Rating: Summary: Crusader-good, but not great Review: I thought Edward Bloor wrote a fairly decent novel. But nothing compares to Tangerine. Edward was very good with his description of the characters. I like how he made his act the way they did, but I liked this novel and i can't wait for his new book Story Time
Rating: Summary: Good, but not on the level of Bloor's first novel Review: For anyone who may have read my review of Tangerine, I wrote that I was thrilled that Bloor had another novel out and I couldn't wait to get my hands on it. Well, I have read it now and have to say that I was disappointed. I wanted so badly to love it like I loved Tangerine, but it just didn't happen. I found Roberta to be a difficult character to feel for. I just couldnt get into her or identify with her, even though I shared some of her adolescent experiences of being shy, bookish, and slow to develop. Maybe I would have enjoyed this book more if I hadn't had such high expectations for it, because I found the subject to be quite interesting.
Rating: Summary: Crusader Review from a 6th Grader Review: This book was really a great story. Roberta was full of surprises, and the end surprised me. I just couldn't stop reading "Crusader." I reccomend this book to anybody who likes action and mystery. (...)
Rating: Summary: Crusader, the best book I've ever read. Review: I know people always say, "I couldn't put it down," but I am serious, I literally couldn't. When I first picked up this book I planned on reading it over the course of a month, and finished it in just one day. The Characters each have certain mysteriousness's, and quirks that keep the book interesting. Bloor cleverly mixes together all the strange things going on in this Florida community, including a failing Mall, a violent game, the loss of loved ones, a series of hate crimes, a neglected teenager, a 7-year-old murder, and a girls journey of self-discovery. You can really relate to the characters; I found myself comparing each character to someone I knew. With it's racial tension it may be to intense for some readers, but serious young adult readers will definitely appreciate it. I would highly recomend this book, not only is it an elaborate, roller-coaster ride mystey, but in every incident there are hidden moraals, and secrets revealed if you bother to look closely. Don't hesitate, it's not a waste of money, BUY THIS BOOK. I gurantee you you'll be glad that u did.
Rating: Summary: Well Written, Couldn't put it down! Review: This book is a new favorite of mine. It has a lot of great details. I can really picture what is going on in my head. I read this book day and night for 3 days until I finished. I couldnt put it down! If you like mysteries, then this book is for you. Don't accuse anyone right away though, things aren't always as they seem. This book has viloence, and deals with mature subjects (murder, racisism, death, etc.) If you can't handle things like that, don't read it.
Rating: Summary: great book- for older readers Review: I thought this was a great, fantastic book. It is for older readers, there were some swears and a mature subject. If you can handle that I definetly recommened it.
Rating: Summary: A cool, complex thriller about teens today Review: People who complain that this book isn't about a crusader are missing the point, I think. The book is about how the main character, a girl named Roberta, learns to become her own crusader--fighting for the things she believes in and righting the wrongs that she's lived with all her life. Like bloor's other book, Tangerine, this one has dense plotting and incredibly well constructed characters. And like that book, it reads a lot faster than you would expect when you look at how thick it is. I wasn't expecting to like this book, but once I got a little ways into it, I couldn't put it down. It's a funny novel, and a moving novel, and has a mystery or two. It would make a great movie.
Rating: Summary: If you're in the mood... Review: This book was a good read, when you felt like reading. It was helpful passing time, but the plot and the characters are shallow and confusing. It has a good ending, but I'm surprised I even got to it because the book's lethargic content drags on so. If you have time to waste, waste it on this. It has absolutely nothing to do with the "Crusader" or heroes.
Rating: Summary: I COULD NOT PUT THIS BOOK DOWN! Review: This book is about Roberta who works at her family's arcade. At the arcade and at home Roberta faces many challenges and trys to figure them out or solve them. The book was great! It had a realistic plot and characters who where believable. I was a little dissapointed about the story not centering on the Crusader but other than that it was a real page turner. Anyone who likes mysteries will like this book.
Rating: Summary: Crusader Corrupts Review: I am a pre-teen reader, and although the characters were well developed, I found the book very violent and offensive. The book includes drugs, rascim, and murder, and because of the detailed way the author describes these crimes, it seems very real. However a younger reader may not fully understand or be ready for some of the issues in Crusader.
