hasn't dated since . . . NICK! Yes, Nick! I really hope that Nick comes back, does anyone agree? And Isabella, where is she? How is she doing? Chloe is a good new character, and she grows a lot in this book alone, but I just think it'd be cool to have her AND Isabella there! The stories are still first-rate, but I still say Liz and Sam? Jessica boyfriendless? Nope, no thanks.

Summary: very emotional!
Review: This book was so emotional! Elizabeth and Sam have been so through much as a couple I feel like I was watching them on a tv show. Plus now its the end of sophomore year, so I wonder if Jess and Elizbeth will be juniors or what? I hope they'll be juniors. Great book, totally emotional and any girl who is in love or was ever will relat to this book.

Summary: Together .. but tense
Review: This particular book isn't one of her best in the series. I find my interest in the SVU series waning. The housemates are getting tired of each other and the Elizabeth/Sam thing is that they are together, but the relationship is tense with Sam wanting to bolt. I read the first 4 chapters with good intentions of finishing it, but found myself skimming the rest of the book. I am re-reading some of the older SVH books and find that they had more depth. I feel that the older ones dealt with more important issues (like when Lila was almost raped, Elizabeth's motorcycle accident, saying "no" to peer pressure, the death of Bruce Patman's girlfriend etc). I think that in order for me to be interested in SVU again, the author would have to lessen the cheese and give more of the substance that once was. My opinion.

Summary: Not Meeting Expectations
Review: Well, I've always been a big fan of SVU books and I love the characters. However, I thought the last few books (including this one) weren't the best ones by far. I still want Elizabeth to be with Tom and I just don't like Sam very much. I also wish that Jessica wouldn't do so much flirting (not that she isn't good at it!) but try to find a guy--I really liked Nick. I always thought they were good together. The dynamics of the book and characters have changed and I can't really get into it. I wish the old gang were back together. Tom and Elizabeth included.

Summary: Care to advertise, anyone?
Review: Wow, I love cheese. Life is so grotesque sometimes, its nice to kick back and relax with some light material. Some of the earlier books read like after school special episodes, so pedantic. Laurie John should absolutely bring Nick Fox back, I agree! Am I the only one who noticed the brand name dropping? Makes you wonder if she is getting her novels subsidized now! I was very annoyed, I think that is an unnecessary device that really detracts from the flow. Really, maybe some of us are teenagers, others older, but dropping brands does not, as far as I am concerned, make the plot/characterization more easy to relate to. The story either hits home or not. And I could care less if Jessica eats Cheetos, wears Sam & Libby clogs, paints her face with M. A. C.,... or uses Arm and Hammer underarm deoderant. Next L.J. will be deciding between Kotex or Playtex. Please. At least though, on a reallllly superficial note, the girls are not still wearing big chunky chenile sweaters over STIRRUP PANTS with FLATS, like they were in some of the earlier books. [See, I really like some light reading! :)] This book was really good. I am sick of the Sam and Liz thing, but in some ways the book is becoming more complicated and realistic. And I think most of us can relate to a story about turbulent love that drives everyone not directly involved insane. And bored.
