Summary: A book based on reality!
Review: Most people, if you ask them, think that there isnt really that much of a problem of teasing people based on appearances. This book prooves them wrong! There is a girl at my school who in fact is teased, not because she is fat, but becasue she is skinny. This book is a great book because it helps enlighten people on how the world really is!

Summary: TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE
Review: FINALLY THERE IS A BOOK THAT THE FRESHMAN CLASS CAN READ THAT IS NOT AT ALL AS BORING AS GREAT EXPECTATIONS. THIS BOOK COULD MAKE YOU LAUGH, CRY, EVEN BECOME JEALOUS OF LARA. I REALLY ENJOYED READING THIS BOOK AND I WISH TO ENCOURAGE OTHERS TO READ THIS BOOK NO MATTER WHAT YOUR AGE IS YOU WILL BE TOUCHED BY CHERIE BENNETTAND LARA'S STRUGGLES.

Summary: Michelle's Review
Review: I have read many books for school assignments and also just for fun, but I usually don't enjoy them as much as I enjoyed this book, Life in the Fat Lane. I felt I could relate more to the character- Lara than another story such as a soldier from Red Badge of Courage. I really recommend this book to anyone who would like to read about a story that deals with real-life issues.

Summary: Livin' in tha Fat Lane
Review: Well i wasn't exactly sure how high i should rate it probably actually a 31/2 which is good. It was an enjoyable book and quick reader which i like. I t had a somewhat positive moral even though one could take it the wrong way. I found it to play characters out stereotypically, but most stories tend to. It does make you take a 2nd look at how you treat everyone. it also, well, at least made me weight conscious although i already was. Its a good little book to take some of your frusturation out and read on a rainy day. I'd pick this book over Great expectations any day.lol.

Summary: Life in the Fat Lane
Review: Coming from someone who rarely reads, I had this book downed in 2 days. A very gripping tale of a girl who is in a conflict with herself and her disease. I would say this book is a great read for people of almost any age. I'm 16 in a month, and I really loved the book. It explores society's flaws and the desire to be 'perfect' when in reality, perfection doesn't exist.
A great read with a great lesson, Bennett describes the characters so well you feel like you've known them for years.
One thing before you read the book : don't start it if you have something important to do very soon! You won't be able to put it down! (Heh, I was kinda sorta late for work...Ooops.)

Summary: Life in the Fat Lane- Great book
Review: I think that Life in the Fat Lane is a very intriquing book. I found myself putting other things to the side, so I could read the book. I just couldn't wait to read the next page. This book makes you feel very fortunate for everything you have. I would suggest Life in the Fat Lane to almost any age group, mostly girls. Thr book is very well written and keeps you interested through out the whole book.

Summary: Come view the other side of the spectrum!
Review: This is a book that deviates from the norm. Instead of what you see on television, it shows you how life would be from both perspectives. We see the same girl with the same personality go from goddess to dust in a matter of weeks. It teaches us that while the outside may change, the same person is still inside.

Summary: Amazing book for girls and moms!
Review: One of the real pleasures of motherhood is being able to suggest books to my daughters, especially to be able to suggest books to the younger one that the older daughter read and loved. My eldest loved this novel when it came out a few years ago. Now that my youngest is 13, I was able to suggest to her that she try it. She said she'd read it, but only if I would, too! We both loved this book, for its honesty about the weight issues facing girls and women, for the honesty about Lara's psychological struggles and the strugges in her family, for the good humor and great irony amidst all the grit, and for its story of a teen girl who overcomes a very big obstacle. This is a novel that is standing the test of time, and we both read in a single night each, which says a lot about what a gripping read it is. Now, my youngest wants a sequel. I have to say, I'd want to read that sequel, too!

Summary: Not Up To Cherie Bennet's Usual Standards
Review: Now, I know this is not a truly serious piece of fiction. It's fluff and it's meant to be a quick read, so do not think that I went into the book with the wrong mindset. I have read Cherie Bennet's books for years, not just the Sunset Island ones but others as well (I believe there is one called Whatever Happened to Amber, that I would recommend) I was very excited about this book when it arrived, but after reading it was quite dissapointed. The book's plot was an interesting one, but it was not very well written and comes across as being completely and utterly cheesy. A better book dealing with a sudden change in how one establishes one's identity is Izzy Willy-Nilly, by Cynthia Voight. It doesn't deal with weight gain, but it addresses almost the exact same issues with a much more insightful and in depth view. Skip this book unless it's the last one you have in your house to read, and get something better to occupy yourself with until then.
