Rating: Summary: A very good book. Review: If you love female butt-kicking action, then this book is for you. This book had me reading about 15 pages a day, but after I got to page45, I read the whole thing in 2 hours! Don't get me wrong, the book captivates your mind throughout the whole book. Although it saddens me to think that her romance won't be with the handsome green-eyed Neal, but with someone else. I wanted Alanna to end up with Jonathan too.I love Jump, and this book neer wanders. When something is not right you'll know before they say so.This book was not as good as Alanna or Daine's books, but it is definitely one of the best I have ever read.
Rating: Summary: Terrific, fun, great read Review: "Page" is a great read. Would I give it 5 stars if it wasn't? The main character, Kel, is the first known female knight-in-training in over one hundred years. She goes through many difficulties in this second installment of her training, such as growing from a girl to a young woman, a band of boys who want to make her life miserable, a training master who is either trying to help her or make her quit, and so on. She makes many new friends, such as a torn-up dog, Jump; a new maid, Lalasa; and a plump "jolly" boy, Owen. There is action, adventure, romance (kind of), etc. Kel is a strong heroine any girl can look up to, with hopes, dreams, fears, and so on. She seems very real, and if it wasn't for the mideavil (I can't spell anymore.) setting, Kel would seem like a normal girl who goes to school with you. Well, enough reading this rambling review, GO AND BUY THE BOOK!
Rating: Summary: Page Review: I love this book. This is the second book of the Protector of the Small Series. In this book, Kel hires a shy maid Lalasa, who becomes a very good friend. She trains her to defend herself against attackers. Her also meets a new animal friend, her dog Jump, who is useful in combat. She goes through severel 'firsts'like having her first period and her first crush. Lalasa helps her to deal with it all. She still has to deal with the bully Joren and his cronies being as difficult as ever. At the end of the book, the day of the test to become a squire, Lalasa is kidnapped, and it is up to Kel to rescue her before it is too late.
Rating: Summary: disappointing... Review: i totally LOVED Pierce's Song of the Lioness, circle of magic, Immortals, and circle opens quartets, but I have to say that this one left me sorely disappointed. Though the style of writing remained the same, the plot and the characters were lacking. The brilliance of the plots of the first couple quartets seem to be wearing off. I dont like the character of Kel at all. It really bothers me that shes just soo lovesick all the time. Shes supposed to be a strong female character, yet all she does is throw herself at different male characters. She is only 12 years old for heaven's sake. After reading this book, ive stopped reading any more of Ms. Pierce's books, yet mayb ill start the next quartet in hopes that Ms. Pierce's writing has improved.

Rating: Summary: Alex's review Review: In this book Tamora Pierce breaks her run of heroines who can do magic and presents us with Keladry, a girl trying to be a knight with no talents other than hard work, leadership, and responsiblity availible to her. Keladry is a thoughtful, stoic heroine, but readers will find themselves attached to her nevertheless as she attempts to become the first female knight since Alanna, training openly as a woman.
As an added element of interest, Keladry spent her early life on the Yamani isles, which Pierce patterned after Japan. This gives the reader an idea of the larger world around Tortall, and will be fascinating for fans familiar with Pierce's other works.
Keladry is an entertaining character, and her dedication and loyalty allow her to serve as a role model to readers.
Rating: Summary: Yah! Review: Kel's second book is just as appealing, thought-provoking, and suspenseful as the first. In this book, Kel must once again fight the prejudice of those who think women cannot be warriors.
A page in the Royal Palace at last, Kel continues to be tested by the other boys-especially a particularly nasty boy named Joren and his cronies. However, with her strength, ability to be quiet and listen, and well-thought-out views, she has attracted more and more friends over the years, including the Crown Prince Roald, a boisterous older page named Cleon, the fiery-tempered Merric, a misshapen dog called Jump, and an abused young maid, Lalasa. And, of course, there's always the energetic Neal-unfortunately, Kel's feelings for him are taking a most uncomfortable turn...Throughout her years as a page, Kel proves that she is worth her mettle, and that she has an uncanny ability as a commander. But at the end of her years as a page comes the Exam, and if you arrive late, you will be forced to complete another whole year-maybe even all four years!-as a page. Someone has it in for Kel, someone who knows exactly where her loyalties lie, and they have a plan that could ruin absolutely everything...
Yet another great book. Pierce will never fail to surprise me with her amazing ability to turn out a matchless book every time.
Rating: Summary: What Can I Say? Review: Ms. Pierce has managed to write yet another absolutly fantastic book. I have read all of the Alanna books; the Immortals quartet; and the circle of magic quartet. I am falling in love with this series, I bought The first test yesterday afternoon and begged my mother to go buy the sequel that night. Today I have read THE PAGE twice and THE FIRST TEST once more. I have fallen for both Neal and Cleon and am looking forward to hopefully something more between one of them and Kel in the next novel. Joren continues to puzzle me and I am dying to see who picks Kel for a squire in the next book. Owen is such a sweet heart, u cant help likeing him! Kel possess's the charm of all Ms. Pirce's other characters plus an sweet personality that makes me want her as my best friend. The only slight complaint I have is that Kel has not yet discovered who her sedret gift giver is...its SO obvious! Anyway it was a wonderful book and I cant wait for the next one!
Rating: Summary: Still wonderful! Review: This is the second book in a series following the adventures of Keladry, a young girl who wants to be a knight. She overcomes all the obstacles put in her path by the conservatives in power who think women shouldn't be knights. There are wonderful relationships with the other pages, fully subplots with her coterie of animal companions, and a real understanding by the author of what it's like to be a square peg in a round hole. Good gift for any young woman struggling with identity issues.
Rating: Summary: I wish I was still reading this book! Review: This was my favorite out of all the Tamora Pierce series and one of my favorites out of the series. I liked the first book too. And the third. I haven't read the fourth yet though. Kel is a great character who is so kind and adventurous.
