Rating: Summary: Um...okay... Review: Annie, Cooper, and Kate are invited to a house for the Yule celebration. Each are captivated by the stories they hear about the house bieng haunted, and by the groups that each are in to celebrate. Kate is in the Water group with Lucy, one of the daughters of the owners of the house. Lucy is withdrawn and hostile toward Kate. But when Kate hears Lucy's worst fear, will she be able to help? Will Kate believe her? Annie is in the Earth group. Annie is again confronted with the idea of rebirth and death. Will she be able to handle it? Cooper is in the Air group with Nora, Lucy's twin sister. Nora tells Cooper, Annie, and Kate of a ghost named Mary who talks to her. The Circle of Three investigate how Mary died. But they believe that Nora is holding something back in the story about Mary. And when they find out what it is, will they be able to get out of it if the treo work together? *coughs* Well, this story was a little...off. I mean, it did keep some of the concepts of Wicca, but it kind of lost me when it came to the ghost story. And it got kind of...boring. It didn't keep me captivated as the others did. Sorry, Isobel.

Rating: Summary: getting dull Review: I have liked others in the series, but this one just didn't click for me. The 'twist' at the end was extreamly easy to guess. Her passive writing style is also beginning to grate, it's far too preachy and contained. The book didn't do anything good with the characters at all. Isobel's writing is losing it's spark, and I think she's relying to much on the fact that the girls are studying Wicca, instead of the real storyline. If you plan to buy this book just to see what type of Yule lore there is, and ideas for rituals, save your money. And if you still want to read it, get it out from the library. In summary, the passion has left the series. I can only hope it will come back soon.
Rating: Summary: Fun, but not great Review: In HOUSE OF WINTER, the girls go on a Wiccan retreat at a hotel that is supposedly haunted. The first chapter is intriguing but the story does not hold up. We are told about one set of ghost, which readers will think is the focus of the story until we get another situation involving ghosts that is unrelated. Maybe the girls can go back to the hotel sometime and solve the mystery!! The first chapter is excellent. After that, the story is "good" but not great. I am waiting for the book that matches wits with BLUE MOON and THE FIVE PATHS. Just four more books before round one of the series is completed with INITIATION. I cannot wait--and I hope it ends big.
Rating: Summary: The House of Winter Review: Kate, Annie and Cooper go to a hotel high in the mountains to celebrate Yule in the true Wiccan spirit. But when they get there, The mystery of the house lurs them to a secret, a secret almost a hundred years old! The ghost of Mary O'Shea has come back and is trying to get them to help her do good. The girls think they're doing the right thing when they help her. Or are they?
Rating: Summary: Too horror-like Review: This book was somewhat disappointing to me. Its story of good and evil ghosts, playing with dark magick, possession, and other elements was more suited to a teen horror thriller, not a series that up until now has done a realistic, respectful treatment of what real Wicca is. The story itself is entertaining, but not what I've come to expect from this series.

Rating: Summary: An Avid Reader Review: This is the latest in the "Circle of three" series and my favorite. It has our favorite three "almost witches" trapped in an extremely old hotel. Although the Cooper, Annie, and Kate find themselves far from the comfort of their small town, the hotel gives them plenty of action in the midst of a blizzard. If you enjoyed Bird's craftily written characters and their "witchy" adventures then you are sure to be wrapped up in this roller coaster of adventure.
