Summary: Very Good -- Could have been Better
Review: I adore Ann Rinaldi. This book had some very good reviews so I bought and read it. I loved it, especially because I love a good historical fiction novel, and I LOVE a good romance.

When I finished it, however, I was left with the thought that something was missing. I couldn't figure out what it was for a while. Then I realized that it was the believeability. I had trouble believing the way that Mr. Reid transformed himself from archnemisis to true love in a few pages. All in all, though, it was a good book.

Summary: Amazing!
Review: Ann Rinaldi has again captured readers with her amazing book, Time Enoough For Drums. Jemima Emerson and her family are feeling the strain of the Revolutionary war before it arrives in their town. Jem has to defend her family and her home against the incoming British while still keeping up with her studies. Her tutor, John Reid, is a renowned Tory, but Jemima uncovers his most hidden secret, that few people know. Jemima is amazed and confused with her new found knowledge and respect of John Reid. John and Jemima battle during lessons and seem to be on the verge of killing eachother when a twist of events thrusts Jem into adulthood. Soon the two find that they both feel for eachother and another Pandora's Box of mysteries is opened. I recommend this book to all age groups. It is a wonderful book with astounding respect to the Revolutionary War and everyone involved in it!

Summary: Love it
Review: "Time..." is the story of Jem, a teenage girl, and is set during the Revolutionary war. It chronicles her ascent from child to woman in a time of horror and despair. The relationships between the characters are good, especially between Jem and her enigmatic tutor, John. The characters are well fleshed out and the plot is paced nicely. In my opinion, this is Rinaldi at her best.

Summary: Perhaps Rinaldi's best
Review: I'm 15 years old, the same age as Jem who is the main character of the novel when the novel begins. She is a sassy, free spirited girl who hates having to act like one. Instead of going to the local girls acadamy, she gets tutored by John Reid who she loathes even more than old King George himself! She is a true Patriot and will do anything for the cause and can't stand the fact that he is a noted Loyalist. But as the Revolutionary War occurs, and things change Jem's feelings change a lot and some have to deal with even John in a romantic way. I have been reading Rinaldi for a couple of years and with this read you will never get bored.

Summary: Wonderful Revolutionary War Novel
Review: "Time Enough for Drums" was another great novel by Rinaldi - I would say her best!

15-year-old Jemima Emerson is a feisty, headstrong Patriot girl during the Revolutionary War, constantly getting into trouble. She is convinced that her worst problem is her strict Loyalist tutor, John Reid. Jem hates to study under his watchful eye - after all, he is a hated Tory! But when her brother and boyfriend go off to war, and the war and everything with it comes dangerously near to her family, she learns John's secret, and his freedom is now in her hands...

This was a great, exciting novel, with everything to make a well liked story - romance, adventure, intrigue, strong characters, a historical background - anyone aged 12 and up would enjoy it, I'm sure! Be sure to also read "Cast Two Shadows" and "The Winter of Red Snow", two other great Revolutionary War novels, and possibly also see the movie "The Patriot".

Summary: The Best book ever!!
Review: This was the third Ann Rinaldi book I read and I say it was the best. By now i have read 12 and I still think it is the best. It is about a girl named Jemima Emerson who is being tutored by a Tory named John Reid. She hates her tutor very much. At first she is always running away from her lessons and John cannot control her. Then being faced with might having to go to Philidelphia lessons get harder and John gets stricter. Then in the middle of the book she finds out he is an American spy. After she knows he is not for the British she realizes she loves him and he loves her. I thought this book was very well written and deserved a medal. The author makes it as if you were Jemima yourself. I have already read this book seven times and am going towards ten. Again I say this is the best book ever!

Summary: Great Book!
Review: Time Enough For Drums was a great book! I have read several more of Rinaldi's books and this one was farsay the best. Here is my review: " Fifteen year old Jem suffers from the hardships of everyday life. She is a constant problem for her tutor, John Reid. John, is a Tory-school teacter, and Jem dislikes him because of that and the way he scolds her. As life goes on, Jem gets caught up in the ways of John Reid. Then, Jem finds out John's life is in her hands; his freedom."

Summary: Historical Romance
Review: This book is to be praised highly. Rinaldi brings history alive in this book, as well as others. This is my favorite book. With the romance woven into the story, it will keep your attention. With these, and other books, you can learn about the history of our country with ease. I wish all who read Ann Rinaldi books to have a good time.

Summary: A Treasure!
Review: I received this book yesterday from my cousin and instantly fell in love with it! I have read some of Ann Rinaldi's work before and enjoyed them thoroughly. However, this book is on a whole other level. Set during the Revolutionary War, this book provides good historical information. For example, it describes the turning the point of the Revolutionary War when Washington surprised the British at Trenton on Christmas Day.

There is also raw emotion in this story that people of all ages may identify with. It tells of the love between a family even as war tears them apart. Deep guilt and grief with the loss of a family member. However, love is the underlying emotion that ultimately prevails. The relationship between Jemima and John Reid captures our imagination and hearts...
