Rating: Summary: A Good Read Review: I found this book quite entertaining but it did leave out thereligious part of the Craft, except in the character Tillie. I couldwax ecstatic about the way a certain previous reviewer who wouldn't even give their name misinterpreted the cover badly, but I, unlike some people, am here to review the book. I do not feel that calling on the Wild Hunt is a good idea in any circumstance, however, if you have read the book and seen what happens when the characters do, you would have to be absolutely thick to do so. Back to reviewing, however. I feel this book is quite excellent for Witches who have been discriminated against (and I am one), making me realize I am much better off. Also, if you are not a Witch, it makes an interesting story. Oh, and to the person I mentioned earlier: It's not jail, and some people dress like that now unless you are from the eighteen hundreds you should not be surprised. I say, have you read the book at all?
Rating: Summary: An Engrossing Read Review: I had read Silver's Teen Witch! and really enjoyed the way she wrote so out of curiosity I picked up this fiction book. I enjoyed it and noticed that many of the spells she mentions are real but that Bethany also made a lot of mistakes. Her actions don't really follow the Wiccan Rede. It took me about two days to read this and some they were both school days. My friends (who aren't Witches) even wanted to read it. The story was an engrossing mystery and made me want to finish very badly. I was able to predict some of the ending but not quite the same way it ended. It even contains a real spell that you can do!
Rating: Summary: I Like This Review: I had read Silver's To Stir a Magick Cauldron and had heard of her fiction and I got all 3 of the Witches Chillers on the same day because I could afford it. While not exactly cheap, that's about the average price of a regular mass market paperback. It baffles me how most people can't sheell out 5 bucks or so for a paperback. A clever, hip account of a fictionalized coven of witches. Though called Witches Chillers, I think this would only scare a Christian or those unsure of their spirituality. Those who are unsure of their faith get petrified at any strong views, regardless of what the thing is. A cool series of books for younger people interested in the occult. I would give it 5 stars but it is not a classic. The equivalent of a B horror film I guess.
Rating: Summary: If only... Review: I have been looking for an author to replace my favorite - L.J. Smith. I picked this one up because I have read through one of Ravenwolf's books and thought it was quite decent. It, however, was nonfiction and this is fiction. There are errors as others have pointed out and it seems to have skipped the good old fashioned workshop phase. I believe it would have greatly improved the writing. There was a storyline here. I just feel that it fell short of what it could have been...I suggest the relatively new (?) talent of Isobel Bird and her series Circle of Three.
Rating: Summary: read it to form your own opinion. Review: I have to admit i only bought this book because of the 'harsh' reviews it got, not because I was drawn to the story. First of all, I like the reason why Silver wrote this book, to make the teens on the cover of "teen witch" come alive as 'real teen witches'. I do feel she should make the storyline more realistic: I don't like the fact I could summon the hounds of hell with a ritual! The book itself is a nice read and comes across as interesting and amusing but not to be experienced as true wicca by teenagers. Right now I am halfway through the book and I am really hoping that by the end of it the girls learn a few lessons about acting on revenge. Do read it to make up your own mind about it!
Rating: Summary: I LOVE THIS BOOK! Review: I love this book. I am a fairly experienced wicca, and I only bought this book an hour ago and I've finished it! It's fantastic. I adore all of Silver's books, I own about 5 of them. I think her fiction is amazing. I really feel sorry for Bethany when she feels lonely, and I feel the hatred towards Angela. When the cheerleaders are shouting at her i want to kill them! And i can feel the magick bubbling and brewing inside of me when she is raising power. Its a must anyone, magickal or non magickal, young or old!
Rating: Summary: This ws a great book Review: I loved this book, even though I found the ending to be a little predictable I still loved it and would recomened it to anyone
Rating: Summary: Great Book Review: I personally LOVED this book. And I think adults would enjoy it as much as teens! I was little concerned it would be "too young" for me when I bought it, b/c I am over 20, But I was pleasantly surprised at how well written and enjoyable this book was. It was a fun read with strong, interesting, characters. I can't wait to read the rest of the series, as well as all of Siver's books! Keep up the good work.
Rating: Summary: It's NOT a book of shadows, it's a work of FICTION Review: I read this book in an afternoon- it's a compelling story andand easy read. I think teens will enjoy the story and thecliff-hanger chapter endings. I'm a public librarian and see Silver's books checked out every day and think this one will be no different! (And in response to an earlier review: Authors do NOT get to choose their covers. That is done by the PUBLISHER. Learn a little about the business before you pipe up and sound, well, uneducated. Secondly, this is a work of FICTION. Nowhere does Silver advocate that you or your loved ones run out and invoke the hounds of the wild hunt. I thought Silver handled that aspect very responsibly. )
Rating: Summary: Wonderful Book Bashed for Silly Reasons Review: I really loved this book. I am fourteen, so I am one of those that the book was written for: Teens. (...) This is fiction. (...) Yes, Bethany does invoke the Dark Goddess twice and does a little damage, but in both those times she was being wrongly accused of outrageous stuff. That doesn't justify her actions (...) (...) This coven is practicing alone without guidance. I don't think they knew exactly what they were doing. (...) This is a great book and I think any teen would enjoy it(...)
