Summary: The Awakening (Vampire Diaries, Volume I)
Review: This book is very well written. I loved it. It had a very good plot to it. You couldn't even begin to guess what would happen next. The end was very surprising. I would recommend it and the other books in the series (The Struggle, The Fury, and Dark Reunion)

Summary: One of Smith's earlier books but just as good as Night World
Review: The Awakening is the first books in one of L. J. Smith's early series, The Vampire Diaries, and was first published back in the early 90s. This series is one of the better teen horror ones. Leaving at least some of the formulas behind, #1 The Awakening sets up the main characters and the center love triangle: vampire brothers Stefan and Damon Salvatore, whose fight over young vampire Katherine in Renassaince Italy led to their turning, and Elena Gilbert, the human high school girl that will renew their centuries-old feud. Highly reccomend for horror and vampire fans.

Summary: my fave LJS series
Review: LJ Smith does things in this first trilogy that i don't think she's ever done again. Elena is cool because she's a flawed character, she's a superstereotype of a selfabsorbed peopleeating prom queen at the beginning and i don't think she ever quite resolves into ms. wholesome-america. her affection for stefan still wavers until nearly the end - this series somehow lacks the dour sense of absolute moral certainty that waterlogs most of LJS' other books for me. Every character is an outrageous cliche but that itself can be a good thing; think david lynch and blue velvet or twin peaks, this series creates a similarly eerie and funny and grotesque sense of mythical applepie americana. LJS is so good with creating powerful symbols and here they work as plot devices. it's just an engrossing read; i love it cuz, as other people have complained, it *is* the ultimate wishfullfillment fantasy but always with an ironical quirk in the tail...

Summary: Mills and Boon with blood
Review: I read both the positive and negative Amazon reviews regarding this book before I started on my own. I am a female, who loves romance and a good vampire story, but I found it quite average. I know, personally, I couldn't relate to Elena, her being the most popular girl in the school and all of that. Im more likely to barrack for the underdog. I think the romantic tension between her and Stefan is a little forced. It doesn't flow too nicely, because its trying so hard to be intense. And you think, well this girl has beauty and popularity - why cant someone else get the drama? I think I better just stick to watching Buffy on TV - and barrack for willow and xander!

Summary: One of the greatest books ever!
Review: This is not just another "I'm going to bite you" vampire book. This one has more quality and understanding to the feelings of their nature. Mrs. Smith writes terrific novels about the bravery and courage the main characters have and what they go through to procede that way. It's not easy but you'll see that none of them will ever quit in what they believe in.

Summary: This book was very good just like the Night World books!
Review: I liked this book so much I recommended it to a friend and she just loved it too and is asking for the rest of the books. I do not know about anyone else but I think I liked Damon the best even though he was 'the bad guy'. I liked how Bonnie was psycic. That was really cool. I also liked the part where Stefan saved Elena. I think that this book and the rest of the series should really be read by someone who likes to read books about vampires, witches, ect. It was just a great book so read it! I did and I loved it!

Summary: GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Review: I've read Night world, The Secret Circle, and Dark Visions They were all great books but this is the best off the L.J. Smith books. I can't wait to see who Elena is going to pick.
