Rating: Summary: Dissapointed Review: I am a huge fan of charmed and of the books. I am proud to say I have read all of them, but sorry to say this one was the worst. I understand that the books are based on the T.V. show and not exactly the same, but my god Cole Porter??? perhaps the author couldn't make the story run smoothly if they didn't shoot fireballs? Thats the whole point of them having specific powers, so they have to make it interesting.
I also saw alot of typos like when one sister was supposed to say something but it had "Paige said" but it really as someone else. I also think that the book was way to descriptive and hard to get through.
I would however recommend the book to a fan, because maybe you'll like it. Read it and decide for ur self, but don't let ur expectations get too high.
Rating: Summary: Does Carla Jablonski or the editors even watch the show? Review: After reading the first page, I was asking myself this. There was a mistake on the very first page. Cole's last name isn't Porter people, its Turner. And also, since when can Phoebe throw energy balls? And, no, this book takes place while Phoebe and Cole are still engaged, not after their marrige when Phoebe turned evil. And how could Cole have any chance of staying alive after that thing attacked, if he lost his demonic powers in "Dark Vengence"? And why is Paige still comparing herself to Prue, and Piper still rejecting Paige? They got over that a long time ago, in lets say, "Garden of Evil" going by the novels. And how would the ancient Egyptians know about the Charmed Ones, or Power of Three, if the Power of Three cycle didn't start until the late 1600's?And how could Piper Phoebe or Paige have their powers in ancient Egypt if that DEFINATLY was before their powers and line was developed. And Paige isn't the "oh, look, Im need help. Will someone please come to my rescue?" kind of girl. So why wouldn't she try to orb herself when she got to the animal shelter, or better yet, in front of her sisters who would definatley tell that she was their sister? How could Tyler tap into Paiges powers? That was never fully explained.Other then these mistakes. The storyline was kind of interesting, but I think only a person who never watched the show could explain it.
Rating: Summary: the show is Charmed has the author seen it? Review: Being an avid fan of the hit TV series "Charmed", I felt inclined to go out and start collecting the novelizations of the show. Recently, I've purchased "Date With Death" and "Dark Vengeance." Both novels were just as exciting as the show. However, after reading the reviews of the latest novel (which was not written by Constance Burge) I don't feel it would be as imperative for me to obtain this book. Just as my opinion, I think it's really unfair to the series as well as the creator of the show, and even to the author, when a story is written and it doesn't seem to follow the general storyline. With all the other books I've read, it seems that the story is generally happening in relative syncronization with the tv series. I'd be really disappointed to pick up a book after watching the show, and then find that everything I'm reading goes against everything I've seen. I think that Jablonski would do good to actually watch the show and maybe do a little character research before trying to write another novel. (Phoebe shooting electricity balls???? Where did THAT come from?) Thank you for listening to my little ramble. If I can offer any other advice, go out and get some of the novels written by Constance Burge and see what an actual Charmed novel should be like.

Rating: Summary: So not Charmed Review: has carla jablonski ever even seen the show charmed?! she would know that they cant throw energy balls. This really really bugged me when i was reading it! plus the characters seemed really unlike themselves. It also had an old story plot going on- that paige felt bad compared to prue, and piper still couldnt accept paige. this was settled last year! before she writes another book, maybe carla should actually watch the show!
Rating: Summary: A second chance. Review: I decided to finish this book, even with all the mistakes that were made...Cole's last name...Phoebe throwing energy balls. I did enjoy the concepts of shape-shifting and time-travel, just not enough to save this book from landing where it belongs--in the garbage can. Piper and Phoebe travel back to ancient Egypt to save Paige. A mistake is made, and they take the wrong cat. This cat happens to be a woman as well. (Read the back cover. I am not giving a single thing away, here.) The sisters return to ancient Egypt. An awesome battle sequence occurs, but the details are bad! Why is Piper all of a sudden shooting energy balls? I actually have to disagree with one of the other reviewers--Paige having this ability would make sense (if her powers were developed--I remember an episode where another White-Lighter takes over for Leo; 'Natalie' shot energy balls at Piper to train her against the warlock that had stolen several powers). Also, Constance Burge's name appears on every 'Charmed' novel. This is because she is the show's creator. But she has written very few of them. As for the evil character knowing about the 'Charmed Ones'--it was the demon she was with that explained this to her. Tyler tapping into Paige's power was not explained well--but I think it had something to do with her being a cat, which is an extremely powerful symbol in ancient Egypt. Paige not using her orbing powers at the animal shelter--maybe shock...that she actually shape-shifted--that Piper and Phoebe gave her away. Plus she cannot always orb at will--usually has something to do with extreme fear or necessity. And for trying to prove herself as good as Prue does not quite work out in this book. Prue, though not planned that way, shape-shifted in the episode where Phoebe's pain and sorrow caused her to be turned into a banshee. As for their powers working in ancient Egypt--because 'Charmed Ones' have always existed. But history can only be traced back to existing WRITTEN records. Their ancestor Melinda Warren had ancestors too--I doubt that these powers would just pop out of nowhere, all of a sudden--like there was no evil to battle way back before the 1600s.
Rating: Summary: pretty good book Review: i have read a few of the other reviews and i have to ask them to lighten up a bit. i am currently writing my own charmed book and it is already not consistent with the tv show. one of the problems is that you get an ideal and then the show moves in a diffrent direction or by the time you get your book published, your ideals may be a little out of date. maybe this author started writing the book at the beginning of season 4 and a lot of the relationships between piper and paige would have been right in line. i thought the book was cute and would reccomend it. and now to my review. paige is feeling like she can never feel prue's shoes so when she finds a spell to change herself into an animal she jumps in head first without thinking about the consequences. she turns into a cat and this leads her on many adventures including one to egypt which makes this book in my opinion diffrent, imaginative and funny at times. i personally take my hat off to the author and as one who is definitely struggling with her own book, all i can say is i can't see how you get all your thoughts together to make such a great book.
Rating: Summary: Pretty Good Book! Review: I have read some other peoples reviews and they were defiantly too harsh! I love the show too, and i can understand why you fans are annoyed at the silly mistakes (eg. Coles name) but you have to remember that these books are only BASED on the series (as it says on the front cover) and each book is written by a different author, which means they have a different style of writting and different point of veiws. Anyway, to the book. Paige Matthews, the newest member to the 'power of three', is having identity problems. She wants to impress her sisters and without really thinking it through turns herself into a cat! The problem? she cant turn herself back and her sisters accidently swap her for another cat! read the book to find out more and how paige gets herself out of this mess! Over all, a creative and interesting book.
Rating: Summary: Just awful! Review: I read several bad reviews before I bought this book and decided to make the purchase anyway, giving it the benefit of the doubt. I'm sorry I did. I had to force myself to finish this book only because I hate to just abandon a book. I try to give a book the benefit of the doubt and hope that it gets better and most times I'm pleasantly surprised by the end, but this book did not. First of all Phoebe has never been able to shoot energy balls. Well, there was that time on the show when she was pregnant with Cole's demon spawn, but that is not the case in this book. The dialogue is just boring. It lacks the witty banter that the show always has. The action was seriously lacking as well, which is never the case for the show. I am very disappointed in this book. Charmed is one of my all time favorite shows and I *thought* that any book based on its characters would be a good read. I was seriously mistaken. If I could rate this book lower I would. Perhaps someone not very familiar with the characters and the show itself would enjoy this, but fans who have been there from day one will most likely find this horrible. You'd be better off saving your money on this one.
