Summary: A potential Miss America goes to the other side, being fat.
Review: Lara has everything. A perfect boyfriend, a perfect figure, a perfect checkbook and a perfect grade average. Until she gains weight......lots of weight. What's wrong? She works out and has a healthy diet, so what's the problem? Well, she gets a metabolical disease. The less she eats could make her get bigger! Soon she goes from Homecoming Queen to reject. No one except her best friend Molly stands by her. Even her parents have lost faith. How can she reclaim her life? I loved this book. I think it's one of the best guides for a young girl in the world. First of all, it outlines how someone who is fat feels in a place full of skinny-minnies. And second of all it teaches you not to obsess over your body ! I have been changed forever by reading this book! I know now NOT to insult the larger ones and not to be obsessive over my own body. THANK YOU CHERIE BENNETT!

Summary: exceptional look at life on "the other side"
Review: Being a big ol' size 16 myself I can totally relate. In 4 years I went from a size 7/8 to a 16, although mine came from laziness and bad eating habits, not to mention two children. Weight is a very serious issue with most girls, and this book provides an insight as to how big people are treated. I too have endured hurtful comments and the trauma of shopping for clothes, when all the ones you like don't fit. This book had it all. Wonderful!

Summary: Unlike anything else I've read...
Review: It was amazing 2 see how when Lara was thin, everyone in her family was perfect. There were a lot of secrets, but you could tell that everyone was basically happy. But, even though no one would admit it, all the bad stuff that happened throughout the story were because of Lara's weight gain. This story really touched me. Even though I have never had 2 deal with being overweight, I now know how it feels. However, I HAVE had 2 deal with teasing (about other things) 2 my face, and, contrary 2 what others believe, people AREN'T always polite enough 2 keep the teasing 2 themselves. Anyway, GOOD JOB, CHERIE!!!

Summary: The Best Book Ever!!!
Review: I loved this book. I was at the bookstore one night not even looking for a book. We were there for my mom. But I picked the book up because the front cover had the title but had a beautiful thin girl on it. It intregued me. So I picked the book up and started reading it. I could not put the book down for a second, even when my parents asked me a question. I begged my mom to buy it and she did. I stayed up 'till 2:00am in the morning reading. I loved it to say the least. Now I buy everyone of Cherie Bennett's books. They will all keep you reading constantly. I'd recommend this book to everyone. Thin or fat.

Summary: The perfect book
Review: I LOVE THIS BOOK! I just picked it off of the shelf at the library because I was rushed. Now I am so happy that I was rushed. This book has the most amazing thruthness to that it seemed real. I couldn't believe that Lara actually was a homecoming queen and the next year she weighed 218 pounds! That's horrible! but it is definatly a book that I recomend to ALL teenage girls. My mom loves it, I love it, my friends love it. This is an awesome book!

Summary: I could almost feel myself in this book
Review: I think Cherie Bennett is a wonderful author. I've liked all of her books that I've read, but this one is probably my favorite one. So many teens can totally relate to this, just as I can. I've always been a little overweight, and I know how it feels to be the center of the jokes. I can totally put myself in Lara's shoes, although I don't weigh nearly as much. I was jealous in the beginning, with Lara being so skinny and popular, and then as she was gaining weight, I still envied her, she had a boyfriend that loved her enough to not dump her when she was overweight. This novel was definatly one of the best ones I've ever read. I definatly recommend this book to other teens, whether they're overweight or not. It will teach them how much it hurts people to get made fun of.

Summary: I saw myself through Lara's eyes
Review: Life in the Fat Lane is such a great book and I praise Cherie Bennett immensely for writing such a terrific novel! I have not been pretty all my life and I have been overweight and I felt so jealous at Lara for the perfect life she had in the beginning but then towards the end, I began to pity her and realized that I was happy with myself because even though I am overweight, I think I have a decent life and personality and that's what matters most to me!! I couldn't believe it when three guys actually liked Lara when she was overweight because that never happened to me! Best of all, I liked how she realized at the end that her life as never perfect to begin with. I hope there is another sequel coming out soon because this book is the best!! Every teenage girl should read this!!

Summary: A great book sure to leave you with a smile
Review: Life in the Fat Lane is a book that really teaches that popularity and looks aren't everything. Lara is a teenage girl with everything you could possibly desire, that is, until she starts gaining weight. Lara ends up gaining so much weight that she is able to realize how special her friend Molly is when she sticks to her side. I liked this story because it didn't say that everything was perfect, but it showed that it's not the end of the world when you gain weight. One of the best things about the book is that Lara learns not to degrade herself for being fat, and is happier with herself. People who like inspirational books or just a good book, will be sure to love Life in the Fat Lane.

Summary: This book is great, and is really realistic
Review: I really liked this book. Lara is, true to her nickname, a princess, and Cheris Bennett did an excellent job of portraying that aspect of her. I thought it was cool that the story was realistic; you know, it could happen to anyone. And it was interesting to see her walking in the shoes of the 'fat slobs' who she had previously looked down upon and pitied. It was also nice because it didn't have a perfect fairy tale ending.

Summary: it was so inspiring to see how lara dealt with her weight
Review: The changes Lara was faced with were difficult and depressing but she handled it beautifully. When her mother started to lose wieght and her father's infedelity was unavoidable she showed such poise and maturity that you can't help but admire her.
