Rating: Summary: Very Good book! Must read! Review: This book was a quick read for me. I devoured it all in one day. I couldn't stop reading it; it drew me in from the beginning and didn't let go until the very last page. Josh was an extremely interesting character, and everything about him seemed so... impossible, in a way, like no one in the real world would act the way he did or do the things he did. But, in another way, I felt a real connection to him, like he was an actual person, a friend. I still wonder wether this is a fiction or nonfiction book. There's a sequel, though, which I have not read, so I'm guessing the former. That's kind of sad, I liked the thought that Josh/Larry could be anyone I met on the street...
Rating: Summary: GREAT BOOK Review: This book was amazing and its true too. You should visit the website that its all about. Anyway this boy Josh Swenson who is really Larry tries to write for the website while keeping his identity secret. I highly recommend this book its amazing.
Rating: Summary: Funny, Interesting and Intelligent Review: This book was awesome! I couldn't put it down! You find yourself rooting for Josh/Larry!
Rating: Summary: What a thought provoker Review: This book, while written for teens, has a little something for everyone. The sermons are portrayed as sermons, literally, and there's no question about what you're getting. It's well thought out and engaging with likable characters. The plot is highly unlikely and over reaches now and then but that's part of the fun of fiction. It's also a great picture of our society in the way Larry is accepted only in his anonymous format. All things lose their appeal when well known and all people become less heroic when their masks fall off. First we lionize, then we demonize. I would recommend this book to anyone for that lesson alone.
Rating: Summary: WOW!!!!!!!!! Review: This is a really awesome book! I started reading it about 3 hrs. ago and just couldn't put it down! This is one of the best Young Adult books I've read in a long time. Kudos to Janet Tahjian!!
Rating: Summary: You'll think it's true, boy are you in for a surprise Review: This is an amazing book. I really thought it was a true story. Check out the website too. Janet Tashjian has unbelievably amazing talent. Wow. It's about life, identity crisis, materialism, relationships, etc, etc, etc. Perfect for anybody. Pick it up!
Rating: Summary: worth a read Review: This is an interesting story about a teenager who tries to change the world. He does it through an anonymous website. Although he succeeds in changing the world, he loses the life he loves when his identity is discovered. The book keeps you reading the whole way! It finishes with a twist. I would recommend this book
Rating: Summary: Best Book Ive Ever Read Review: This my favorite book of all time. The whole concept of the book is very original. I've read it twice and was not able to put it down. Anyone who does not atleast appreciate the message that this book tells obviously does not have the opened minded wisdow that Josh has. The idea that there are teenagers out there who think with such wisdow as Josh gives hope for the future. I cant wait for a second. This book makes you rethink your whole way of life.
Rating: Summary: AWESOME Review: This was an incredible book that really affected me and will affect you too!! Josh Swenson is meek, mild, and shy, but full of secret opinions. Those opinions are voiced in his counter-ego, Larry. The website affects thousands and thousands of people, and Josh is forced to deal with the consequences of his acts...something this big is bound to get out.
Rating: Summary: The Gospel According to Larry Review: What a waste of time this book was! All it succeeded in was making me angry. Larry's "ideas" are so incredibly naive and stupid that it's hard to believe that anyone with a scrap of brains in their head would agree. For example, he doesn't like the SAT- what a revolutionary! No one has ever challeged standardized testing before. I'd like to see him come up with a better solution for a standardized way of grading student's intellect that would actually work in practice and not in theory. It's noble to want kids to be graded on ideas and critical thinking, but how in the world are you going to do that and ensure that it is cost-effective and objective? And companies that pay minumum wage giving people free housing- where are they going to come up with the money and resources for that? He obviously has not considered the thousands of important details that are so obvious to everyone else who reads the book. I'm so glad this is not a real person, but it disturbs me that there are actually people who like this book!
