Summary: Read it; give it to a young person
Review: My son and I both found this book very absorbing, and learned quite a bit from it. Read it and be treated to exciting adventures, excellent character development, provocative moral issues and fascinating historical information about, e.g., WW2 France (and Switzerland), the Resistance, and the role of women and children in it. Young people will especially benefit from reading about courage, perseverence, even heroism in action -- not in larger than life characters, but in "ordinary" people who find they can survive and make a contribution to a cause in extraordinarily difficult circumstances.

Summary: Under a War Torn Sky
Review: This book is about a young American boy who is the co-pilot to one of the American bomber planes back during World War II. His name is Henry Forester. On his 15th mission Henry's plane is shot down over what he believes is France. Henry then begins a long journey through Europe during a very difficult time. This book is an excellent book. Being from a shot-down pilot point-of-view is new and different. That it is written for teenagers also differentiates it. This book shows what happens when an American pilot gets shot down and how hard it is for him to survive in countries who hate Americans. Unlike some books, it doesn't glorify war, it shows how dangerous and terrifying war actually is and how everyone is affected by it. This book is great for all ages but the very young. I thought this book was full of excitement and adventure.

Review: This book takes place durring World War two. This book is about a young fighter war pilot that is the best plane flier that anyone has seen. While he is flying he gets shot down. He runs for his life. He trys to get into a program that lets him try to escape. I think one of the best parts is when he is trying to climb over the mountain and gets gaught by the gestapo. They try to torture him to get information. He doesn't give any information. He ends up escaping. Read this book yourself to find out if he gets home over the long terrifying road to his freedom!

Review: This book was great in story and drama but barely match up to historical facts and did not give a good detail of WWII wartime. As a teacher, I have, as other teachers have done, assigned this book to my students. After I read the book, however, it falsely describes many of the wartime situations but would be a good book for children because it, as I have heard from many students, suck them in. After all this said, I would not recommend reading this book if you are very much into history and facts.

Summary: Under a War Torn Sky
Review: This fictional book is about a 19-year-old American bomber pilot serving during World War II. He is shot down over Nazis occupied France. He escaped only by the help of a league of curious characters who were part of the French Resistance. I loved this book it really touched me by showing the struggles that were faced in Europe during the war, and of the personal struggle that everyday people went though to be free. The book also used historically accurate information on the portal of the people that were part of the French Resistance. I hope that I have helped you to see my view on this book, but remember that they are only my views, so check this book out and see for your grab your self the book Under a War Torn Sky, by L. Elliot.

Summary: Under a War Torn Sky
Review: This is a wonderful book for middle-school students and adults. It is right up there with "The Diary of Anne Frank". Through the eyes of a young pilot from Virginia, the horrors of war are revealed (though not too graphically) . The reader is also shown through the actions of the French Resistance love of family, love of country, honor, determination and the desire to be free at any cost. This is a timely topic, as young readers maybe questioning the reasons for this war American is now fighting. My entire family (2 adults 2 daughters) read this book and we all were moved by the story. This book should be added to any middle-school/high school reading list.

Summary: If the title doesn't get u then the book Definately will!
Review: This is by far one of the best books I have ever read! Her descriptive words bring every part of the book to life, to the point where these characters are no longer fictional, but they become a part of you. I thouroughly enjoyed this book, it doesnt take long to read and to tell the truth I wanted it to last longer! It is based on the true accounts of WWII, and the trials our men went through. This book grabs you with its emotion, and factuality. Extremely well written. It is definately a book that a non-reader would fall in love with instantly. Not a second dull, and keeps you turning the pages. The chapters end, leave a suspenceful pull for you to continuously start the next chapter. A must read for readers young and old! You should check it out and see for yourself what I am talking about, the love, the faith in people, and learning of how precious each and every day is. An eye oppening novel that never stops amazing.

Summary: under a war torn sky
Review: This is one of the better books that I have ever read. Just the right length too; it is 276 pages long and has twenty-six chapters in it. The book is great because it is very suspensful and has a lot of action; there is gore in this book too, but what can you expect from a book about a war. Some of the gore of course, happens when Henry's bomber "Out of the Blue" gets shot down. (page 36) "Then a pilot's body slammed into the glass window below the cockpit where Fred and Paul were crouched. 'God Almighty' Paul sobbed over the intercom. 'That guy's eyes were open. he looked right at me.'" And then on page 40, "Glass shattered. A scream of pain came from the bombadier's compartment below. 'God, oh God,' Paul cried out over th itercom. 'Fred's hit! There's blood everywhere! Oh, God.' Other cries of agony shrieked through the intercom"
Its kind of hard to find a theme in this book, but I think that it would be that there's no place like home. I think this because through out the whole story Henry keeps thinking of home, like his mother's cooking, or his father's stern ways, or Patsy. At this point in time this doesn't really relate to me because I live at home.
I would recomend this book because it is a fairly easy read and like i said it has a lot of action. Although this book ins't for the faint of heart.
