Rating: Summary: Not enough on sinking, but good story Review: Although it was a good book, I was kind of disappointed at the fact it hardly said anything about the sinking. Almost every character except Captain Smith and a few others with brief cameos were made up, including the main charcter. I enjoyed "Back to the Titanic!" more than this since it at LEAST focused almost completely on the sinking and not on one character (it also had REAL Titanic passengers included) If you enjoy fiction stories, fine, but to me, this book was a huge disappointment
Rating: Summary: The Unsinkable Titanic Sinks Review: As Barry reached the Queenstown quay, he said his final good-byes to his grandmother and grandpop. He was off to New York to see his parents. While on the ship he encountered many rough times. He met up with his worst enemies Jonnie and Frank Flynn, and was sent to the medical room for stiches. One night, Barry met Jonnie and Frank Flynn's sister Pegeen. While they sat outside talking in the artic weather, they heard a loud crunch and saw dozens of small ice cubes spill out onto the deck. What happened? Was it an iceberg?, they both thought. Now they both knew that the Titanic was unsinkable so absolutely no worries crossed their minds. A while later Barry noticed that the propellors had stopped and the boat was at a slight tilt. Soon, he was awoken by Watley their steward. He told them to dress in warm clothing and put on their life belts. He made sure they knew that this was only a practice drill but Barry seemed to notice the mysterious look in Watley's eyes. Barry now understood this was not a drill and that this was real! Would he make it to the life boats on time? Would he survive the cold water or not? These were only a few of the many questions running through the fifteen year-old Barry's mind.
Rating: Summary: It was sooooooo exciting! Review: Eve Bunting did such a great job on the book! I've read lots of Titanic books and this one was one of the best. While you're reading, you feel like you're with Barry and Pegeen and it's like they're your best friends. The book kept me on the edge of my seat. It was sooooooo exciting! I'm writing a Titanic book with my best friend and I hope it turns out as well as S.O.S. Titanic! Now all I need is the sequal!
Rating: Summary: This was a great book Review: Even though you know what happens in the end (the ship sinks, duhhhh), the book still keeps you into the Titanic, from beginning to end. This book had an excellent description of events, the setting aboard the RMS Titanic was described wonderfully, and the author did a great job of bringing in the "human element," meaning the stories of some of the passengers. I liked how Eve Bunting described the sinking. She acted as if she was actually aboard the Titanic. Mr. Tafel, this review goes out to you!
Rating: Summary: Exiting! I loved it so much, I bought it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Review: Exitement fills the pages of this wonderful book. I want anyone that hasn't read it to, read it NOW!
Rating: Summary: I didn't like it. Review: I don't recommend this book to anyone, because it is boring and has too many side distractions. We don't need to know about a room stewards life. "It's a caul. I was born in it. A child born in a caul will have the gift and the curse of seeing what you cannot."Also, the ship will finally sink half way trough the book. "My gosh! Look at the iceberg... way behind us. Hurry ! Quick, it's drifting away." This book is way too long.
Rating: Summary: This book has elements that make for suspenseful reading Review: I find that this book has elements that make for suspenseful reading, especially for any teen or youth who is into anything having to do with the Titanic. The first element is how a teenage boy from Ireland, Barry O' Neil is traveling in first class on the Titanic from Queenstown to New York to meet up with his parents who had moved back to New York from China and his poorer arch enemy Johnnie Flynn who hates him since his grandfather filed the complaint that led to him being banished from Ireland for being a "troublemaker" and also because Barry O'Neil is richer than he is and because he thought he had a crush on or took a fancy to his sister, Pegeen, who was also from his home town is also traveling in steerage on the Titanic along with his brother, Frankie and sister, Pegeen and there is also the question of whether or not they and the other steerage passengers would even SURVIVE when the Titanic hit the iceberg. The second suspenseful element is in how Barry O'Neil seemed to get into scraps or fights with his arch enemy (who also consequently threatens to throw him into the sea), despite the fact he is traveling with a guardian of sorts, Mr. Scollins, a jeweler who is sailing on the Titanic to a new job with a jewelry firm in New York, in addition to how Barry manages to survive those scraps, without his arch enemy making good on his threats to throw him into the sea. The third and fourth elements that, I found had created a mood of suspense are when Barry meets up with a fellow first class passenger who had become quite superstitious ever since he read a book called "Futility" about a similar ship that was also on its maiden voyage and the voyage ended up meeting with calamity and the passenger takes it as a prophetic atatement about the fate of the Titanic, which was sailing under similar circumstances and in the cabin steward, Watley, who since he was "born in a caul," is alternately blessed and cursed with a "sixth sense," and also foresees calamity and the suspense came in the reader's trying to determine whether or not the steward meant calamity for Barry or for the Titanic. To find out things such as whether or not Johnnie, Pegeen, and Frankie and the other steerage passengers survive, you need only read "SOS Titanic."

Rating: Summary: Said almost nothing on Titanic Review: I hated it. It said very little on the sinking, in fact, practically nothing! It focused on almost all made-up characters who easily proved to be dull and brainless and how they acted while the ship sank (amazingly, many of the 1st class women Barry met decided to be stupid after the collsion and forget to get on a lifeboat until it was too late). I wouldn't suggest this book if you wanted to get facts on Titanic; it's terrible
Rating: Summary: Great Book! Review: I just want to say this is my personal favorite book and is recommended to everyone... I've read it 7 times so far... and it gets better and better each time...
