Rating: Summary: A Wonderfully Written Book Review: I have always enjoyed books that take me into the minds of the characters, and 'Old Magic' does exactly that. The cover was the first thing that captivated me. The book is 317 pages long, I was suprised by the thickness taking the two copies out of the amazon box. The author is Australian so she uses native words throughout the book. A glossary is provided at the back of the book so you know what she's talking about if not familiar with the lingo. The story takes place in Ashpeak, Australia. A small town in the mountains, were Kate lives with Jillian, her grandmother. It's just a typical day for Kate until Jarrod Thornton walks into lab class. Moments later, a storm is brewing in the classroom, with Kate believing Jarrod is to blame. The book is told in the first person, as you flip back and forth between Kate and Jarrod. So you get to know how each thinks about situations and eachother. The story continues but I don't want to say much more. If you enjoy the Harry Potter series, romance novels, and adventure stories, this is a wonderfully written book that you will enjoy. There are some great lines that are one of a kind. And if you enjoy this book, check out the series by Meg Cabot (ghostwriter name: Jenny Carroll) called 'The Mediator'. There are five books in that series thus far, and amazon has them all.
Rating: Summary: I love it! Review: Although I'm not into the witch craft thing, I have to admit, I could not put this book down. The characters are very descriptive and vivid and you can fall in love with them so easy. The book does have some erros in it (misplaced periods and words, ect...) but overall, it's beuatifully written. Most books today aren't written in this style either, at least not that I have read lately. You are in their head, almost like a journal or something. But overall, if you enjoy the time-romance novels, you have to read this one!! The story begins when Kate first sees Jarrod, she senses something about him; something supernatural. Her theory is later proven but the hard part is getting Jarrod to believe it. Kate goes through a lot to make him believe in himself but it isn't until they travel back in time to the 1200's to change Jarrod's future that he beileves it himself. How does it end? Like I'm going to tell you! All I have left to say, is that this book is amazingly written and will keep you wrapt all 317 pages!
Rating: Summary: OMG Awsome Review: Oh wow. You need to read this book. I have read it so many times I know who says what. I lent it to four or five of my friends and now all of them want to buy it too. If you like any type of fantasy, magic, or if you are even a history buff you will love this book. Kate and Jarod are both well wrtitten characters that any teenager can agree with. Read this book!!

It's one of thoes books that keeps you on your toes, you have no idea what happens next kind of books. I read it all in one day! I read continusely for 5or 6 hours without stopping! It was THAT good. The next day I even woke up at 7:00am to read it again! This book takes you into the minds of Kate and Jarrod. Jarrod is the new guy. But after being picked on the first day of school, he causes a massive storm INSIDE the classroom. and Kate, being a witch, or a witch in training, senses something supernatural about him. She tells him she thinks his family is cursed, and that he has a "gift". after some horrible things happen, he starts to take kate's "crazy" theorys serously. They end up going back in time to stop an eveil sorcerer from cursing Jarood's family. But when they go back, they get ALOT more than they bargained for. This book is a GREAT addition to fantasy books everywhere! It also keeps everyone intereseted not only for the magig but for the *Love* "brueing" between the two main character. It will keep you entertained with EVERY page. you WON'T want to put it down, EVER! I just want to read it over, and over, till every word is enbedded in my memory, so I won't forget a single detail. It's really that good. I say to you all, if you are reading this review, please take it serously. And please read this book. YOU WON'T REGRET IT!!
Rating: Summary: This is a great book. Review: From the people who read my reviews they know I like reading withcraft fiction books. Old Magic is one that i grabbed around Christmas to just spend my money. It looked good by the cover and it definetly was. Jarrod moves to a new town and already has troubles with his new classes. Kate sees something different in him and when he makes the room shake after getting mad she knows he is 'special' just like her. she tries to tell him but he wont listen. But when his family is in physical trouble they go back in time to fix the past...the way past. The book is great throughout. I do have to admit that it is slow in the first four or five chapters but the rest make up for it. Marianne Curley's book is great and I want to read others of hers and hope they are just as good or better!
Rating: Summary: Pretty Good Review: I read this book at the suggestion of one of my students. It took me about two chapters to really get into it, but once I was there, I was hooked. It's an interesting premise for a novel. From what I've seen it appeals to adolescent girls and anything that gets kids to read is wonderful in my opinion. It also has an appeal for adult readers. So it would be the perfect book for an parent and child to read together and discuss.
Rating: Summary: Old Magic Review: Kate is a witch. When the new guy Jarrod walks into class that day she senses something about him. She senses magic within him. Especially after an incident that happens in her class that day. Kate tries to convince Jarrod that he is a witch too and that his family is cursed. But Jarrod refuses to believe. He justs wants to have a normal life away from Kate. But after an accident happens in Jarrod's family he decides to try and believe. And so begins their quest back in time to stop the horrible curse set upon Jarrod's family. A sweet and good book. Doesn't exactly give the accurate portrayal of magick and wicca as we can see from the use of the words sorcerer and warlock. But it was still good with a twist of romance.
Rating: Summary: AWESOMELY FANTASTIC BOOK Review: I bought this book because it was recommended, but I didn't really think i would like it that much. I was very wrong, this awesome book has become my absolute favorite. I didn't want it to end.. there should defidently be a sequel!! I love the main characters and the writting style that lets you see how the two main characters both think. This is basically how it goes: Kate is a witch with limited powers and raised by her grandmother, who is also a witch. A new kid Jarrod comes who she realizes has special powers he doesn't know about. Turns out that his family has been cursed since around the 12th century, in medieval times. He, however, doesn't believe he has powers and has a hard time believing in the curse, but it gets really bad. A lot of awesome stuff happens, but i don't want to give away the story so just read it!! You won't regret it at all it is amazing!!! (...)
Rating: Summary: ONE OF THE GREATEST YA BOOKS EVER Review: WOW this was a fantastic book.. i couldn't put it down i cant even explain how good it was It is excellently written, it puts you in the minds of both the main characters like two diaries romance suspense mystery magic.(...)
Rating: Summary: a story of soul mates Review: Old Magic is an excellent novel and extremely well written. It is the story of an out-cast and a clumsy boy just trying to fit in. Kate, branded a witch by her class mates (which in fact is true, but they don't realize it), is intrigued to the point of obsesston with the new boy at school; she believes he has an extrodinary power. While Jarrod, the new boy, is a clumsy and loveable-enough guy, he has secrets and a family history filled with dark turns. When he is hurt in a freak storm inside the lab/science room, Kate takes him to her 'grandmother,' After that it's just one turn after another. And together Kate and Jarrod must set off on a journey to save Jarrod's family. This was, in my opinion, Marianne Curly's best novel and I have read all of them. With one twist after another, the reader is pulled into the story and wants to solve the character's every problem for a happily-ever-after ending. It is definetly a page turner!
