So what if it is not filled with great meanings? It is about life! love! taking chances!! I am sorry that it is not for "the die-hard sci-fi male" there are tons of sci-fi books that I read where the women are nothing more than love-toys, sorry that females want to read good sci-fi with characters we connect with. I am sorry that you guys wrote so many 1 star reviews and the book still has a 4 average, then Smith's books are not for you. GET OVER IT
Rating: Summary: amazing Review: i loved this book. i've been looking for it for 2 years and it was woeth the wait. l.j.smith is the most talented author i know of. the way that she mixes romance and horror. if you want to talk about her books e mail me.
Rating: Summary: This book series is second only to the NightWorld Series Review: Elena wasn't my favorite person on Earth but her story was phenomnal. Stephan was beyond georgus. I would also like to state the trend of L.J.Smith. She seems to be a cult like author. If you met someone that read one of her books they have read them all. And my obsession started with the Vampire Diaries. I love Vampires and the way she makes them appear in VD and NW is just right. Never does she make them all sex and they aren't. In most vampire ledgends vamps don't even have sex organs at all. The abolishment of the sun and garlic was a nice touch as well. And Catherine...well, can we say Interview With a Vampire flash backs? I think Ms. Smith is a Anne Rice for us kids. My only complaint is the way she ends her books. Everything isn't all right all of the time. But the rollercoaster ride of her stories is worth the crash at the end. And I am eagerly awaiting Strange Fate.... (And would love to see a repeat of Kait and Gabrielle from Dark Visions. He was a hunk and she was totaly cool.) Keep the books coming.
Rating: Summary: THIS BOOK WAS GREAT Review: THIS WAS THE SECOND SERIES I HAVE READ OF LJS'S THE SECRET CIRCLE TRILOGY WAS AND FOREVER WILL BE HER BEST WORK, BUT THE OTHERS ARE COMING VERY CLOSE. SHE RESEARCHES HER BOOKS DOWN TO THE MINUTE DETAIL...BUT IF ASKED IN A WICCAN SHOP THEY DONT HAVE AN HERB CALLED MIGONETTE (MAGNET OIL). CASSIE IS A GREAT CHARACTER BUT FAYE DOES STEAL THE SHOW...I HAVE EVEN PURCHASED A STAR-RUBY IN HER HONOR. (PRICEY) THE CHARACTER DAMON IN THE VAMPIRE NOVELS IS THE TRAGIC HERO...STEFAN IS OK BUT A LITTLE TOO WISHY-WASHY FOR ME. ELENA IS, TO ME, ANOTHER FAYE. LJS, WRITES ABOUT POWERFUL WOMEN THAT INSPIRES US ALL TO STRIVE FOR MORE...AND NOT TO TAKE WHAT IS JUST DEALT TO US. HAVING A SOULMATE AND BEING ABLE TO HEAL IS JUST THE BONUS.
Rating: Summary: PITIFUL Review: Simply another book for teenage females with wishful fantasies that will never be fulfilled. Not very entertaining, the characters were to pitiful to read about.
Rating: Summary: Its not what you think it is, its better Review: For those people who say that this book is write at the same time as a ton of others, or that it doesnt have swords and armor with dragons, or that stinks in general really didnt pay attention to this book. This is the second release of the Vampire Diaries series and it was worth printing a second time the characters have depth even if some people think that makes it boring. Its a horror book not fantasy for those who havent realized it its not going to have dragons and armor. This book a great read which I would recomend to any one who loves a good vampire book.
Rating: Summary: Powerful story: It will get to your emotions Review: It is the best story I've ever read. What can I say about it? The first time I ever read the series- well, let's just say I've rarely ever cried that much. It'll get to you. LJ's just got this way of telling you in just the right perspective that makes you feel it is you that all this has happened to. You will feel for these character's & you will become so involved that when it ends you'll want more. I can't recommend the Vampire Diaries experience more: It's a must!
Rating: Summary: It'll keep you coming back after 7 years... Review: I read this series when it first came out, when I was still in high school. I have read a wealth of other authors who write adult novels but still have to say this is my favorite story of all time...that has to tell you something. No other story I have EVER read has inspired the obsession I have with this one. And I do mean obsession; there is no other word for it. It is beautiful, absolutely beautiful. LJS brings these characters to life; they live and breathe, and you suffer their pains and celebrate their triumphs right along with them. You cry with them, you laugh with them, you *are* with them. And when it's over, the emptiness of being without them makes you go back and start all over again. Elena is strong and courageous, with an arrogance only those readers who would be jealous of her in real life would despise. Understand her circumstances, and she is everything you wish you were, and everything you try to be. Stefan is a tragic figure, tortured by guilt and healed by Elena's unconditional love. Damon is dark and beautiful, utterly charming and seductive and fearsome, with an arrogance only Damon is worthy to possess. He will astoud you, frighten you, he will get a hold on you from which there is no escape. Bonnie and Meredith and Matt are the most loyal friends anyone could have, and each has their role to play, and each plays it to their fullest extent. Bonnie's psychic powers are awesome despite her charming inhibitions; Meredith's tragic family history is wrenching and she handles it with admirable strength. Matt's devotion to Elena is almost heart-breaking, and the lengths he will go to for her will never cease to amaze you. Read this story. Treasure it. Let it become your world, and it will truly change you. I speak from experience; it has inspired me in ways I will never be able to describe. And it will continue to do so for years to come.
Rating: Summary: Don't even approach this book Review: Hard core fantasy readers-especially males- may find this title disgusting and hard to swallow. The usual fun to read action of swords and men can't be found, not even the wail of a woman. Every character is so carbon copied, you can't even tell the difference between all of them. Worst of all this book shares a title with Kate Chopin's THE AWAKENING, which is a true tale of love and war in it's own form.
Rating: Summary: It is a great book Review: I am a big LJ Smith fan. I read the vampire daries when it firs t came out and I must say it was one of the best experiences in my life. It turned me on to read more and more and made it possible for me to be in 7th grade reading leval when I was in the 4th grade so to anyone who did not like it YOU HAVE NO TASTE WHAT SO EVER.
