Rating: Summary: An interesting plot Review: A Dark and Deadly Pool, by Joan Lowery Nixon is a fantastic book! The plot is good, but a little confusing. This book had many twists and turns, and kept me on the edge of my seat.
Rating: Summary: The Dark and Deadly Pool Review: Elizabeth Rafftery (Liz) works for the Riddely Hottel. She is part of the Health Club. One night She is walking around the pool, and all of a sudden, she finds a dead body in the pool.
Rating: Summary: Really 4.5 stars Review: I liked how the story weaved together and made the story make sence. I liked how Nixon could have adventure, humor and romance all in one. Fran was funny and Liz was heroic.
Rating: Summary: The Dark and Deadly pool Review: I love Joan Lowry Nixon, all of her books are amazing (especially The Other Side of Dark and Spirit Seeker). I picked up THE DARK AND DEADLY POOL expecting a lot, and maybe that's why I was so let down.
THE DARK AND DEADLY POOL takes place at the Ridley Hotel, where Elizabeth (or Liz) Rafferty works in the pool area. She cleans up and puts out fresh towels most of the time, but sometimes she has to act as a lifeguard. One night, Liz is closing up the pool area and something happens. Someone - or something - grabs Liz's ankle. When she knows nobody is in the room with her. So what was it?
Liz goes on a mission to find out who the person in the pool was. She makes a new friend on the way Fran (the boy that happens to be a good 4 inches shorter than her, but is also in love with her) - he's the most memorable character in the book.
THE DARK AND DEADLY POOL is a good book - with memorable characters and a unique setting. So why only three stars? It moved really slowly and the ending was predictable. I'd recommend checking out Joan Lowry Nixon's other books, but maybe getting this one from the library.
Overall grade - C

Rating: Summary: The Dark and Deadly Pool Review: I thought this book was awesome because it had great suspense and kept me reading. I couldn't put the book down! I loved how she made her characters so life like. I would like Mary Elizabeth as a friend because she is very nice and honest and seems to be outgoing. I also enjoyed Fran's humor throughtout the book. I personally think that Fran and Mary Elizabeth should date because they get along so well and have a lot in common. Also Fran has a great personality. I would defenitely recommend this book to anyone who likes mystery!

Rating: Summary: This is a really good book! Review: I've just started to read a lot of Joan Lowrey Nixon books, and this one is my favorite one so far. Her mysteries aren't too hard to figure out most of the time, and this one is no exception, but I love the main characters, Liz and Fran. They have so much personality I feel as if they could be my best friends. The dialogue between them is always funny, and even though this story is kind of lacking in the mystery and suspense area, it's still a great book. If you want a good mystery book or suspense book by this author try "The Seance", "The Kidnapping of Christina Lattimore", or "Wispers From the Dead"
Rating: Summary: This book is GREAT!!!! Review: I've read almost all of Nixon's books, and I think this was one of her best!! I love the way she writes. This book is about a girl named Liz that has a new job at a health club at a very fancy hotel. Unusual things start to happen, like a murder, and a robbery. I liked this book a lot. It was really good!!!!
Rating: Summary: Another Nixon Hit!..... Review: Joan Lowery Nixon is a talented writer! Even though this wasn't my favorite book by her, she still made sure the reader feels as though they are in the story!..."The Dark and Deadly Pool" is about a girl named Mary Elizabeth. She just landed a new job at the Ridley Hotel's heath club. Her shift takes place from 3-11 PM. One night, while Liz is by the pool alone after closing, a person comes up from the pool and reaches out to Liz. By the time Liz calls security, the man is gone! Liz starts to realize that her new job is getting stranger by the minute when guests start to have their wallets pickpocketed. Not only that, but roasts and turkeys are being stolen from the kitchen, and two antique sofas are stolen by people posing as cleaners. Liz knows that these events must be linked, but how? Will Liz be able to detect what's going on with the Ridley Hotel events, or will her investigations lead her to death? Surely finding a dead guest in the pool will throw her off the case, right? Find out in "The Dark and Deadly Pool!" Overall, I think this story was very good. Nixon also incorporated romance into the story for a sure-hit! Aside from that though, I think that Nixon could have put a bit more action into it! Also recommended: "Name of the Game Was Murder" and "Nobody's There," both by Joan Lowery Nixon!
