Rating: Summary: You cant go without reading this book Review: If you like intriguing books about wilderness and how people survive on their own, then youÃll like this book about Gabe and Raymond and how they survive on their wild adventure in the Northern Canadian wilderness. This book is about Gabe and Raymond; two teenage boys fighting to survive in Northern Canada. Their plane goes off a cliff, and the pilot dies. They were starving and hadnÃt had any food for days. When RaymondÃs uncle goes out hunting for a moose he has a heart attack and dies as well. I liked this book a lot. It started out slow, but picked up quickly. I liked it because it was a good action adventure, with a lot of twists and turns. I also liked the descriptive writing of the author. My favorite part of the book was when Raymond killed a mountain sheep with an ax. I also like when the winter bear shows up and catches Gabe and Raymond in a tree.

Rating: Summary: Best Ever! Review: If you want a book of adventure and suspense, this is it! I found it in my school library one day after spending the usual half an hour looking in this stupid "binder" that you look for a book by the level and title. Anyway, I came across Far North and it ended up being the best book I have ever read. I recommend this book for its seemingly endless entertainment.
Rating: Summary: Far North.....bring your ear muffs Review: In a thrilling novel by Will Hobbs a fifteen-year-old boy, Gabe Rogers, gets his first look at Canada's Northwest Territories with his roommate from boarding school Raymond Providence. Below is the Nahanni River, white water racing between cliffs and creating massive falls. The pilot sets the plane down on the lake surface of the upper river. Suddenly the engine quits. The only sound is a dull roar downstream, as the plane drifts helplessly toward the falls. With the horrible winter fast approaching, Gabe and Raymond soon found themselves stranded in Deadman Valley. Trapped in a frozen world full of dangerous animals such as moose, wolves, and bears, two boys from different cultures come to depend on each other for their own survival. " The shock of the cold water squeezed all the out of my lungs. I caught a glimpse of Raymond running along the bank. All encumbered by my heavy clothes and boots, I swam as best I could for the shore. I had to get to the shore before the cliff, or I was dead." (Pg.138) This is the kind of writing style that Will Hobbs showed off in this riveting novel which kept me guessing, not quite knowing what would happen to these two boys. I enjoyed this novel because of Hobbs' writing style. He created action packed and fast paced situations. He also crated witty and unique characters. He came up with perfect challenges for the two boys who were so different, so you could watch them work together.--Alex Glazer
Rating: Summary: Good book, but not as adventurous as Hobbs' other books. Review: The book is good, I grant you that, but there is not enough excitement in it. For example, in the book DOWNRIVER, the book is exciting, with a surprising conclusion. I don't want to discourage anyone from reading it, but assuredly, FAR NORTH is not Will Hobbs' best.
Rating: Summary: THE MOST ADVENTUROUS BOOK I HAVE EVER READ IN MY LIFE!!! Review: The way the book was written it made me feel like I was in the book. And it has an adventurous and daring and most of the time dangerous stunt performed in every page. I would highly recommend this book. It has changed the way I think and feel about nature and human beings; what we can do to help.

Rating: Summary: An Action Packed Book Review: This book is amazing! Will Hobbs weaves this story with action, adventure, and surprises. The story starts with a 15- year old boy named Gabe, his father works at the drill rigs in the Northwest Territories. Gabe decides to move from Texas to the N.W.T so he can see the scenery. He stays in Yellowknife at a boarding school wth his roomate, Raymond. Soon a bush pilot gives Gabe the chance to see the scenery from a plane. Raymond becomes home sick and takes the plane home. On the plane there is the pilot, Gabe, Raymond, and Raymond's great uncle, Johnny Raven. They decide to take a side trip to see the Nahanni falls. The pilot lands the plane in a lake and the engine quits. That's were the adventure starts.
Rating: Summary: WOW:):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):) Review: This book is great and action packed. You never want to put it down. It has won a many awards, and I can see why. The first time I read this book, I knew I would have to read it again, and I have read it about 8 times. This book is GREAT!
Rating: Summary: Exciting, interesting, and full of suspense Review: This book was interesting right from the start. Hobbs did a very good job of keeping the reader's attention. It was a real page turner. I probably liked this book the most because the characters are the same age as myself, which made it very easy to relate to and follow along. I just kept wanting to find out what was happening next with the two boys. The suspense at times made me worry that one of them was going to die at any time. Unlike many books that go from peaking with suspense to being boring, this book maintained the interest level throughout. I highly recommend this book to other teens to read.
