Summary: A little strange, but ok!
Review: When I picked up Time Enough For Drums and read the first chapter, I was expecting the main character, Jemima, to be more strong-willed than she turned out to be. At first, she seemed intellegent and courageous, but as the book went on, she became more of a "soldier's girl" who only thought about her loved one returning for her. That also bothered me. How could someone so smart fall in love with her tutor, John, who was never nice to her? Although I was expecting more from Jemima, this book was fun to read and hard to put down.

Summary: My Absolute Favorite Book!!!!
Review: I am a HUGE fan of Ann Rinaldi's books. The first book I ever read of hers was "The Last Silk Dress" and as soon as I finished it, I knew I wanted more. "Time Enough for Drums" is my absolute favorite book. It's about a girl named Jemima Emerson who is living in a time of war. She loves to disobey her tutor, John Reid, because she THINKS he is a Tory. When she finds out his true identity, she falls in love with him. Jemima faces many hardships as the war battles involve the ones that she loves. But through it all, Jemima stays strong. You definitly have to read this book, especially if you are a fan of Ann Rinaldi!

Summary: Bravo Ms. Rinaldi!
Review: When I read al the reviews for 'Time Enough for Drums', I knew that this book was for me! I read it within one day, and I lved it! It has a touch of romance, with a lot of action, and many feelings. My mom remembers reading this book! Jemima Emerson is a free spirit, with a mind of her own. She has a hard time keeping her tongue under control, and that is exactly what John Reid, her English tutor, wants to do. Jem hates this man, partially because he is rude, and partially because he is a Tory, a strong man with ties to the English. He supports the English during the war. Jem tries her hardest to disobey Mr. Reid, but when her sister, who has dislodged herself from the family, and her Grandfather Henshaw show up to take Jem to Philadelphia, Jem begs her tutor to save her. Willingly, John Reid makes a deal with Jem. If she will study hard, then he will ask her parents to stay. Jem gets to stay, and she has a lot heading for her. Jem finds out that her mother is writing essays for the Pennsylvania Gazzette under an alias. She finds out that one of her neighbors loves her very much, that her brother is a strong man, and that John Reid is someone she least expected him to be. This book is good for pre-teen and teenaged girls. I think that Ann Rinaldi is a fabulous author, and therefore, I encourge you, Dear Reader, to read this book.

Summary: Excellent and Gripping book that wil always be in my Heart!
Review: I LOVED this book. It was full of rich detail and exciting scenes that I will always remember. Full of romance, excitement, suspense, and sadness, this is the best book that I have ever read. After reading one of Ann Rinaldi's other books, I discovered that I liked her writing style and I sought out another book by her. I found this book with the help of other amazon.com reviewers. Well, her goes another of these rave reviews:

Summary: A well written novel!
Review: Jemima Emerson lives in Trenton during the Revolutionary War. Both of her brothers end up fighting for it. Jemima is always doing something wrong and gets her tutor, John Reid, angry alot. Jemima is a strong Patriot compared to John Reid's loyalty to The Crown. Unfortunately, Jemima's hated tutor, John Reid, has permission from her parents to teach her additional subjects and is harder than ever on her. But soon, Jemima finds out something that she must keep her mouth shut about, otherwise she may lose a person that is very dear to her. I loved this book a lot, and I think this is Ann Rinaldi's best book! I like Historical Fiction very much, and this is an excellent book. Thanks!
