Summary: 13 year old book fan...
Review: FUFF! When I started reading this book the cover was missing so I didn't even notice who the author was, so its not like I got to prejudge the book before I even read it. Anyways bottom line this is not something I would reccomend, i mean after I had finshed reading this book i couldn't figure out one thing that had happened. Man, this book is so scatterd they have things that should have happened in the end that are in the beginning, events that happened earlier in the book are changed around. To tell you the truth I don't even know why I bothered reading it, just the story line- A little girl who has big dreams of doing something big (or in this case going to a music school) Britney do you know how many books have been written so similar to this?? Come on be a little creative!! The only thing A Mothers Gift's got going for it is the name at the top other wise do you honestly think this would have gotten published?? There is one highlight to it though, if you want too check out Britney's writing skills(hehe) go ahead and buy it. Thats why I gave it 2 stars its more humorous than to be taken seriously.

Summary: ACTUALLY AN OK BOOK!!!!!
Review: Now, first of all I don't think people should care that much about who wrote it, I mean who really cares if she can sing or not, it's a book not a CD. If you hate her you migh think it's stupid because that's what she is. If you like her then you'll think it's great because she wrote it! I'm in the middle, sometimes she's really cool and sometimes she sucks! This book was able to keep me interested most of the time. And I do actually read books a lot! I read all kinds of books at different levels that focus on different subjects. I mean at fist I too was skeptical, I was thinking oh give it up Britney. You've tried singing, dancing, commercials, stripping, the works! But now, you have to ruin the book industry as well! Then I actually took the time to read the book and enjoyed it! Of course it's not exactly a masterpiece, but it'll do!

Summary: poignant and stunningly real
Review: This is one of the most emotionally charged books I have ever read. It's a bold work of literature, and it tackles uncharted territory lesser authors would avoid. Britney is a critically acclaimed underground talent, and now she's shown her amazing abilities as a polished author. Her command of the English language is incredible. I think this is a good book and everybody should read it. It's a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Summary: Writing is Overly Simple
Review: ...P>Here is the latest from Britney Spears, who apparently is an angel of a daughter and calls her mother every night. The girl next door whom we have all watched grow into a vixen has added a new title to her stardom: author. This new book, A Mother's Gift, was written by Britney and her mother, Lynn. Generally, when stars publish books they hire a ghost writer, so that was my initial impression. However, I assume someone with that much money could hire a better ghost writer, so if I were the judge I'd say the brown-haired (she's not naturally blond) babe did in fact write it with her mom.

Anyway, the story line. In a small town in Mississippi, everyone knows everyone else. And everyone knows Holly dreams of becoming a singer and has the voice to do it. Holly and her mom are poor but very close to each other and can talk about anything, except Dad. Holly's friends are her mom's friends too and the relation ship between the girls is somewhat Steel Magnolias-esque. A few miles down the road, there is a prestigious school for musically-talented teens which Holly dreams of attending. After her perfectly gorgeous, sweet, caring, and never overpowering boyfriend (whom her mother adores), sends a demo tape of Haley to the school, Holly is scored an auditions and soon accepted with a full scholarship. She then excels at her new school.

In a seemingly last minute attempt to add depth to the fairy tale, Holly's mom holds a deep, dark, secret about Holly's past which "threatens to tear their relationship apart." However, as I hope most (hint hint) adopted girls would agree, the secret is not so bad.

Even though A Mother's Gift targets ten-year-olds, the writing is overly simple ("totally" is a regularly appearing adjective). I wouldn't buy it for my little sister's birthday, if I had a little sister. ...

Summary: Britney Spears writes a book...
Review: I am a huge Britney Spears fan, so of course I am going to pick up this book. I didn't buy it at first, I checked it out at the library just in case I didn't like it. I finished the book in a few days, and I completely love it. It might not be a masterpiece, but it is still a nice story. I read just about all of the reviews prior to writing my own, and some people are really harsh! "Unoriginal" was a word that I saw a lot. Did you people expect a Leo Tolstoy novel? Some people have also criticized Britney and her mother for even attempting to write the novel, and then pointed out typo's in the book. People aren't perfect, it's just a way of life. And I am sure they didn't type the book themselves and then hand it in, and right after that the book became published. Obviously, an editor went through the book and then the book became published. Some people are very narrow minded about things, especially if they do not like Britney Spears, there is already a bias. This book is for people who like nice, heartfelt stories. I recommend that you watch the movie "Brave New Girl" that is based on this book. Britney and her mother produced the movie. It premieres on ABC Family channel on April 26th at 8PM. Keep an eye out for that movie, and then if you like the movie, read the book, or vice versa.

All in all, this book was pretty good. Give it a try and dont listen to the prior reviews.

Summary: Yes, spears can write!
Review: I read this book in 2 days. This book is amazing, it is all about a mother daughter relationship and how they overcome obstacles that are hard for many teenagers. A girl gets a chance to change her life and follow her dreams and her mother is right behind her supporting the decision and keeping her daughter in line. Who cares who wrote the book, it is good. Don't judge it by it's cover. My mom even liked it, and she thinks that Britney is a bad role model. This book is good though, and can be really inspiring.

Summary: I would like a no star rating! Stay away from this book
Review: This book is just pure nonsence, I completely agree with the person wondering how someone could let these women pen a book. What were they thinking?

Summary: Artificial Sweetner For Today's Soul
Review: At fist, I tried to ignore this "book" by Britney Spears. But I was at my local dollar store and saw that they were carrying it for only a dollar! So, for whatever reason came over me, I picked up a copy and read it. Boy, what a big disapointment (which I figured it was)!

The plot is simple: A young girl named Holly has a natural talent for singing and wins a scholarship to the prestigious Harverty School of Music, which she has been eyeing. Her mother, Wanda, is a constant embrassasment to her. Plus, Wanda has a secret of her own, which leads in a struggle that could brake the bond between mother and daughter.

There are so many things wrong with this book. First off, the writing and pace of the story is done rather quickly, making the reader "hungry" for more. Also, the cookie-cutter characters are not believable, which also make the book strain. The plot is very good, but when you get characters that have rather silly names (such as McSpadden, for example) and among other things, it makes you think twice as to how much throught Britney and her mom, Lynne, put into it. The only pure reason why this "novella" was at all published is because of Britney's once-popular star power.

The one thing I most disliked about the book was it's treatment of the how the bond between a mother and her daughter will combat over anything and everything. It's very common for writers' to take their own experiences and intergrate them into their works, but this is complete ridiculous! The trails that Wanda and Holly go through seem empty; there is no meat added to this story. Plus, as the old saying goes, if you got the natural talent to write, then do so. But, it seems that Britney and Lynne need a few lessons in English Grammer first before they attempt to publish another novel.

If you want a better portral of mother-daughter bonding, I highly reccommend Any Tan's The Joy Luck Club. Other than that, this is stricly to tweens and teeny-boppers only!

Summary: Who told Britney she could write?
Review: ... The story itself is sugarcoated, sterotypical, and unoriginal. The country girl is a poor redneck with big dreams. The rich girl, Ditz, is materialistic and unloved/ignored by her snobbish parents. The writing style is horrible. There's barely any flow between sentences and it's really awkward at times. This story is definitely not one to read if you can't sort things out. Too many skipping from one idea to another than I would have liked.

Recommended reading for those with nothing better to do and Britney fans. You'll probably find more inspiration from a "Behind The Music" episode.

Summary: Too bad we can't rate this with a ZERO.
Review: A part of me has died after reading this book. How anyone would let a pen into these two people's hands totally blows my mind.
