Rating: Summary: My Review on Waiting for the Rain Review: Reading Waiting for the Rain was like having your mom tell you that you can't go to a party and you don't know why. The story explains things happening right at that time, but you don't know why it is going on, because there wasn't enough detail to let you know the background of the story. The author used a lot of hard words without explaining them. I think this book wasn't so good because some kids don't know what is going on at all,due to the little education we are taught in school like the holocaust. Luckily our teacher showed us a movie after the book to let us know what really was going on.

Rating: Summary: Waiting for the Rain: a review by Rachel Mecklenborg Review: Reading "Waiting For The Rain" was like being trapped in the Sahara Desert: it was really dry and you get bored fast. In most parts you got thirsty for something to happen, and when it finally did, it was only a drop. When something exciting did happen it was only a short time. It was also like having a canteen full of water but was only around for a short time because you drank it all. Just to give you an example the height of the story was when Tengo hit Frikkie in the head.
Rating: Summary: Friends Separating because of Different Jobs Review: Waiting for the rain was a very bad book. I thoguht that it had no piont to it. The Title didn't have any point to it. There we some good parts like the fight and all the arguements Tengo and Frikke had. I think the the story was trying to give out the when you do separate thing you will find out who your real friends are. the story talks about a lot of hate when your friends get mad at each other, too. I thought the book was also going to be about a huge storm that hit a large city and destroy everything. --
Rating: Summary: A slow painful death into boredumb Review: Waiting for the Rain is not a good book to read. The story is about two childhood friends that find themselves on different sides of a race-torn South Africa. The book seems to just drag on because of lack of action. The only good part was when in Frickie's and Tengos adult years they find themselves face to face in a battle. The book got two stars for its good historical value. Enless you want to learn more about South Africa's history, I do not recommend reading this book.
Rating: Summary: "Waiting for the Rain" Review Review: Reading "Waiting for the Rain" was like watching your favorite T.V. show. You just can't wait to see what happens next. For example, when Tengo goes off to school and Frikkie goes to the army, you want to read on and see if and when Tengo and Frikkie will meet up again. Also, when the riots start, you want to keep going and find out if Tengo will give in to his anger or follow through with his dream of studying in the states. The authors' description of the setting was very detailed. For example, when she described the farm and the veld I could actually picture it in my mind. Overall, I felt the book was very educational for the reader. But, I also thought the ending could have used a little more information on the characters' lives as a result of aparthied.
Rating: Summary: It's Raining Rats And Elephants! Review: reading waiting for the rain was like reading a book about stick figures. the reason i thought it was boring was that the characters were boring people, they were not to active. all they did was work on a farm all day, milking cows pluckin the chickens and working in the field!
Rating: Summary: Trevors Review Review: reading Waiting For Them Rain was like reading Romeo and Juliet in spanish; its confusing. Some parts were boring and some parts were exciting. It was hard to know who was talking and who the people were. They had so many confusing names. As far as how interesting the story was, most parts would put me right to sleep. There were 2 cool parts; when Tengo was runnning from the whites and when Tengo and Frikkie broke up as far as friends go. Most of the storys setting took place on a farm. How interestingcan that be? If you want to read a book before bed, this is the one. It'll put you out like a light. This book is as good as watching a car rust, it will seem like forever. I will give this book 1 star.
Rating: Summary: Cory's Review for Waiting For The Rain Review: The book "Waiting for the Rain" had its good times and its bad times. The dialog in this book was great, you knew a lot about how the blacks were treated. The author also used great detail but she did use some Afrikaans vocab that a lot of kids wouldn't understand. This book teaches how the blacks were treated in South Africa. My favorite character was Tengo because he would keep on fighting for what he wanted. My favorite part is when Frikkie and Tengo (ex-best friends) meet again later in the book and Tengo really lets Frikkie know how he feels. At this point, Frikkie isn't in school anymore. He is someone different and if you want to find out, go out there and read this book. Overall this book was pretty exciting and it had a lot of excellent points.
Rating: Summary: One Really Boring Book Review: The book "Waiting For The Rain" was extremly boring. At parts it was kewl, like when at the end when Frikkie went running after the African and found Tengo. Then what was really kewl, was when Tengo bashed Frikkie over the head and he started to bleed. Other than that, the book was extremly boring. When Tengo was talking about fun school was and Frikkie complained on how boring it was, boring! It was a really good book, if you like to learn about how blacks were treated and how whites thought they were in contol. I know I like to learn about it, but it was an extremly boring way on finding out information.
