Summary: This book will move you
Review: I was on a first date with a literature fanatic and asked her to name the 5 or 10 best books she ever read. Most were obvious greats...however, she also mentioned Winterdance and told me about the Iditarod. I was so curious that we stopped at a bookstore cafe on the way home from the date and she bought it for me. I read it in two nights and laughed out loud over and over. I have recommended it to several friends and each has thanked me. Do yourself a favor and read this book.

Summary: I really did laugh right out loud!
Review: My co-worker gave me this book with a note that said "read this, you will laugh out loud!". So, as a dog lover I read it. Sure enough, I laughed right out loud and had to get myself together to call my co-worker to laugh with her. The book was so well written, so concise and yet so full of everything it is to know dogs. The Iditarod must truly be a race of crazy people, but I sure enjoyed my trip with Gary Paulsen. Now I want to read more of his books! Everyone with dog should read this book! I loved it!

Summary: A working dog owners "must read".
Review: As a very "dog person", and the friend and training partner of someone who is owned by Siberian Huskys who train for competitive obedience, I greatly appreciated the humor and candor of this book. A very fun read.

Summary: Absolutely Brillant
Review: A wonderful and hilarious account of an awesome trek across the Alaska...this book provides an insight into the fine madness of Alaskan dog-racing and it is a breathtaking journey not to be missed...A first hand account of the indomitable human spirit. In short, an absolutely brillant book!!!

Summary: not bad
Review: Paulsen ascribes an intimacy to his relationship with his dogs that few people are priveledged to understand. Not only is this a good read, it feeds the soul.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A wonderful story about the Iditarod race in Alaska
Review: This book was hilarious, and brutal in a way, because the author, Gary Paulsen, tells about his account in the Iditarod race. It is brutal because the race itself is so hard. I have learned a lot from this book. Everybody should get a chance to read this.

Summary: Hilarious, Heart warming
Review: As a Special Education Teacher I have read many Gary Paulson books to my students. The students love the adventures, thoughtfulness and triumph of the human spirit. As a teacher I read Woodsong to my students and they learned the lessons nature teaches. As an adult I read Winterdance. I laughed, empathized and now believe Gary's wife is a saint. The lesson for all of us is to live life to the fullest, it's a very short time we are here.

Summary: Died laughing! Best book I have read in a long time.
Review: I borrowed Winterdance and enjoyed it so much that I am buying two, one for a friend as a gift and one to share with family and friends. I couldn't put it down and can't wait to buy others by Gary Paulsen. I love the discription of the personalities of the dogs. I have never cried laughing so much, while reading any book, as I did with this one. After reading this, I would love to watch the Iditarod, but would never run in it. Gary Paulen's ability to decribe the hardships and pain, was outstanding and just made us laugh! Great book. Everyone should read this book!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Great!
Review: A must read! Incredible descriptions and engrossing prose intertwined with comedy make this book absolutely irresistable. If you value your sleep, stay away from this book because once you pick it up you will have trouble putting it down! Paulsen is obviously a gifted writer and his appreciation for nature is evident and compelling.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Buy this book.
Review: This is my all-time favorite book. My wife and I have bought and given away at least a dozen copies. Gary Paulsen's writing style make you feel like you are right there with him, facing a life and death stuggle with the elements. Will luck, some great dogs, and a terrific sense of humor be enough to pull him through? Get the book and find out.
