Rating: Summary: Darkness, be my friend Review: I read this book for a school project. Of course i read thefirst 3 as well. I found all of them to be very interested anddetailed. I would definatley recommend the series to young readers. There were a few "questionable" content but over all a very good novel.
Rating: Summary: Here we go again Review: I'm a big fan of the first three, and I love the way that the third one ended, but this book does nothing for the series. I got bored, and realised that the excitement that made the first one so original, has been gradually declining with the publication of each book. Nevertheless, this is hard to put down, and if you've read one, you may as well read them all. It's just sad that this is not the end, there are others. I find myself spending too much time with these characters and beginning to despise them.
Rating: Summary: All time fav. Review: I've been reading Johm Marsdens book for 3 or 4 years, I just can't get enough. I have never read any other book/series that reaches out and touches the hearts of all it's readers. I've have had the pleasure of meeting JM in person and he signed the 5 books i owned from the series (that's all there was at the time) after giving a talk to a lecture hall full of students. He shared some of his writing secrets and tips with us and we all learned a lot. It is an experience I will never forget, and a memory i will forever treasure. I recomend that every one reads this book, as it is exceptionally well written and throughly enjoyable. I usually try to read the complete series 2 to 3 (or once 4) times a year. I can hardly wait until the 7th (and suposed final) book is released later this year.
Rating: Summary: I finished the series.... Review: I've read all seven! Fellow Americans, eat your heart out. I found #6 at Amazon.com.uk. And was in Australia early this month when #7 had just arrived in a bookstore. Anyway, once you start you'll probably read all seven of the "Tomorrow" books. You may stumble on some of the Australian terms (chook for chicken). And the Aussie approach to some things about which we are still puritanical is sorta fun.
Rating: Summary: great book!!!!! Review: just not as good as the rest. probably just because there isn't as much romance and not as many exciting events, but its still a great book and has its great parts. anyone should read it girls or boys, 9 to 99. But what about the others? If anyone knows where i can get #s 5 and up, please tell me, also if you know the names of the books.
Rating: Summary: It's Great Review: The book was thrilling from cover to cover. I found it interesting and the way that the caracters were portrayed i was able to relate to them.
Rating: Summary: What a letdown! Review: The first three books were filled with action, romance and courage. The 4th book, Darkness, Be My Friend, barely covered these topics which made the other three so great. Unlike the other ones, there wasn't a big action scene in which the five triumphed like in the other ones. There weren't any Wirrawee Bridge or Cobbler's Bay scenes in the fourth book. The romance was minimal and the book dragged on at times. However, I couldn't put it down and I read it in one day.
Rating: Summary: Beyond incredible . . . these books are too powerful! Review: These books are incredible. There are not words to describe exactly how incredible. When you read these books, you get so swept up in them, so caught up in the realness of the emotion and the experiance and the characters, that you can't break loose - you are so completely caught up that you must, must must without a doubt read on till the end, unstopping. And then you've got to run to the bookstore and get the next one or go mad trying. These books affect you emotionally - they are powerful beyond logic. For example. When I finished the third book, I sat, clutching the book so hard my fingers turned white, for almost half an hour. Then I started to cry. I was in shock the entire weekend. This is one of the rare series that affects you mind and soul. Read it, if you want a powerful read, and incredible read beyond words. You will never, ever forget it.
Rating: Summary: John Marsden be my friend Review: This book is an essential part of a great series. From reviews the series can look really 'bad' with too much action, but once you get past the back cover and onto the reading, no one i know has been able to put it down - and that goes for the whole series. Once you have read the first book, everyone just wants to read them all. If you are reading the reviews after having read the first books, what are you doing? Just order the rest of the series and devour them. I have read all the books through at least 5 times in 2 years, all my friends have read them too. One bit of advice: buy the hardback version so that the spine doesn't bend so much from use that you can't read the titles! These are all great books, with 'realistic' storylines - because whp knows what would/could really happen? These books are so good i phoned my cousin in Oz to make sure it wasn't real. When you read any one of these, you feel like you're sitting on Ellie's shoulder, and that you are feeling and experiencing every feeling (physical and mental) with her. Everytime you read these books, the feelings will get stronger and harsher as you feel like you actually know the characters; if you haven't cried at least twice by the end of the series, what's wrong with you? Everyone should read these, and then think about how you would feel if someone invaded and occupied your home, destroyed your life and hurt you irreparably. War will never seem the same again, it may be necessary but it will always seem evil. We've just seen Iraq being invaded, in order to get rid of Sadaam right? Well when you watch the news and there are people in the background, imagine yourself as one of them. Bombs falling around your ears, people you can't understand shouting and waving guns at you, and expecting you to understand and change every thought and feeling you have been brought up to have. That's what happens to Ellie. Just think about it as real and then i dare you not to feel the pain with her.
